The Dungeness is a cozy two bedroom, one bath cottage overlooking Beverly Beach just north of Newport. Each bedroom has one queen bed and the home sleeps 4 comfortably. The bright, open floor plan affords fabulous ocean views from the living room and dining area and resident grey whales are a regular sight. The kitchen is well stocked and the cook also gets a spectacular view of the ocean! If you prefer to venture outside to enjoy the view, the private back yard has ample seating and an outdoor hot tub. Enjoy s'mores over the stone fire pit or grill fresh salmon on either the gas or charcoal grill. Beverly Beach is just a short walk down the hill and beach access is under the bridge at Spencer Creek. When you reach the beach, look left to see the Lighthouse at Yaquina Head. To the right is Otter Rock and just a mile's walk to surfing, Devil's Punch Bowl State Natural Area, and amazing tidepooling at the Marine Gardens. When you return, feel free to use the outdoor foot shower. The cottage allows a maximum of two dogs. Please do not leave them unattended at any time. You may notice glittering strings hanging outside the front door; they keep the barn swallows from nesting in the entry way so please leave them in place.

About Devon Mann
I am an Oregon native and U of O alum. Growing up, I spent much of my childhood visiting the central Oregon coast with my family. Currently I live in northeastern Illinois--way too far from the ocean! I aspire to share my passion for marine biology and the sea with my family by spending time every summer visiting Hatfield Marine Science Center and the Oregon Coast Aquarium, tide-pooling at the near by Marine Gardens, surfing, and endlessly wandering the beach.
Devon Mann purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Devon Mann chose Newport
I originally purchased this property when my daughter was just one year old. Since we live in Illinois, I wanted her to have the opportunity to experience all that the pacific northwest coast has to offer as I did as a child. I chose the Dungeness because of its beautiful private view and yard, simplicity, character, and location to Newport and Beverly Beach State Park. It is one of the few locations where visitors can walk to the beach without having to navigate crossing Highway 101.
What makes this Cottage unique
One of my favorite family traditions at the cottage is roasting s'mores on over a fire in the outdoor stone fire pit while watching the sunset. More often than not, a resident grey whale spout joins the amazing view. There is little light pollution after sunset and on clear summer nights we frequently are able to see shooting stars.

We loved the house, view, privacy , and especially the hot tub
Overall very nice place to stay. The skylights in the bedrooms meant waking with the sun (not ideal for a night owl). The previous guests had not cleaned up after their dog despite poop bags being provided. There was a nice basket with blanket, towel, bowls, treats, and poop bags provided for the dog.
Great place to relax and enjoy the beach!
This house was the perfect place for our little weekend get away!! The dogs and toddlers loved playing outside, the view of the ocean was PERFECT to watch the sunset and they even provided a welcome basket for the dogs!! We would definitely rent this house again!
Was such a delight to come from 110 degree weather with my boys to spend 4 days here exclamation point was very clean, functional, and best view in town. Will do it again next year for sure!
Perfect spot for an ocean getaway!
We really loved our stay at the Dungeness Cottage! It had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Great beds and linens, comfortable couches, well furnished kitchen, great privacy and view of the sea. We used the hot tub both nights to relax and unwind after days spent exploring the coast. Very convenient to many sites and the great seafood in Newport. Highly recommend this cottage!
The Dungeness was fantastic!
My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at The Dungeness. The house was well appointed and comfortable. We watched whales several mornings of our stay from the breakfast table! We highly recommend staying here. I know we will again!
