Cancellations made 30 days prior to arrival will receive 100% of refund of all monies minus $ 39 Processing Fee and Any Credit Card Convenience Fees Paid.  If less then 30 days: the advanced rent is only refundable subject to the following: The property is re-rented for the same period. Re-rental of less than a full week will be refunded on a pro-rated basis. The Agent will retain a $39.00 processing charge and any convenience fees charged. *Deposits are not refunded for ANY reason (including bad weather).

Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at the Katie did as we walked out into each of the balconies and enjoy the view of the bay this is a peaceful area to be and to hear crickets and bugs all during the night gave it a memorable experience I would recommend this place to anyone who likes to hear night bugs and to see the storms that grew up in the bay. That is a gorgeous gorgeous view also

Lovely house overlooking the bay

We had a lovely week at The Katydid. We spent a lot of time at the beach on Assateague, but several days the weather did not cooperate and it was really nice to have a comfortable place to hang out.

Summer House

This is our second summer at Katydid. This house is so welcoming and makes you feel like you are right at home. It is an architecturally beautiful house, filled with small things remind you of family, and very convenient to stay.

Stayed here with our little kids and we thought it was nice and would return. Nice and quiet property with a great view of the bay, but not completely isolated as there are other houses right next door with people and dogs out. Well appointed and clean kitchen. Basic bedrooms, the bed mattresses were good. The one (1) sleeper sofa mattress was as expected for a sleeper. Bathrooms had standard fixtures with some wear but were clean and worked. Common rooms had some wear but were clean. Nice couches. Use of the screened in porch was limited due to the number of holes in the screens and door gaps, but given how nice the great room was, it wasn't a huge issue for us. Washer/dryer worked well.

We cook dinner almost every evening on vacation (little kids tired from beach) and the kitchen was very functional, with a brand new oven and microwave. We were pleasantly surprised to find a new grill too out on the deck. Each bedroom had its on bathroom which was very nice not to share. Best view was from bedroom upstairs and huge deck (maybe needs a couple extra chairs up there!). Screened in porch downstairs was very nice for evenings. Tons of parking. We saw lots of wildlife around. The house is so peaceful and secluded.

A very comfortable home that has enough room to spread out and relax after a nice day at the beach. Dine out on the screen porch or around a nice dining room table. Just enough kitchen appliances if your into cooking your vacation meals, but the oven is not the best. Plenty of parking and you won't feel as if your neighbors are on top of you.

We lived this house and wished we could stay a second week but work called. The house is prettier than all the pictures! The views, especially at sunset over the marsh were fabulous. We were only 2 people but the house was easily spacious enough for 6. The kitchen was thoroughly stocked with every sort of food preparation tool. The beds were comfy. The sofas and chairs were plentiful. The screen porch was why we chose the house. I spent half our time painting views from the house and very nearby Assateague park. I would highly recommend this house. The breezes were lovely.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is lovely and well equipped. The house is attractively decorated and quite cozy. The bay views are amazing. This was the perfect spot for a relaxing few days. I have two criticisms regarding rental policies that I found off-putting. Although they charge a hefty $150 cleaning fee, departure directions direct that the visitor vacuum and empty the dishwasher. Also, you must provide your own linens. For that large a cleaning fee, I think linens should be included. Also, the rental company requires a $600 deposit that I did not receive for two and a half weeks after my trip.

Wanted to Love It

The house location was perfect and the views are amazing. The house is spacius and very nice. The screened porch was great. However, the furnishings are not in line with the house. I felt like I was back in my dorm rec room. The furniture and adult beds are all just so uncomfortable that it was difficult to get a good night's sleep or relax after a long day. It was also very hot during our stay and given the instruction to not lower the AC below 70 due to concerns about 'freezing up" we spent the week with the house sitting at about 78 degrees. Finally, the house was not very clean when we arrived. I am certain we left it cleaner than we found it. All of this said, I still gave Katydid a 4 Star rating because the location and house itself are perfect. It just needs some upgrades and a better cleaning company to make it the perfect family beach house.

