Dad's Retreat/3 BR Island Home with Boat Docking

This three bedroom island home is located just off the harbor and within walking distance of island shops and restaurants. Dad's Retreat has two full baths, a queen in one bedroom, two twins in another, and king and a day bed in the master bedroom. Other amenities include central a/c, heat, TV, phone, stereo/CD player, washer/dryer, dishwasher, outside shower and gas grill. For outside enjoyment there is a back deck offering privacy, a front covered porch, and a screened porch. Docking for one boat is available upon request. This house sleeps up to 7 people.

The Feel of Old Ocracoke

We loved all the places to circle together or enjoy just being by yourself. The kitchen has everything you ever ask for. For folks like us who have been going to Ocracoke for years and years, this place will make you feel like that you are in the Ocracoke of days gone by. It’s an easy walk to town or to Blackbeards haunts. My only request for the hosts is that the gas grill really needed a good cleaning. We understood that it was the last weekend of the season; but it kept us from grilling out as we had planned. But the place was wonderful !!!

Annual surf fishing trip

This property was perfect for the guys annual surf fishing trip. It was spacious and convent. I particularly enjoyed the traditional beach cottage feel with a modern kitchen. The hosts are great and very responsive. I definitely recommend staying at on of their properties when you visit Ocracoke!

Dad's Retreat

Our stay at Dad's Retreat was relaxing and comfortable. The location is excellent, close to the Harbor and Lighthouse. My only minor complaint was that the website showed the property was available but then we found out it was booked.

Loved it!

Last week of August 2024, stayed at Dads Retreat! We loved the house and check in and out was very easy. We love coming to Ocracoke and would definitely stay at this property again. Very close to the shops and restaurants. We were able to dock our boat at the Inn. We also got our golf cart through the Ocracoke Harbor Inn. Very happy with this trip!!

Ocracoke vacation

We loved our stay at Dads Retreat. We had plenty of room. Location was perfect. We could get every where by bike or golf cart. The hurricane put a damper on our beach time. But that couldn’t be helped. We got to play in the water with our oldest granddaughter a few days. The beach was a short drive. I rode my bike. The beach was never too crowded. We enjoyed our trip and would definitely go back.

Welcome to paradise

Quaint, small home town feeling island. Great having a golf cart available. Can walk to many restaurants and shops. Beach was amazing. Would highly recommend a beach driving permit if you have 4wd

Visiting and Relaxing on all the Porches

Found the perfect place for friends to join my husband and I on my first trip to Ocracoke! Comfortable porches, comfortable surroundings and enough space to relax and be our home away from home when we were not out exploring. Good kitchen facilities, too. We appreciated the openness and spaciousness, very clean, but mainly we loved the porches and the quiet! Nice yard, great location. Watch out for mosquitoes, though- do not turn a porch light on if you can avoid it.

Perfect for family!

My family had a great time in Ocracoke and loved this property! It is right around the corner from the lighthouse. You can easily walk to shops and restaurants. We loved the screened-in porch. Hope to be back!

Well appointed and great location

We’ve been visiting Ocracoke for 10 years and stay at a different place each time. The house has a nice layout, and great outdoor spaces. You can walk to ice cream and several restaurants!

OBX Fabulous Vacation Get Away!!

This house was perfect for our group of 5 and had plenty of extra room! Very well appointed, updated, and beautifully decorated. Had a get together with our local Ococker friends over and used the grill. We were close to shops, dining, etc. within walking distance. Did rent a golf cart for one day and was fun to get around. We will definitely come back to this property!!! Had a spectacular time!!

Perfect place to stay

My family of 3 stayed at Dad’s Retreat for the Thanksgiving holiday. The house was very clean, spacious, fully stocked kitchen, in a great location. The pictures don’t do the place justice. Will definitely stay here again.

Listing doesn’t do it justice

Fabulous property. Exactly what we were looking for. My dad is an avid fisherman in his 80’s. In the fall he’s been fishing the Outer Banks since the 60’s. He can no longer camp on Cape Lookout as he’s done for years. So we brought him to Ocracoke instead and rented this cottage for him. It’s all one level and he could get up and down the front stairs easily. Clean and beautiful. We also greatly enjoyed the friendly cat colony that lives in the neighborhood. We hope to do it again with dad next year. Thank you for helping keep an old fisherman “living” his life.

Cozy and clean!

There is oodles of room and living space, with lots of decks and porches...sit and watch the world go by, or enjoy a glorious view of the lighthouse while sipping coffee. There are so many ways to relax and unwind...

This house offers so much...in addition to all the amazing amenities, it also offer a complimentary docking space at the OHI dock. Available upon request with advance reservation. And we have to mention the wonderful view of our lighthouse. It is North Carolina's oldest lighthouse in operation, (and the second oldest in the United States),and is certainly one of the most beloved. At just 65' ft. tall, it is by far the smallest lighthouse on the Outer Banks, but it still towers over the 4 square miles of Ocracoke Village
