About this property
Year-Round Adirondack Chalet on Paradox Lake Inlet, Constructed in 2004
Great location only 1.5 miles from Northway/Rt 87. Steinmetz Lodge is a year-round Adirondack chalet located on Paradox Lake inlet. This year-round vacation home of 2300 square feet, constructed in 2004, is ideal for families with kids. The property has its own private waterfront and boat dock on the inlet, 150 yards from the lake, and access to a quiet, sandy, community beach for sunbathing/swimming. The Lodge has a fully-equipped kitchen and large family room on the main floor with a cathedral ceiling, Adirondack beams, gas stove/fireplace, and two sliding glass doors to a wraparound deck overlooking the waterfront. On the main floor there are two bedrooms (queen-size beds) and two bathrooms with showers and a third bedroom (queen-size bed) in the upstairs loft. Downstairs, there is a fourth bedroom (queen-size bed, a large sitting room area, pool table, card/game table, a rustic Adirondack pine-top bar and refrigerator, a gas stove/fireplace, a trundle or day-bed sofa (sleeps 2 persons), and a laundry room with a washer/dryer and bathroom with shower. A sliding door opens to the ground level for easy access to the large boat dock and fire pit sitting area. Paradox Lake is ideal for boating, sailing, waterskiing, swimming, and bird watching—there’s a pair of nesting bald eagles, loons, and herons. The fishing is excellent, with bass, trout, and northern pike. You can play tennis on the public courts at the nearby Town of Schroon Lake and golf at the Schroon Lake Municipal Golf Course and Ticonderoga Country Club. Terrific hikes of varying lengths and difficulty, from Severance Hill in Schroon Lake, 5 minutes from the Lodge, to the nearby Pharaoh Wilderness with numerous trails and remote ponds and scenic mountains. The High Peaks area is along the spectacular 50-minute drive north through Keene Valley to Lake Placid. Artsy Saranac Lake, with its excellent restaurants, is west of Placid. For those seeking to go to Montreal, it is just a little over two hours from the Lodge. In the other direction it is only one hour to Saratoga Springs and the summer racing season.
Hiking guides are available in the Lodge. Fall is a wonderful time to hike and enjoy the glorious color changes. In the winter, go ice fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Downhill skiing at Gore Mtn. is a 35-minute drive and Whiteface is 45 minutes. The Lodge is close to many popular attractions, including Fort Ticonderoga, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Lake George, and Saratoga. What a great place to go with family and friends. The house, the location, and the amenities were perfect. We had all kinds of different weather the week we were there, so the pool table was perfect for the rainy days, and the lake/beach were perfect for the sunny days. We absolutely would stay again!

Thank you for staying with us at Steinmetz Lodge and we appreciate your leaving the place so nice. We hope you will stay with us again. Best wishes, Lloyd
Steinmetz Lodge provides for a wonderful ADK experience. Paradox Lake itself has excellent fishing and boating opportunities. My 2 year old Granddaughter didnt want to get out of the lake. The owners of Steinmetz Lodge make sure all your needs are covered. Excellent hosts...
Despite 3 days of rain, we really enjoyed our stay at this welcoming chalet. The house was clean and well equipped. The game room was entertaining during the bad weather. The fishing was great and the lake is beautiful.

Thank you. We are very pleased that you had a good time. Please keep Steinmetz Lodge in mind for your future vacation plans. All the best!
This was exactly what we needed, and all I can say is that everything exceeded our expectations. The communication with Larry was excellent prior to and following our stay. The house was clean and tidy, plenty of separate sleeping rooms, and the basement was the perfect hang out spot to play cards, pool, and fix a drink or two! We were also perfectly positioned to head out on the ice and fish on Paradox. We all had a blast and are already planning our return visits. Thank you again so much for sharing your Steinmetz Lodge with us!

