Harold's Resort is located off the highway, in the woods, on the lake - a private peninsula - surrounded by water on 3 sides w/7 '1950's' LOG 'housekeeping' Cabins. Extra quiet, private & secluded. Safe for Families, Quiet for Couples. Great for fishing and swimming. Spider Lake is an all sports lake with 459 acres. No wake before 11 am & after 7:30 pm each day ensures the lake is extra quiet in the morning and evening

. Great pontoon boating lake with lots of exploring to do. When you are here, you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but there is easy access to town.. Traverse City that is. Also nearby in the Pere Marquette State Forest you will find: Hiking Trails, & Mountain Biking Trails. Ranch Rudolf is a short drive away for Horse Back Riding, Canoeing & Tubing on the Boardman River.

This cabin will be available from April 19 thru June 15, and Sept 3-10, 2018 for Nightly Rentals with Hot Tub and Linens included for 2 people only. June 16-Sept 2, 2018 this cabin will be available for a family of 2-4 people, by the week, Saturday to Saturday, , the hot tub is shut down in the summer and you will need to provide your own "linens". Starting Sept. 11, 2018 the property will become private property and will no longer be a rental property.

Come on up for our last summer !

Let me know what you are looking for...

HAROLDS RESORT, Spider Lake, Traverse City, MI

Summer Weekly Rental: Bring the family up for some quality time. Bring them to a place that time forgot. Remember going up north to the lake as a child? Well bring your children to the same place. Bring them to a place for some good ole fashion R & R. Bring your favorite board games, books, deck of cards, beach toys and fishing poles. I bet they don't ask for a TV all week... a miracle... After fishing, and swimming and chasing each other around, after dinner and a bonfire with roasted marshmallows and s,mores... they'll hit the hay and never even notice NO TV . Rainy day -- that''s when the games come out... or a trip to town to the Children's Museum - waves of wonder, or just a wet day outside... even if it wasn't raining, they'd be wet ... right ? !!! Rainy days are when the fish bite best... so hopefully you'll get at least one while you are here.

No pets allowed on the property, not even to visit, please and thank you.

About Kathy Schliess

We came to Harolds Resort on vacation from San Diego in the Fall of 1989. We fell in Love with Traverse City and Harolds Resort. We moved here in the Spring of 1990, with our son Dieter who was almost 2 years old and 8 1/2 years later our son Hunter was born. Update: 1/29/16: It is with a broken heart that I tell you of the passing of my husband Rolf on Friday, January 29, 2016. He passed unexpectedly and peacefully. He loved Harolds Resort as much as I do, and I will continue to run the Resort with extra help from my boys, and local contractors. His spirit is alive and well everywhere I go. In and around the Cabins and Resort property, I see his handy work, his blood, sweat and tears. Our goal was to always have a place where families and couples could come and spend quality time together, doing the simple things, and that goal has never been stronger or more important. If you knew Rolf, don’t be sad, be happy for what he did have and what he left behind, because he left it to me, to share with you... UPDATE: 11/1/17 I have sold the Harolds Resort property and for the first time in 27 years, the cabins have been closed up for the Winter. The new owners will open the cabins back up in April '18, and I will mange them all summer. On September 11, 2018 the property will become their private family compound. Please come and stay with us one more time ! Kathy

Why Kathy Schliess chose Traverse City

While we were here on vacation in 1989 we were telling the owner how much we loved Traverse City and Harolds Resort and he said - if you love it so much, why don't you buy it ? !! Just seemed like a good fit and an adventure and a great place to raise a family. And we were right.. and now we are GRAND PARENTS of twin boys ! Boy how time flies when you are having fun !

What makes this Cabin unique

Location, Location, Location... at the end of the road, off the highway, in the woods and on the lake. Surrounded by water on 3 sides. There is just not many places left that can give you the peace, quiet and solitude with easy access to all that downtown Traverse City and the surrounding area have to offer. We have TWO of these "Hot Tub Cabins" each has it's own personal hot tub on the screened in porch. Outside - yet semi private. Eddie Murphy was right when he said: "it's HOT in the Hot Tub" !!

                                                                  john k.

Stayed 4 nights with wife and 2 kids in early July. The resort was quaint and quiet with a sandy beach and very nice lake. Water was warmer than I thought it would be. Couldn't keep my girls of the swimming dock. Lake is very quiet in the morning and night so is nice for non-motorized usage. Cabin is small but we each had a bed and the comforts of home, and was clean. Lots of space in between cabins and plenty of space to roam around. 20 minute drive to downtown TC. About an hour to Sleeping Bear Dune. If you're looking for a low-key, relaxing, time with nature, for a great price, this is your place!

                                                                  Janeen S.

Cozy, comfortable, home away from home!

                                                                  Dean B.

Harold's Resort is awesome! Cabin was extremely clean, pleasant smelling and obviously cared for with love. The location is absolutely beautiful and private enough without being secluded. Don't let the outside of the cabins fool you, they are well furnished and comfy. The beds are soft and warm, and everything about the interior screams "comfort." My wife and I felt like we had been there for days the first afternoon, and my only regret was not booking another day. Nothing beats an icy night sitting in the hot tub on the porch while the snow falls. We will definitely be back :) Kathy and her sons obviously care a lot about the property, and do everything in advance to make you feel welcome. 10/10 would definitely recommend this for a cozy mid-winter getaway.

                                                                  Owner's Response:

Thank you for your kind words.. And so glad you loved the place.. We know that we are .. not for everyone.. some people "need" a hotel room.. But for the LUCKY ONES.. we are blessed to have this beautiful spot for you to come. I have myself in mind when I get the cabins ready, this is a place I would want to come. Rolf and I came here 27 years ago and stay in the very same cabin you did, it was not the same.. it needed some TLC and love - and that is what we have been giving all the cabins this whole time. We loved the place so much, we bought it and moved here from San Diego and we have never looked back.. this is where we.. and now I ..am suppose to be.. So again.. THANK YOU for loving our place and for your very kind words... Kathy
