Beautiful location, comfortable and unique accommodations! We loved the Treehouse and the suite connected by the elevated deck. Beautiful views and nicely private, even with guests at the waterfront properties. Would definitely recommend!
What a great little spot! The house(s) were clean and comfortable. It’s really cool that one of the bedrooms/bathrooms is a separate building. This would be a great rental for a pair of couples. The scenery was gorgeous. With just a quick walk down the driveway you are right on the coast. It’s about a 20 minute drive into downtown Bar Harbor and even less time to Acadia. If we ever head back to Bar Harbor we will definitely be staying here again.
We had an amazing time here and were thoroughly impressed by the property! It has all the accommodations you could want, and offers beautiful views along with convenient access to everything on Mt. Desert Island, including Acadia National Park. Whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway or a week-long extended stay, this beautiful property will provide you with everything you could ask for!
Susan was very responsive. She went out of her way to accommodate us! My only wish was to see more of the water, if they could trim some of the trees, it would be perfect!
Such a cozy place. Nettled in a woodland setting. Views of water. Just what we were looking for. I forgot to write in the guestbook, I enjoyed all the stories from previous guest.
Friends and I spent a week in September in the Treehouse and had a wonderful experience and only saw 1 squirrel. When we arrive the house was clean right down to the refrigerator and was very airy. Having the bungalow was very nice giving each of us our own sleeping space. It was so fun to do dishes and watch out for eagles. The Treehouse had everything you needed – the provided linens were very nice.
I wish the description would have included some information on the type of access road; it was not a good road for a low riding car as one of the cars sustained damage from bottoming out .. SUV as best. Also the outside stone steps I felt were a little dangerous especially when wet.
I would definitely recommend the Treehouse to anyone looking for a quiet get away yet having accessibility to all of MDI.
The Tree House is a great property with a perfect location. The property was even better in person than the pictures. It would be a great property for a family of 5, with older children, or two couples. There were just the two of us, so we didn't use the bungalow (across the deck from the main house), but it would have been perfect for our college-age children. The property is a short walk (0.10 mile) to the water. We kayaked several days from the Tree House. We were delighted to find the colony of seals (about 15 in all) to the right side of Green Island. We were able to see them with binoculars from the shore and got a closer look from the kayak. We could hear them "barking" and "howling" from the deck. There were also loons in the cove. The property is a quick 10-15 minute drive to Acadia and maybe 15 minutes to Bar Harbor. We spent our days biking and hiking in Acadia and our afternoons kayaking in the cove behind the property. We ate breakfast and (take-out) dinner on the back deck each day. It was truly a perfect property. Charlotte's Lobster Pound and Royal Indian (Bar Harbor) were our top dinner picks.
We would highly recommend this property to others. I hope we are able to return sometime soon with our three children.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Nice remote location but the house needs some work
We stayed at the Treehouse in early Oct and I have been going back and forth about whether or not I should leave a review. I have spoken with the owners who are very kind, and they have shared our concerns with their cleaner and caretaker, both of which are new this year. I didn't want to leave a critical review and possibly hurt their business, but I rely on honest reviews and believe others do, too. I suspect most of the issues that follow will be resolved by the time the Treehouse opens for the spring.
First, the location is perfect. It is quiet and there is only one other house that is close by. We saw seals when we walked down to the area that you can launch a kayak or canoe. We also saw a bald eagle one morning.
Unfortunately, you can see only glimpses of the water from the Treehouse. The trees have grown since the pictures were taken that are on VRBO, so you see mostly trees.
We didn’t bring our kayaks, but we were looking forward to sitting near the launch area and enjoying the water view. This didn’t happen. The launch area is very close to another house and to enjoy the water would be very intrusive to those renting that house, as you would practically be on their back deck. I stood there one afternoon and watched the seals when the renters weren’t home, but I felt incredibly uncomfortable and only stayed a few minutes. I think this should be better clarified on the listing.
The granite stairs leading up to the house are tricky when it is raining, dark out, and when you are carrying luggage and/or groceries.
