We have stayed at Ocean reef for several years. This was the first time we stayed in this unit, 607. Communication was difficult. I reached out to the owner 3 days prior to check in to inquire about the check in process bc the info was not provided in the automated email. 2 days later she said the info is provided the day of check in. However, I had to reach out again when we were two hours away because I had yet to receive any check in information.
Upon arrival, the unit was noticeably dirty.
We were left with 3 bracelets, No parking pass, no Information sheet, etc. I emailed her. she told me to pick up a packet from the office. This should’ve been taken care of prior to our arrival. Due to office hours, 4 days into our stay, we didn’t have necessary items.
Within the first 24 hours of being there we noticed the following:
- Dishwasher that was not secured to counter top and falls forward if you try to open it
- Missing smoke detector
- refrigerator drawers filled with water and water pooling in bottom of frig
- oven and stove covered with burnt food and debris
I immediately emailed the owner about the safety concerns with the smoke alarm and dishwasher. She sent a repair man. When he arrived I mentioned the other concerns and he immediately called her to report them.
I Never received an apology or acknowledgement that the property was left in this condition. Over the course of a couple days, we also noticed the microwave doesn’t rotate, oven doesn’t heat right and garbage disposal doesn’t work/ leaks under sink. The maintenance man came back several times to try to secure the dishwasher but a part had to be ordered. Without any notice, a second repair man came who was unaware that the first one had been there. He acknowledged that he couldn’t fix it and left. I sent the owner another email noting my concerns with the unit as well as the additional maintenance man showing up without prior knowledge. I also pointed out that due to the conditions of the unit, we had a repair man in the room for 5 our of 5 days. We left early. I emailed the owner with a long email of concerns, suggestions and request for partial refund. Her response basically said “we are taking care of the issues you told us about”. No apology. it is her job to know the condition of HER unit. I sent another email- no response. No acknowledgment of all the issues I noted or request for refund.
