Why Steve Walker chose Homewood
Grandma Walker bought it for our vacation home. We are constantly updating and improving it. We just added a huge covered deck that connects to 3 sides of the home.
What makes this Cabin unique
The area along the side of our Lake, 4 houses away, has the longest stretch of public beach to walk along on the entire lake. We love to take walks in the morning and evening, or bike along side the Lake. People come from all over just to be able to take long walks, bike, and picnic. Out back, you can hike or bike along the road near Blackwood Creek. Our neighborhood is very quiet, and peaceful. Our back yard is flat. The neighborhood annual party is always in our back yard. We host about 50 people. 'The Honneymoon House' is it's nick name. There have been several weddings in our back yard.

It was a very comfortable place
It was spectacular. The home's location was very good. The house had everything for relaxation for every season. I especially want to say that it was very homely and comfortable cabin. Thank you Steve Walker for letting us enjoy ourselves in that wonderful cabin. In case we ever go back to Lake Tahoe, we will surely pick this cabin again. We already miss the house. Thanks.
When I arrived, it felt like I was home
What a wonderful property!
Five homes down the hill to the lake with a private dock, a gourmet kitchen with everything needed to prepare any dish, a garage to secure my car, a beautiful covered deck around 3 sides of the house, a jacuzzi bath tub, internet and cable with TVs in almost every room and a gas barbecue on the deck outside.
All the creature comforts of home. Even a fireplace in the living room with plenty of firewood available. A pool table in the playroom downstairs with a franklin stove to keep you warm. The whole house is beautifully decorated. Anything you would need to keep you comfortable is there.
What a joy waking up in the woods, birds singing and chipmunks scurrying all around on the ground. Vibrant life everywhere!
1 tip: Grab the bedroom downstairs with direct access to the outside deck and leave the curtains open for the view when you wake up in the morning. The property backs up to a state "pack-in" campground so you have lots of privacy.
I hated to leave, I felt so comfortable here. if I were to have my own cabin up in Lake Tahoe, this is the way I would set it up. (As a matter of fact, if it was up for sale as-is, I would probably buy it!)
WE WILL RETURN! (Again and again)
This basic, rustic home has what you need to be comfortable, but also remind you that you are up in the woods; comfortable. Outstanding kitchen. The location is wonderful. The pier on the lake is easy to access and close. While we didn't use the game room, it will be wonderful for our kids when we come back in the winter.
The deck space is wonderful anytime of year and plenty of yard that backs up to the woods. We found ourselves relaxed immediately!
As good as ever. It's our go to place to get out of the heat, stay cool, and always enjoy the simplicity and quietness of it.
We loved the location and deck
Pros: The location is incredible. The cabin is close to the lake and has a wide open field in the back that allows you to feel like you are truly in nature. You can walk down to the lake. It is far enough away from all the hustle and bustle of the busy South Lake Tahoe and North Lake Tahoe areas but close enough to be able to go and enjoy what they have to offer. The back yard is nice and fenced in. We enjoyed it. The deck is awesome and we spent all of our evenings out there eating and playing games. (below the deck is a hoarders dream though, very cluttered) The bedroom that opens out to the back deck is the nicest bedroom in the house.
There is plenty of room for you to park in the garage and in the driveway. Having the laundry room was very helpful. The machines work great!
Cons: The cabin is pretty out dated and run down. The dishwasher didn't work and the manager forgot to tell us about it being broken and also didn't tell us that there was a repair person coming in to fix it in the middle of our stay. We came back to a business card on the counter and that was quite a shock. We felt uncomfortable knowing that someone had come into the place while we were gone for the day. I emailed the manager and he said he forgot to tell us.
The cabin is cramped full of unnecessary furniture and things. The recliner is broken, the games are all missing pieces, the dart board has no darts, the pool table is in a position that isn't easy to make all your shots due to a broken stereo on a shelf behind it and a lot of furniture. The basement is creepy, no one wanted to sleep down there and we were all adults. The beds are all very hard. The jet tub was filthy dirty with mold growing in the jets.
Summary: The location and outdoor space made this cabin a place that we could all enjoy. Better communication about the dishwasher and a repair person coming in would have been appreciated.
Yes, I recommend this property
-Clean, lots of towels and well stocked kitchen
-Large inclosed backyard, wrap around deck and living room, endless places to lounge.
-Wifi and cable/Netflix allows multiple users wo slowing
-owner response to email is about 1-2 hours
-Great for families with kids
-Beds are very firm
-Dishwasher and garbage disposal did not work. (No fault to the owners, pervious guest issues)
-Basement game room is a little creepy and the stairs are steep. Dangerous for kids under 6.
-Top level is very stuffy/humid
Take it or leave it
-Top level bathroom needs a new shower curtain and the comforters could use an upgrade.
-Late 4pm check in
-Although the house was clean, beds were not not made until after 5pm and the washer/dryer had linens sitting in it from housekeeping not have time to finish.
-The bear issues are no joke. Our car was not locked and a bear opened the door and scavenged for food. Be cautious.
Overall, we had an amazing time staying at this property. It's so close to the lake and a paved trail, short drive to attractions, and has a beautiful enclosed backyard. Thank you for opening your house to us!
We're located in Skyland on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe between Sunnyside and Homewood. We're just four doors up from the Lake where we have access to a private beach and pier. You can go cross country skiing or hiking right out the back door since we back up to the Kaspian State Park.
