Private, Charming 1938 Bungalow 50 Feet from Madeira Beach on the Gulf of Mexico

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,300 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Don't want the crowded condo experience with noisy neighbors having condo parties and dealing with flights of stairs lugging beach supplies and groceries? Then this stand-alone 1938 bungalow with charming original cypress walls for is for you!

The bungalow is located literally just 50 feet from the white sands of Madeira Beach so you will be waking up to the sound of waves lapping onto the shore. Be in the center of it all, but with privacy in your own home that has views of the white sands of the beach and the crystal blue water of the Gulf from the living and dining room areas. The primary and second picture is the view the bungalow has as it looks under the elevated house toward the beach from the large living room windows.

Included in this 1,200 square foot Beach House are two bedrooms (1 king size bed and 1 queen size bed). The bathroom was updated in July 2018. There is also a private 40' x 7' deck off the back of the house with a table, patio chairs and a chaise lounge chair as shown in picture 15 to relax on during the warm nights (the patio you see in picture 1 and 2 are for the elevated house guests) but those are your beach views and you also have your own private deck area off the back! The property also boasts a fully equipped kitchen, smart flat screen cable TVs, Sling streaming TV and FREE high speed internet. All linens and kitchen utensils are provided. A washer and dryer are available for your use in the detached garage. One parking space is included and we can possibly accommodate two cars with proper notification and coordination (if a second parking space is a concern, please discuss it with us before making your reservation). We do also include beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrella, boogie boards, swim noddles, and Styrofoam coolers for your enjoyment. Since we provide you items like beach chairs and umbrellas (most other rentals do not include the large umbrellas and beach chairs), you will not have to pay the $5 per day beach chair rental fee or the $15 per day umbrella rental fee charged on the beach!

You just can't beat the location for convenience either. It is within walking distance to many great beach bar and grills, nightly live entertainment, as well as several fine dining opportunities. Thus, you can easily make do without a car. Local free beach ride services operate for tips only or you can catch the trolley one block away on Gulf Blvd. The trolley will take you from the northern tip of Clearwater Beach to the southern tip of Pass-A-Grille Beach and even east to downtown St Petersburg, home to the MLB Tampa Bay Rays, the Dali Museum, and many fine dining and shopping experiences.

Closer to home (2 blocks away), is historic John's Pass Village, with a host of entertainment options including; dolphin tours, jet ski rentals, parasailing, sunset boat tours, alligator petting exhibit, pirate ship cruise, and so much more. Dining options 2 blocks away are also plentiful such as Bubba Gump, The Friendly Fisherman, The Pirate's Den, Scully's, The Rusty Anchor, Mad Beach Craft Brewing, Gators and so much more! Don't pass up the opportunity to take a stroll over the Madeira Beach Bridge for some great views. There is so much to do for all ages and interests: golf, water sports, antiquing, museums galore, professional sports franchises - including baseball, football and hockey, as well as Spring Training for a host of famous teams. It is all here!

So a little more about the original cypress walls. It is not just normal cypress, it is pecky cypress. Pecky cypress is a rare and highly sought after type of cypress popular for the uniqueness in it's amazing organic three dimensional textural character. Most people fall in love with it when they see it. These are from true old growth cypress that was cut down in the early 1900s and the cypress that was cut down at that time is estimated to be anywhere from 250 to 2,500 years old. There are still a few protected old growth cypress trees here in Florida as old as 3,500 years old!

Out of respect for our neighbors and to keep the cottage in good condition, we do not allow large parties or smoking in the house.

Wonderful beach property!

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our stay in this older charming, yet spacious property.

Lots of room and patio decks to enjoy. Short walkway to the Beach.

Quiet corner, gracious hosts, short walk to dining and entertainment.

Would stay here again.

We fed and loved on the stray cat and bought her food left the rest so the next renters will feed her..The only coffee maker is a Kureg we bought coffee so made coffee in a pan and strained it the old fashioned way lol.. I would rent the home again ... Bob is fixing it up. ..just hope the prices won't go up!! Ladies there is a hair dryer so no need to pack one

Nice, but needs work

  • 3 of 5

Roomy, clean and good location. Owner in process of remodel; which he informed us of after we arrived. Front porch has a loose board. Part of unit is on central air; which is locked so it only cools to 74, and other end cools with window a/c. Bath: tub/shower drain rusted, valve did not divert easily, wall damaged and had no grab bars. Toilet would run if handle not pushed back into correct position. Needs a 12c coffee maker in place of the 4c. Could only find 1 skillet. Linens were mismatched and almost looked to be dirty. Linen closet hard to open. Owner friendly and lives on property.

Great value for having a beachfront view. Clean and comfortable bungalow steps away from the beach.

  • 4 of 5

The bungalow is stocked with everything you need for a week at the beach, including a washer and dryer. Bob is a nice guy and he gives you your privacy. I’ll probably be back next year. For the price you can’t beat it.

wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place to stay... right on the beach. Had everything you need for a great place to stay and play. Shops and restaurants are within walking at John's Pass. They had chairs for the beach so you can enjoy the sun (just wear sunscreen and don't fall asleep). We spent a few days at Busch Gardens, but coming back to the bungalow in the evening was great to relax after a day of fun. They had recommendations for places to eat and we ate 2 times at the Salt Rock Grill, best filet ever. I would have no problem staying here again or recommending it to others. Also loved that you did not have to book 7 days or start on a Saturday, that gave us so much flexibility for our trip to Florida.

Beach in the Backyard!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at this home. It was right behind the owners that live in the home directly on the beach. I don't know if I would say it is adjoined or detached from the owners, but we did not really see them after the first day except in passing. We met with Bob when we got there an he gave us the run down on everything. Very nice guy! It is a cute home from the 30's. The home was great for us and if we brought our daughter she would have had her own space. It is also right next to beach access which is my favorite part. Another great thing is you are within a few blocks from John's Pass which has all kinds of shops, restaurants, and a few activities. It was about a 5 minute walk to it. The community is very nice too - not very touristy and overpopulated. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars it that the bathroom was not in the best shape. I only say this as an FYI because I know the owners are planning on renovating soon. We would love to come back again!
