This 5,500+ square foot, 'arts & crafts' style house is built entirely out of old-growth redwood, (even the floors and ceilings). There is a lot of artwork, making it a very unique home- unlike any other generic rental house you will see. Above all, its a very special experience. For wine lovers, there are several wineries within walking distance.
The daily rate is $1200/night. Should you wish to stay a partial month, the rate is the same daily rate/night.
We are vintners.
Its like no other property. Very private & unique. Great energy. Total Serenity. Not a typically generic vacation rental. This house has soul.
Had a great family visit.
The house was beautifully maintained and the grounds/yard were stunning! We had a great time every morning drinking our coffee and watching the sunrise.
We spent 3 fantastic days in this home! The views were spectacular and the home was warm, comfortable and eclectic. Everywhere you look, inside and out, there's something new to discover!
Julia was great to work with. She gave us wonderful recommendations about what to do and where to go. Perata limo was one of her suggestions and they were also great. Nothing bad to say! Honestly, a great stay!
We had a wonderful and relaxing family time in Napa. Although the drive up to the top was a bit long and winding, the property was worth it and had stunning views of Napa Valley. The house was very eclectic with so much to see that 4 days was definitely not enough time to see everything. The lay out is very spread out with private bathrooms for each bedroom so a great place for several couples or larger groups who like their privacy. We enjoyed picking fruit from the trees in the morning for breakfast and really enjoyed the outdoor patio spaces in the evenings for grilling and eating dinner and talking and playing games. Kitchen had everything you could need to prepare meals. Although the house was old, it was maintained nicely and everything was clean and well kept and comfortable. Morning view from the Master bedroom and bathroom with the clouds hanging over the valley is breathtaking and an outstanding way to wake up each morning. We had a great time and would highly recommend this peaceful and unique property.
Everything was wonderful at this amazing location. The people involved from the owner to the person who checked us in and out were marvelous. The location was beyond words - sincerely above the clouds. Each morning the valley below is carpeted in a shroud of fog clouds with nothing but pure clear skies above and the tops of the mountains popping out - such a view! Wake up early and see the horizon turn orange as the sun approaches from the east and then see Mr. Sunshine pop up over the top - what an experience, do it! The property is huge and way up top of Spring Mountain. The drive up initially is daunting, but it is no big deal after the first time (just expect a 15 minute drive from St. Helena up to the property). You pass vineyards and lovely forest on the way, so it is beautiful. Now to the property itself. The grounds are simply amazing - on the edge of a vineyard, fantastic plant life and of course so many views. The pool area is amazing and great to spend time (if we only had it - I suggest if the weather is good to plan a few hours relaxing there). The home is HUGE and decorated to the hilt with art. To some it may be a bit much, but regardless of your decorating taste you have to appreciate the effort put in to this place. Bedrooms and baths are large and comfortable. We needed all 4 bedrooms for my family and everyone felt comfortable and had their own privacy and bath. The common areas are also so comfortable. The kitchen is a country kitchen and we did cook in one night and had dinner out on the porch which was fabulous. It helped avoid having to drive back up from dinner in the dark, which on evening #1 was kind of challenging but doable.
Great place for a large family (like ours) or a group of couples to spend time - totally central to all wine areas in the valley. We did 2 per day which is plenty.
The “Estate Above the Clouds” house has some really terrific views down a side valley and farther down into Napa Valley below making the fifteen minute drive up from or down to St Helena worthwhile. Whether watching the sunrise over the clouds below or hawks circling above the hills, the views are unmatched. The house is situated on a large, quiet property with multiple locations for gathering and relaxing. Sun or shade, inside or out, you will find a spot to sit with your friends. There are several vineyards located close by and you could spend a couple days visiting them with no need to venture further down into the valley. Yet even at this mountaintop location, we were able to call for and use Uber drivers to visit wine tastings and restaurants in the valley.
That said, there are some caveats: People sensitive to dust and mold will need to bring their allergy medicine as every horizontal surface in the house is packed with knick-knacks and all were covered in dust. The house was ralatively clean, but there’s no way to clean the hundreds of garage sale art items located throughout. The multiple wood decks surrounding the house are starting to rot and have a fair amount of mold. The house has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. Unfortunately, the shower in one of the baths was situated inside a deep, wooden tub. The difficulty in getting in and out was only mitigated by the fact that none of our guests would actually try get into the tub due to the poor condition of the wood on the inside of the tub (pretty high ick factor here). So guests using the bedroom associated with that bath were forced to use someone else’s shower each day.
There were a couple other specific problems during our stay: When we arrived in mid-afternoon, the house was 85 degrees inside. The AC had not been turned on and the house didn’t cool down until overnight. Also, we lost all water pressure midday on another day with no toilets, showers, etc. until hours later that night. Both issues ended up as relatively minor bumps in the road but could have turned into significant problems if not resolved when they were. When we called them in, there was no commitment that these issues would be rersolved quickly. The stress of waiting for resolution and the concern that we might have to move to a hotel was certainly palpable.
Finally, our contact prior to arrival, Julia, was a pleasure to work. Julia was easily able to accomodate changes to our schedule.
