Private getaway with beautiful lake views!

Welcome to our private Lake House Getaway located on the small and tranquil, Lake Decorah in Mauston, WI. You can enjoy peace and quiet while staying here, but you are also close to the exciting attractions in Wisconsin Dells (28min away) or another close by lake; Castle Rock Lake (18min away). Nature, wildlife, sunrises and sunsets await you! Hot-tub relaxation in our enclosed porch overlooking the lake. Private pier for fishing. The lake is great for fishing, ice fishing, kayaks and canoes. It can be a bit weedy, so swimming is at your discretion. For safety of all, we have audio/video motion sensor surveillance facing outwards on the property.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

This was our first time here, and a great time was had by all. Great views of the lake, secluded (located at the end of dead end street). House has everything you will need, and the host Kristin was great with everything. Definitely hope to come back!

It was so peaceful. The perfect pre-Memorial Day getaway. The house has everything you need for cooking, and the views from the kitchen and living room are gorgeous. There's a lot of wildlife to watch too. The weather was a bit chilly, but that's to be expected this time of the year. Would love to return sometime in the summer or early fall.

We had a great time in Mauston, and Kristin was very communicative and an exceptional host!First off, the house was in a very private location at the end of a dead end street, it was great to have that privacy. The house was very clean on our arrival which we were thankful for.The living areas are spacious, there were three of us and we had four friends over for a total of seven, and we had ample room both inside and out, including in the kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware. Having two bathrooms was also a huge plus.We made full use of the two piers out back on the lake, the kids caught numerous panfish on both red worms and wax worms. Having the canoe with life jackets ready to go was a ton of fun as well!Festival Foods is close by, it is a good sized grocery store with everything we needed. The Mobil gas station across from Festival has a great live bait selection! So, this house is the perfect spot for the whole family to have an excellent trip!Kristin, thank you for being so accommodating, we will most certainly be back!

Great quiet place

For us it was a jackpot - we love to fish , sitting by the fire pit, relax in jacuzzi, we are coming back 100% . Not much to do in the neighborhood it's a small town but if you like all above this place is for you.

This property was beautifully maintained. The hot tub was spotless. Everything was spotless. The linens were good quality cotton. The host was super easy to communicate with. Checkin was quick and simple. The home is well appointed and will easily accomodate families. The views are spectacular!

Just relax

For us it was a huge break from everyday's big city responsibilities, fire pit and fishing that's what we need to charge the batteries.

Summer Getaway

Perfectly appointed little place on the water

Great place for a “meet in the middle” weekend between Minneapolis and Chicago. Very clean with large common places to spend time in together. Whole place — particularly thee kitchen — had everything we needed and more. They’ve thought of everything.

Hidden gem in Mauston

Beautiful and private lake home with amazing morning and sunset views on the calm water. Felt very private and secluded despite being just minutes from downtown Mauston. Really enjoyed the screened in porch (with lights and a fan) at sunset and there is enough space for yard games, laying out or a picnic. Host was very responsive!

Nice stay in Mauston

A very clean and comfortable house for 2 adults and 2 kids. We especially enjoyed the screen porch and hot tub and fishing off the dock. It was extremely hot several of the days we were there so that limited some activities, but we went to the state park to swim and also drove into the Dells area a couple of times for adventures. Great house in a great location

My best friend and I stayed at this house over Memorial Day weekend and we had an absolute blast and made some incredible memories. The house had everything we needed and then some. It is right on the lake and is really private as it is at the end of a dead-end street. You are just a few minutes from downtown Mauston. The views were breathtaking. Kristin was very helpful with our questions and quick to respond. The only things I would suggest for future guests are to bring paper plates (they have dishes but they are heavy and we ate in the sunroom a couple of times so it's more for convenience), firewood (the listing states they do not provide this) and soap for your shower. We definitely plan to stay here again.

Quiet spot for relaxation

Well maintained vacation home on a quiet street. We stayed comfortably cool during the heat of summer by using the supplied fans to keep air moving. The single room air conditioner helped. We kept our small boat tied up to the dock with no issues. The paddle boat was fun to use. Caught some fish, but lake level was down a few feet due to drought conditions (Mother Nature to blame) Living area was comfy. Bathrooms were clean. Kitchen had everything we needed to make meals for the week. Mauston is a small community and we enjoyed some local dining and ice cream. Hit up Walgreens, Festival Foods and the local bait shop for things we forgot to bring. Overall we enjoyed our time and were able to relax!

Mid October fall colors

We had a wonderful fall break at this home. The weather turned cold and cloudy, but we still had fun at the apple orchard, on two different horse trail rides, and at the Dells. The house was very clean and the kitchen was well appointed. It had everything we needed and I loved the wall of windows with lake views! The bedrooms were small, but worked well for us. We all enjoyed the hot tub in the cool weather! The neighborhood is so-so, but there were no issues and the house is hidden on a cul-de -sac with no one on either side. It is amazing to be secluded on a lake, while still in a town. You can hear the trains and the traffic from the interstate, but this was not a problem. Do watch the tiny step down into the kitchen, as it is easy to trip over. Oh, and there was a small farmer's market on Saturday. We got some produce, along with Amish bread and pie! We were very happy with our stay.

Kristin is a top -notch host! The home and property had many thoughtful extra touches that showed a concern for her lodger’s comfort. It’s setup for a small family, but my husband and I enjoyed the extra space as well as the newer walk- in shower which was AWESOME and appreciated by us senior citizens for comfort and ease of access. The view of the lake was visible from the screened porch, kitchen and living room. We were there in the fall, but I can see that the lake may not the best for swimming with the amount of weeds. Also, at times the layer of algae did impede the fishing. Thankfully, due to a river that feeds into and runs through the center of the lake , along with enough wind, the current during the morning hours cleared the algae around the fishing pier which allowed for great fishing! I was able to catch and release some nice sized large -mouth bass, perch and panfish from right off the pier! Overall, we found September to be a quiet and ideal time for us. The only downside- we couldn’t bring our couch potato of a dog, but I guess that helps us to relax as well, having only ourselves to take care of. We hope to return again soon!

The neighborhood surrounding this home would not have been our first choice for location, but we have never had any issues. It was the quiet surroundings and beautiful lake views from the property that drew us in. Sit and relax and enjoy the breathtaking views, so serene!

What makes this property unique

The lake is quiet and small. We enjoy the calmness of the lake. The sunsets and sunrises are amazing while overlooking the lake. The minimal residential housing on the lake allows for the peaceful and tranquil views. To leave the hustle and bustle of life and come here to relax is what we hope our guests will enjoy.
