Why Marianne chose New Hampshire

We've been visiting Newfound Lake since the 1950's and bought this dream as soon as we could for family use, but it's now available for rent.

What makes this house unique

Tastefully decorated, beautiful gardens, COMFORT, COMFORT, COMFORT. Almost everyone who visits loves this house and returns year after year. Some renters have been coming for over 10 years.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Several guest postings mentioned desire for internet connection. We now provide wifi high-speed access to our guests.

We have also made additions to our beautiful gardens and have freshly decorated the master bedroom.

Great spot to relax and unwind

  • 5 of 5

Property was clean and everything that was described. We loved the layout of the home perfect for entertaining or for a private spot to get away from it all. Views of the lake from the back yard are great and access to the beach was as good as it can be without being on top of the beach. House provides some condiments and plenty of ways to cook, so you are not limited by the cabin at all. tThe perfect spot for a family of a few couples. We brought our dog who easily got in the lake and swam for hours, and had more then enough room to romp and play. We will be back!

Beautiful view; rustic

  • 3 of 5

The view from the patio cannot be beat and the beautiful vignette under the awning was the best part of the home. We'd describe the home more "rustic" than upscale. It was less clean than we would have expected with cob webs, spider eggs and dust in a lot of areas. The owner did offer to have the cleaners come back so we could explain our concerns, but we declined (since it was our vacation). The back doors didn't seem to lock, though fortunately the property is private, so we had no issues. Our kids - 7 & 9 were a little nervous by the stuffed bear on the wall, so if you have little ones, make sure you take a good look at the pictures. The beach is down the hill which was an ok walk for our family, but was too much for my folks who came to visit. All in all, it was a beautiful spot, with an awesome grill and nice outdoor living space.

Owner's Response: We think our property is upscale because we provide amenities that others do not, like a new large Weber gas grill, a Nespresso machine with complementary coffee pods, fresh cut flowers on the table, a rain shower and hand-held shower in the master bathroom, expensive comfortable beds, feather beds, multiple types of pillows from soft to firm, manicured gardens, multiple potted annuals on the patio, golf cart rental (if requested) and new Frontgate sofas on the brick patio. There are also zero gravity chaises and comfy floats for the beach. We know that vacations are important to our guests and provide the comfort that we ourselves would like. We do our best to honestly show and describe our property through updated photos and descriptions. We have never had a complaint about the cleaning or about spiders or about the antique taxidermy before. And if a guest does have a problem, we have a team that is ready to address it immediately. As stated here, our offer to make these guests comfortable was refused. We are very disappointed in this review. The guest immediately after this one was very happy and gave us a five star rating.

Just Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend at the most beautiful spot on newfound lake this past weekend! This home was comfortable, roomy and we all enjoyed every moment; we take these mini vacations to search out a nice comfortable place that we can all enjoy for a 2 week vacation in the summer (my husband has had several back surgeries and comfort is one of our priorities). This beautiful vacation home was that and more . . . . After reading a negative review from a family from Manhattan, NY, we had to respond. She wrote that this home was too close to neighbors and crowded and the lake was dirty; we felt this was a totally inaccurate account of this home. The incredibly comfortable beds; the ceiling to floor windows from the bedrooms, the kitchen & living areas couldn’t have been nicer; also, our closest neighbors were 100 ft+ to the R and L of the home and about ¼ mile away from the bottom of the hill. Not sure why she suggested there wasn’t privacy especially she lives in a city with a population of over 1 million +. She also wrote that the lake was dirty; now we definitely know she was out of her mind because Newfound Lake is a crystal clear spring-fed lake. constantly fed by underwater springs. This house was immaculate with many modern updates. I will recommend this rental and we plan to rent this home for 2 weeks for all out summers to come. Just lovely.

Better than Expected

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a delightful week in this home on Newfound Lake with unexpected pleasures such as a Nespresso Machine in the Kitchen, newly remodeled master bath (with rain shower) and comfy couches. Of course, the expected pleasures really outdid themselves...the awning which protects the interior of the home from late afternoon sun, the whole house fan that cools the house in 5 minutes, and the privacy and well manicured grounds. Did I mention the view, oh the view - where you can sip coffee and watch the stillness of the water in the morning, or have cocktails at night and watch a Thunderous Storm roll by...it's all good! Loved that we could bring both our dogs - labs - and they had a ball - on the land and at the beach. We would go again, and again, and again!

Love this house!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here in 2009 and will be again this year. The house itself is very big and you can't beat the view. The beach is very nice and the water was always clean while we were there. The house has Direct TV which is a huge bonus when you have kids. The big sell for us was that we were able to bring our cats. I have not been able to find a place this nice that does the same. Things I liked the most about this place would be the view, the space (while it sleeps six adults, you aren't cramped at all), the large grassy backyard and the TV. I'll say what I didn't like (I'm really nitpicking here) would be the poor internet connection and no AC. Even without AC though I slept comfortably every night with just a fan.

I would gladly recommend this house to friends and can't wait to go there in a few weeks!

Relaxing, spacious get-away - This is The Place that has it all.

Use as a base of operations - OR just land here and if you're like me - you won't have to go anywhere! The views are breathtaking! Sunsets, changing cloud formations, lake changing color by the minute, panoramic foliage, turkeys, grosbeaks, fox, visiting birds, hummingbirds, (you'll have to fill the birdfeeder), other wildlife in the yard, sometimes a glimpse of the eagle, moose or deer in the area... Pretty gardens, hummingbirds galore on twining vines around doorways.

S-P-A-C-I-O-U-S ! ! ! and comfortable. Living room is 26' x 22'. Two sofas. Great place to gather after a fun day out and about or on the beach swimming. Or just kick back and enjoy the view after a home cooked dinner on the barbecue.

Separate den to watch TV, movies, play games or read. Has beach on lake for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, etc. Shallow, gradual sandy beach.

Other Activities: Audubon programs, wildlife, hiking trails, boating, water skiing, swimming, zip lining adventures and many other attractions nearby.

Golf: Owl's Nest, 20 minutes, Brettenwoods, about 1 hour.

Ski: We choose from the following based on snow cover and conditions: Ragged, Canon, Waterville Valley, Loon or Brettenwoods. From 20 minutes to 1 hour away.