The house needed a good cleaning to get rid of the musty smell, mold, dust, and cobwebs. It could also use some general maintenance like replacing the front screen door that has duct tape holding the screen, fixing the bungalow door so it isn’t so difficult to open and adding or fixing the lock, replacing the broken toilet seat, securing the lights above the bed so they aren’t dangling on a small hook, and replacing the blind in the bungalow since it doesn’t work and only covers half of the window. These are the items that the owners have discussed with their caretaker and cleaner so they shouldn’t be an issue for future renters.
When we rented the treehouse, we weren’t expecting luxury, but we were looking forward to staying in a clean, well maintained home, with harbor and island views. I don’t want others to be as disappointed as we were.
Every communication with the host was met with prompt responses. They were great to work with. The property was just as it was described on VRBO. Very private, very quiet and extremely comfortable. Not fancy, but super cozy and had everything we needed. Location was also great. We could get into the main areas of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor in 30 minutes or so. Highly recommend.
The treehouse was just the most precious ever. We felt so at home in the trees and at this beautiful place. We so enjoyed walking down to the water with our pup and exploring Green Island and Bar Harbor and Seal Harbor. We loved the comfy living room and the pellet stove. It was the most perfect spot to come back to after a long day of hiking and enjoying Maine. So thankful and would totally come back.
We returned to the Treehouse for another fantastic time on Mt Dessert Island. Such a unique property, very private and we had access to launch our kayaks down by the waters edge. We had a perfect trip !
Our family stayed at the treehouse with our pup for a much needed vacation in nature. After working hard through Covid we needed time in the forest. Just taking the first steps onto the deck we knew this was the perfect spot! Being up in the spruce and moss, listening to the seals down in the cove, and gazing at the Milky Way and the stars in the dark night sky was just magical. The house is very clean, cool architecture, and was the perfect size for our family to spread out. Close to all points of Acadia, with lots of other smaller nature walks close by. The hosts were helpful and warm, and we are ready to book our week for next year already. I highly recommend for a very relaxing and special place to stay!!
This is a true hidden gem! To our surprise this location had everything we ever wanted and more. Tucked away from the crowds, you can have a private slice of beauty and wonder all to yourself. Expanding mossy woods up against the rocky cove. Hike or boat just out the front door. The cottages are so unique, warm and inviting. Dog friendly too! You quickly settle into vacation mode staying here. Enjoy coastal living like the locals, but close enough to most things you’ll never feel left out of the action. Or far away from the lobster!
My husband and I stayed at the treehouse for one week this September. It was such a nice stay! The house, the deck, etc - such a a beautiful spot. And very easy to make yourself at home - the house had a coffee maker, lobster pot, tea pot, paper towels, regular towels and linens, etc. I was happy I didn’t have to worry about forgetting something. Susan was very sweet too and made everything easy. Our dog was welcome too and we all had the most amazing time hiking in Acadia :)
We had another great stay at the Treehouse. It is such a great location for land and sea adventures! We love staying here. Thank you for sharing the Treehouse with us again.

Peaceful woodland getaway
This location is very private in the woods and is so peaceful. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck! We saw deer, a raccoon, and a porcupine when driving to and from the house.
The tree house is in an extremely private location where you can see the grey seals from the windows and the red squirrels on the porch. Away from the daily crowds in Bar Harbor, the tree house has all the amenities to prepare your own lobster dinner if you choose, or dine out as you can get anywhere on the island within 25 minutes. If you are looking for pure elegance, the tree house is probably not for you, as it has everything you need for an enjoyable stay, and is updated enough to be very comfortable.
Scott was helpful and easy to contact, and allowed us to extend our stay an extra day as we enjoyed the tree house so much.
The house is just as described and the perfect place to relax or use as a starting point for day trips to Acadia or elsewhere on the island. It was so nice to wake up every morning to the sound of the breeze in the pines and seal barks at low tide. The address given is tricky as it is the fire road as mentioned in previous reviews. Otherwise, we loved our time there.
