About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bath, full kitchen

Secluded cabin in a wooded setting with private Swan Range views. Only three miles to Bigfork Village. Private outdoor space, trails, and solitude await. The perfect base camp for you to rest your head between adventures. Close to rivers, lakes, and trails. This location gives you all of the Montana privacy you desire with only a short distance to Bigfork's amenities.

The lodge is divided into two separate sides making it ideal for families or groups traveling together. Since this is also the home of our winter dogsled tours, the lodge sides are named after traditional dogsled commands, "Gee" (right) and "Haw" left. "Gee" has a queen bed and private bath. "Haw" side is a queen bed on the lower level, with bath as well, and a spiral stair leads up to a semi private loft with two additional full size beds and a sofa. The center of the lodge is a full kitchen and communal space that works great for gathering. Each side has its own private entrance and covered porch area.

About Samantha Schurke

Since 2007 we have been calling Bigfork, Montana our home.

We wanted to start a family business that would allow us the opportunity to share our love of the outdoors with others. Having lived and traveled throughout much of this great country we couldn’t have picked a better place to start this endeavor. Lakes, mountains, rivers, and millions of acres of public lands are just a few of the features that make Bigfork the perfect “base camp” for a wide range of outdoor pursuits. Our purpose is to provide you with quality guided adventures, local insight to better enjoy your own, and a comfortable place to stay in between.

Hope to see you soon,

Mark and Samantha Schurke

We truly enjoyed the stay- especially the tranquility and scenery. The place is decorated nicely and we felt very welcomed. Thanks for the tour of the kennels... We would definitely return- your place is convenient and reasonably priced for the Bigfork area.

Charming cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 2 glorious nights in this little cabin in the woods. Mark and Samantha, the owners, were so very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The cabin is so cozy and has just the right amount of space needed for 2 people who just want to get away from it all. It is only about 10 minutes from downtown Bigfork and about that far from Swan Lake and Flathead Lake. Mark has kayaks and mountain bikes for rent and also runs a dogsledding/carting business with Inuit sled dogs. It was a blast getting a tour of the kennels where the dogs are kept. We even got to hold the newest pups which were adorable. We took a 3 hour kayak trip down the Swan River which was like floating on glass. Mark went out of his way to make sure we had a great time and even gave us free put-in and pick-up service. Mark also told us where we could find huckelberries so we spent about an hour in the woods picking the sweet berries (of course we brought our bear spray!!) You should definitely stay here if you enjoy a cozy retreat at a great price!

A wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place from which to explore the Flathead Valley area. The cottage was very clean and we found everything to be as described. It is only five or ten minutes from Bigfork, but is in a very quiet and secluded area. The location was perfect for us and was a great place for me to try my hand at taking pictures of the Milky Way at night. The owners were great hosts and we really liked getting to see the kennel and learning about their Inuit sled dogs. We especially enjoyed getting to hold a couple of newly born puppies. We would stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends.

Very pretty and secluded.

What a great spot to enjoy Big Fork, MT. This was our first trip to the Big Sky country and we LOVE it! The listing was very accurate. Accommodations were comfortable and clean. Mark took us on a tour of his kennel and gave us a history of his pack that was very informative and interesting. The Swan River was a short, easy walk from the cabin. We even got to enjoy watching a fly-fisherman cast one morning! Big Fork was a great town to knock around in with many places to eat and drink as well as some cool shops to explore. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to enjoy the area. Oh well, it gives us a reason for a return trip:) We highly recommend this cabin and would book it again. Thanks Mark!

Completely Charming

  • 5 of 5

Completely Charming...perfect little vacation cottage for anyone looking to get away from it all with their pet! The photos do not do justice to the cottage. So cute and comfortable, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to my friends or family. The icing on the cake for me was how extremely clean it was. The title of affordable luxury is quite appropriate.

Loved the location. Loved the hospitality. Warmth, genuine friendliness, What a wonderful experience. Even place for our kid! What this cottage might lack in 5 star equipment, it makes up for a million times over in cleanliness and sheer peaceful atmosphere. We will be returning without a doubt! Can't WAIT to visit again!

Relaxing retreat, adventure and beautiful wilderness destination.

  • 5 of 5

I frequent VRBO properties and this is one of my favorites for many reasons. The location of this little cottage makes you feel like you are in the wilderness yet close enough to conveniences, hiking and the lake. The property is nicely laid out and the owners could not be more welcoming and available to help make your stay enjoyable. Talk about adventure, you can arrange for a dog sled ride that begins just outside your front door. The cabin is so comfortable and there was plenty of room inside and out for my dog to make herself at home. Overall, great place, can't say enough good things and hghly recommend a visit.
