About this property
Comfortable Luxury Holmes Co. Barndominium
Come relax and enjoy this cute and cozy barndominium! Tastefully decorated with comfortable lodge and farmhouse style decor, we're located about 15-20 minutes east of Mohican Park or 15-20 minutes from Holmes County's Amish Country near Nashville! Close for daytime activities then spend the evening enjoying peaceful open spaces.
The Barn features two bedrooms. One with a rustic pine queen bed and the other with a Hickory queen bed and a twin. There is also a queen Murphy bed in the common area, my favorite unique piece of furniture in the whole place, to provide more sleeping space. A privacy screen is provided. Most of the beautiful furniture in the Barn has come from Holmes County's local craftsmen.
There is a fully functional kitchen; complete with a gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, disposal and microwave. Most of your needs for basic cooking is available with dishes, glasses, pots and pans, a coffee maker, (drip & Keurig ) toaster and crockpot. There is a small island with two saddle style stools and a kitchen table that can accommodate six with 4 chairs and a bench.
The open concept design allows guests to visit with friends and family in the kitchen gathering area and the main living space, where you can enjoy the warmth of a gorgeous stone gas fireplace.
Although there is only one bathroom, we tried to make it unique with a spacious walk in shower made of synthetic marble walls, a seat, rainfall shower and a handheld shower wand.
The outdoor patio area with firepit and poly furniture seating allows patrons to enjoy the scenic western view of the rolling countryside year round. There also is a large picnic table under the pergola. The firepit does have a grate for grilling burgers or steaks over either a wood or charcoal fire. We always provide some firewood so you can just sit back and enjoy a late night glow!
Guest have their own private outdoor space as well as private parking.

We love this barndominium. It’s so well furnished with the locally crafted furniture, comfortable beds, adequate amenities, and pleasant decor. It’s definitely more than “just” a cabin.
We love guests like Chris and would welcome his group back for any future stay.

These were wonderful guests. We were so happy to host them and even though the weather didn’t cooperate the best, they were still able to enjoy the beauty that surrounds this gem! The barn was left spotless and we would welcome them back anytime!
The barn is so beautiful and very comfortable. Nice to warm up by the fire on a chilly, late Fall weekend and relax with friends and games.

Great guests! Everything was in perfect order when they left. They were super at communicating with me on their arrival which was wonderful because I was out of town myself. We would love to host them again!
Great get away in a neutral location to several places. We enjoyed being able to have fires in the evening and watching the kids run up and down the hill. Barn was neat clean and provided a good quiet escape.

These guests were great to host. We’re always happy to have families gather and make memories together. The Barn is an overlooked treasure. The inside is comfortable and the view is spectacular! Very glad we can share this with others. We would be happy to host them again!
Very clean, and cozy. Pictures dont do it justice. We stayed for 4 days and had the best time, we saw tons of whitetail deer in the meadows, shared laugh’s around the kitchen table, and made memories for a lifetime. Would love to come back!

Makensie was a wonderful guest! We are so glad she found us and the Barn worked for their getaway. We would welcome her back anytime!
Upon first glance, you may never know the property is a restored barn. It's makeover is quite aesthetic, from the floors to the walls and throughout. Other than the sight of deer peeking their heads through the woods nearby, it felt isolated. The site is perfect for mental downtime, but within a relatively short drive is Ohio's Amish communities. The host was very responsive and the rates are quite respectable for the property's value.

Thank you John for these kind words on our Barn. I think it’s a diamond for sure. It is wonderful for a couples retreat or a couple friends especially for these late summer days when you can still get outside to enjoy the evenings around the fire pit! We would love to have you back anytime!
The property is beautiful. Very clean. Very quiet. Host was nice and easy to contact. Guests should be aware that cell signal in the barn is very weak but much better outside. Could not connect to internet either. Not a great location if you need to work during your stay but it's fantastic if you want to unplug and relax for the weekend. It's a very peaceful location.