We are delighted that you guys had a great weekend and that you enjoyed the accommodations and amenities at Steinmetz Lodge and the ice fishing on Paradox Lake. We hope that you consider staying with us again next year. Larry S, Steinmetz Lodge
Group of seven guys who grew up together and have been going on mostly fishing trips for the past forty years.Let me first say that we’re not a group looking for a immaculate five star resort and I’m guessing if your looking for a lodge on a lake in the Adirondack’s than neither are you. That being said we all enjoyed Steinmetz Lodge tremendously , especially the downstairs bar and game room. The place is clean and comfortable. The pool table and card table were used nightly. There is plenty of parking for at least six vehicles. The dock worked out perfectly and I really appreciate Larry for going out of his way to accommodate my 21ft fishing boat. Paradox lake is a beautiful little lake and if you’re looking to fish, kayak, canoe or paddle board it’s an ideal location. We were lucky and had almost perfect weather all week. Nice fire pit down by the water and room in the yard to play cornhole or other games. The house is great for large groups and if the weather isn’t cooperating there is plenty of room to stretch out and relax down at the bar and play pool or cards or just watch a movie. Should mention that it has great WiFi and cell service as a couple guys had work issues to deal with, otherwise we only used it for Netflix a couple times. I’ve been booking these trips for forty years and Larry is definitely one of the nicest guys I’ve ever dealt with. If you’re looking for a Adirondack lodge with plenty of room you can’t go wrong. We will be back

10 of us spent Thanksgiving weekend here. It was super cold outside so we spent most of the time indoors. We lived in the game room. So much fun. Larry was great. He was super prompt and courteous in responding to our questions and the house is filled with notes, maps, recommendations etc. We are very glad we chose to stay here.
Second time we stayed at the house. Enjoy the direct water access for paddling as well as proximity to hiking trails. The layout of the house is great for family style meals and evening fun either outside at the fire or downstairs in the bar and game room!
Paradox Lake was our summer vacation every year when I was growing up. It felt so good to be “home” again, and with my parents being there, it made the trip all the more special. We wish we could visit every year like we used to when we were kids. We had a great time.
Good location on the outlet cove, shallow area for kids to play in the water and easy to launch the kayaks. Great setting of the fire pit. House was clean and well maintained. Owner was quick and prompt to reply to questions. Great value to be on the water!
This was our 2nd trip to the camp for ice fishing. We had a great time!! The camp is in a great location and large enough for our group. It’s a great camp to be at and very comfortable to be there. Lawerence is great to work with and we’ll be back again.
Our family had a wonderful weekend at the lodge. The canoe was a very nice amenity. It got used a lot. Being on the inlet was great for the kids (4 around age 10) with the quiet water. The fire pit and grill were also used . In the lodge the kitchen and living spaces were well organized and comfortable. The beds left a bit to be desired but that was probably because we are used to our king memory foam beds. The mattresses could definitely be upgraded.
All in all everyone had a great time and hope to do it again next year.
We had a great experience, perfect size for a small family gathering. Cabin was well appointed, had everything you would need. Game room downstairs was perfect for the teens. Paradox Lake is beautiful, more peaceful than Schroon Lake. We hope to go again!
We just spent a wonderful relaxing week at Steinmetz Lodge. The house was roomy and clean (and had great Wi-fi!). The kitchen had everything we needed, and with the outdoor grill we ate in every night. We all fell in love with the quiet and beautiful Paradox Lake, and Schroon Lake was a quick ride away. Will definitely be staying here again!
This house was perfect for a long fall weekend getaway. It comfortably accommodated 10 guests. The property was clean and quiet and the rec area in the basement was perfect.

Adirondack comfort
The Lodge is very comfortable and perfectly situated to visit Gote Mtn and North Creek, Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. The nearby village of Schroon Lake has a small supermarket, some restaurants, gift shops and music in the summer. Seagle Music Colony is a grand venue but reserve well in advance. The Lodge has plenty of visitor pamphlets and helpful issues of Adirondack Life magazine.

lovely place
Nice place to spend a few days. We enjoyed our stay a lot, even though it rained and the lake wasn't frozen. The house was cozy and warm, plenty of space for two families. Everything was just as advertised, and the owners were very pleasant to deal with.

Great house/great location!
We were delighted with the house and location. Plenty of dishes, cookware—everything we needed. Comfortable beds, a large kitchen table and everything was well-maintained. The large porch has a beautiful view of the river and provides seating in both the sun and the shade. Two kayaks came with the rental and they were good ones! Met many friendly neighbors on the short walk to the sandy beach. We hope to stay here again!