The house has a spacous, equipped kitchen, plenty of space to relax, a wonderful reading nook, and decks. We did enjoy our time here immensely due to its peaceful and beautiful location.Unfortunately the property is in need of some updates. One of the queen beds is tilted, with the front legs on risers, and cannot be adjusted. This is not ideal for any sleeping arrangement. The beautiful view from the main living area is obsuscated by bird stickers (why hide this gorgeous view!). All of the TVs and media devices on the premise are small and/or outdated (we dont need a VHS player!). The exterior of the house is in need of power-washing. One of the connecting patio doors is askew and couldn't be reliably locked. The lovely outdoor patio off of the main bedroom had broken chairs (fixed with duct tape). This served us well but for our vacation but we will be looking for a different property next time around.

I like Katydid but it is not waterfront as advertised. It is spacious and has beautiful windows and sitting areas. The screened porch is particularly comfortable and well located. Great kitchen. The house is convenient to downtown and to the beach.Waterfront means alongside, fronting on/or backing up to a body of water. From the back of the house you see water--the bay in the distance-- the house is separated from that water by a twenty-foot wide band of impenetrable thick grasses (7 - 8 feet high) and another 200? feet or so of marshy area. You can't walk to the water's edge --There is no path through there.I would describe it as "water view." I booked a 2-week stay and I expected waterfront as advertised.House is pretty well equpped but unlike most other rentals guests must bring their own: dish cloths and towelstrash bags for inside dishwasher soap, dish soapdish drainertea kettle- making tea, boiling water, pour overs, etc. House has Keurig machine w/o coffee provideddvd playergrill Basics- salt, pepper, sugarI would recommend this property with the caveat that it is not waterfront.

The new beds and Livingroom furniture was a great addition this year, but the stove/oven needs to be replaced...the oven door doesn't shut the whole way. I believe I left the place cleaner than when we arrived. There were finger marks on the microwave and dust and cobwebs on a lot of the furnishings.

Lovely- such a well stocked kitchen a beautiful view! The heat didn’t work but the property manager was open about it and brought us a heater- and there were plenty of blankets to use as well. A really nice home that was artfully decorated and in a really easy location to get to town and the nature reserve. Thank you!

Reviewer Comments: The house was beautiful and the views were beautiful from the upper levels but the overgrowth in front of the Marsh made it hard to see the water, while sitting down in the lower level. There was no actual water access which was very disappointing. The furniture was way too uncomfortable to sleep, also a previous reviewer noted a very uneven bed, which had not been fixed. There were lots of games and books, and the kitchen was well equipped, No grill outside and no extras for the beach, but I knew that before coming. The house would be nice for a big family because of the size,could sleep 10 but they do not alow more than 6. Felt very secluded, alot of overgrowth on road to the house, but then opened up to several houses.

The beds were awful - way too hard & the main bedroom's mattress is set at an angle & cannot be changed. We had to drive to Pocomoke after the 1st sleepless night to get foam mattress topper. Nice glasses/dishes/ pots/pans. Ice maker broken - should fix or supply ice cube trays. Annoying to have to clean before departure (we're on vacation!)- we left some things cleaner than when we arrived. Overall nice place but the beds are a deal breaker so we'll be looking for another home for our next visit.

Wonderful open house, overlooking the sound

This was a lovely property. It was neat clean and it had a nice open floor plan. The views of the sound were great, it had a nice upper deck and we enjoyed the outdoor screened in porch and ate most of our meals there. It was nice at times having two separate reading areas, and the kitchen was well stocked. Other guests and mention things like Watervue versus waterfront but sitting in the living room and the screened in porch we had a lovely views at Sunset, all you could ask for. I would definitely stay here next time I come back. And again reading some of the reviews it seems like some people just don’t get the overall house which is really quite lovely

The location is out of the busy part of town and very quiet. Some things were broken like a draw in the fridge and the ice maker. They have a policy that guests are supposed to essentially clean the house on departure but no one seems to check if it was done. We ended up vacuuming on arrival and cleaning on departure. Not what we want to be doing on vacation, especially at these rates

Beautiful Place

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: As we indicate below, we were very satisfied. But, as owners previously of a rental home on the island, and having stayed in many others, we have a few suggestions:- provide garbage bags for the kitchen garbage can. We didn't know what size to buy, if we could even get them on the island, or if we'd be able to use the extra. We bought large trash bags, which aren't a neat solution.- Provide a tea kettle. Fewer and fewer people use a proctor silex type coffee maker, and keurig's are also going out of favor. All in favor of pour-overs. Plus, MANY people prefer tea. Hard to heat and pour water from a sauce pan.- The bathroom cabinet in the kid's room is completely rusted out - kind of scary.