This guest was amazing and very understanding! We did have issues hopefully being addressed right now since apparently our router died! New one is on the way! We can't change the location though on some of the other things. We are very remote! We are behind a ridge in a low area. The Barn is a steel sided building which does complicate phone service.
BUT... when you can sit outside to enjoy the beauty of our area and soak in the stars (they had cold and showers :( ) you can't beat it! Inside is comfortable and cozy in front of the fireplace though.
Come see us again anytime!
If you're looking to slow down and enjoy nature....this is the place for you. Absolutely gorgeous 'barndominium' on absolutely beautiful land with amazing sunsets. Quiet and so much peace. House was clean, up to date, and comfy. No complaints from us. Close to Mohican State Park for hiking, Landoll's Mohican Castle for dinner or a fun ghost walk at night, and cute towns like Loudenville, Millersburg, and Berlin. Be careful driving over hills, you never know when you'll encounter a horse and buggy. Highly recommend and we'll definitely be back.

We were happy to share this gem with these guests to celebrate their first wedding anniversary and would welcome them back anytime. They picked a fantastic weekend to come enjoy the beautiful view since the leaves are entering their peak color. We’re glad they enjoyed the stay.
We had a wonderful stay at this property! Clean, homey, quiet. We loved the fire pit! It was so nice to get away to a place on such a beautiful property where we could sit back and see the stars at night. Highly recommend!
It was a beautiful property. Very peaceful. If you want to disconnect from technology , This is a great place to get away from it all. Very clean and great communication.
It was such a good time. Adorable renovated barn and beautiful property. The pictures didn’t do it justice! We went ziplining and to Landoll’s castle for dinner about 15-20 minutes from the property and had a blast. Great for a group outing! Very clean, lots of land and a great fire pit.

These guests were great! The barn is hard to photograph, well because it’s a barn. The common area is huge and open but we’ve tried to make it more than a barn and provide the comfort and charm guests would expect if they were at the Lodge! And the outdoor area is amazing!,
We love to be able to share it with our guests like Krushi and love it when they say they can’t wait to return for a future visit. Hope to see you soon!
My new wife and I enjoyed our weekend getaway at the barn rental. Very spacious and inviting. Great view and awesome location. We will definitely be booking it again in the future
This was a nice family weekend. The place was clean and communication was great! Just what we needed to unplug from reality for a few days.

About the host
Hosted by Kelly Esselburn
Welcome to our slice of paradise! We are Tom and Kelly Esselburn, and we are happy to host you at our beautifully remodeled barn. We fell in love with this gorgeous setting and hope that you will enjoy the peace and tranquility as much as we do. Our family of seven has grown over the years as our “kids” have grown up and begun families of their own so even our large farmhouse can’t always accommodate everyone for those special family gatherings. When Tom found this gorgeous place we purchased it for our future growing family! What strikes us is how quiet it is there. It’s a special place to just relax and get away from the day to day hustle and bustle of life. We just knew we had to share this with others so in 2015 we launched Whitetail Ridge Lodge and in 2017 we opened The Barn at Whitetail Ridge Lodge. We are situated between the Mohican Park with all the water activities- canoeing or tubing, hiking, biking and horse back riding in the Loudonville area AND the shopping. crafts, local wineries, food and farmers markets of Amish Country in the Millersburg and Berlin area! We feel we have the best of Holmes County to offer because at the end of the day you can return to relax to a quiet evening at the pergola and fire pit to enjoy family, friends or just a quiet couples retreat. We look forward to hosting you!
Why they chose this property
The benefit we believe you have while visiting the Barn is how quiet it is. Do you know you are away from the city lights and can actually SEE the stars and hear the owls hoot! It's so much more than a one room cabin sleeping up to seven guests. Inside most of our furniture, as well as the cabinets was locally made and the building was renovated by our Amish craftsmen. Outside we believe one word says it all. Gorgeous! The grounds are well manicured provide a variety of seasonal flora to enjoy. The pergola and fire pit offer a terrific place to make steaks or burgers on the over the pit grill. It’s a great place to sit and relax with friends or roast marshmallows with the kids at the end of the day. We think everyday here is a great day!
What makes this property unique
The Barn offers three queen size beds plus a twin in the one room for the comfort of our guests. Two bedrooms are private and one queen bed is a Murphy bed in the common room. The furnished kitchen has seating for six at the table plus a bar with two stools. The indoor gas fireplace is a beautiful focal point in the large center gathering room and will keep you toasty warm on a cool fall or winter evening. The outdoor area with the picnic area under the pergola and the inviting firepit with seating area is a great way to unwind after a day of touring Millersburg, Berlin or Mt. Hope in rural Holmes County or canoeing, tubing, hiking, or biking in the Loudonville area or at Mohican State Park.
