Mountain View Chalet - Fantastic Views and Privacy

The Mountain View Chalet is a peaceful mountain cabin rental in the beautiful Rocky Mountains located about 45 minutes west of Boulder, Colorado, and just outside the town of Rollinsville. Enjoy hiking, biking and skiing on the numerous trails in the area. 4wd or Awd REQUIRED in "winter" (generally mid-October to mid-May). Please confirm you have 4wd or Awd for all booking requests during this time.

For the nature lover, there is world-class hiking, cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, back country alpine touring, snow-shoeing, climbing and fishing right out the front door. Or take a very short drive to the James Peak and Indian Peaks Wilderness Areas and experience beautiful alpine lakes, native wildflower meadows and magical subalpine forest. If you prefer a scenic drive, the Peak to Peak Highway is only two miles away and you can take a 10 minute drive to the funky town of Nederland with numerous good restaurants and unique gift shops. Or drive 45 minutes north, and visit Estes Park which is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. To the south are the towns of Black Hawk and Central City, known for casinos and the Central City Opera. The progressive town of Boulder is only a 40 minute drive to the east where you can visit the famous Peal Street Mall and the hand-painted Dushanbe Tea House. Finally, we are only 75 minutes from Denver International Airport.

This cozy, romantic cabin for two or a close-knit family of four lies at 9,000 ft in elevation and boasts amazing views of the Continental Divide, ample summer wildflowers, a gourmet kitchen, full bath, and wood and propane heat. The handcrafted interior of the cabin contains hardwood and travertine floors, natural aspen trim and railings, knotty cherry kitchen cabinets, stone countertops, and porcelain tile. Finally, the Chalet is "partially" off-grid and has full solar electricity. We also have high speed wireless internet rated at 5 mbps and a TV with DVD player.

Mountain View Chalet is located on 20 acres of private land and surrounded by national forest. Nearby towns include Rollinsville, about two miles away, and Nederland, about six miles away, and Black Hawk & Central City, about 14 miles away. You can enjoy beautiful walks in the pine forest right from the door step, or take a short drive to the James Peak and Indian Peaks Wilderness Areas to hike to alpine tundra, glacier fed lakes, and beautiful waterfalls. In winter, enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing right from the door or drive 15 minutes to Eldora Ski Resort for downhill skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboarding . The Chalet is a perfect place to relax in the peaceful solitude of the Rocky Mountains, escape the summer heat, or enjoy the winter snows.

To eliminate person-to-person contact our vacation rental is self-check-in and check-out and is totally private without shared amenities. We take the safety of our Guests very seriously. Beautiful mountain views

Great place for a remote getaway

Loved the cabin and the local trails. Very isolated and quiet. Stars were beautiful at night and saw lots of wildlife. We will be back one day! Thanks for allowing us to enjoy your lovely cabin.

Excellent views from cabin and property. Lots of woods to hike through, but active moose in the area with babies, so be sure to keep your distance. Fox were also spotted in the area, so be sure not to leave any food outside the cabin. Nice firepit, with lots of chopped wood, and wood for chopping, horse shoes, and hammock to hang in nearby trees with view of the mountains were great!

Amazing get away in the mountains away from neighbors & city life!

Great views along with peace and quiet as you’re out of the city and able to enjoy nature all while being close enough to town for things to do! Would definitely make the trip from Wisconsin again! Cabin is nice and spacious too!

Great little spot for a couple to get away. Enjoyed the hammock & horseshoe/checkers. Nice views. Probably too tight for four. Property was private and easy to find.

Perfect Getaway

We came to the area to get eloped. This area was a perfect spot right in between Boulder and Black Hawk. We enjoyed the cabin and the snow so much. Thank y’all for accommodating us so well and I enjoyed the helpful notes and tips all throughout the cabin. I would definitely recommend!

Mountain getaway

This property is beautiful, private, clean and has an amazing view! Nederland is a neat laid back town, drive in any direction and natural beauty abounds. This was a perfect place for my wife and I, it would also suffice for a close group of 4. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Remote Getaway

This cabin is a special place, clearly built with love and pride. The views, the stunning wildflowers, and the quiet were exceptional. The cabin is comfortable and well stocked. You need to be fit enough to either climb a ladder to the loft or wrangle a futon frame. I’m a baby boomer and managed both, but getting on the ladder to climb down might not be for other senior travelers. It’s nice to have a phone and internet service for emergencies, but the cabin is the perfect place to truly enjoy nature and take a break from the outside world. We had several problems during our stay unrelated to the cabin, and Jeff could not have been nicer or more accommodating! I highly recommend this cabin for those who enjoy the Colorado mountains and a peaceful retreat in nature.

Nice modern cabin in mountains

We loved the place. Amazing, very private location. Great for watching stars at night. Loft looked comfortable but we were afraid to use the ladder at night so we slept on downstairs futon. Road/driveway to the house is pretty bumpy even in summer. Only complaint is that instructions describe satellite TV for the house but that has been discontinued.

Heavenly place

The view here at this cabin is so beautiful, absolutely stunning overlook. The seclusion and peacefulness is rare. The owners are super helpful and the cabin itself is just right for two-three people. We loved every minute of our trip. Thank you Jeff and Rea!

Awesome cabin

Jeff and Reas place was well stocked with all the essentials needed. The location of the cabin is secluded but still close to nederland and Blackhawk. The property has awesome views and the inside of the cabin is super cute, would definitely stay here again if we’re ever in Colorado again!

Peaceful, private and comfy...

It was perfect for our escape from our day to day routine. This place forces you to lay back and slow down. It was easy to keep warm. Though it is very private and away from major roads, it has a couple of cute towns that offer great food and the essentials. We had complete privacy yet our hosts were always reachable with any questions we had. We took a fun bike ride through the dirt roads. We had delicious pizza and Thai in Nederland. They have a great grocery store and cute little shops to get you some souvenirs.

Magic

Two weeks of solitary meditation, Painting, drawing,writing, reading,playing guitar, writing songs, hiking under big blues skies with the snow capped continental divide as back drop. Unbelievable. So many things to be in gratitude for every day. The cabin is in true Henry Thoreau style of Simple living in natural surroundings. Well stocked, comfortable and all that is needed. Refreshing. It was like being in a perpetual surreal painting. Moment to moment capturing a different pallet of color that was on display depending on the sun’s position in the sky. Watching the Hummingbirds outside the front door swirling and dive bombing in delight all to my delight. My favorite experience after sitting down in the doorway on a cooler overcast first morning to be still for a time, I noticed a small store bought helium balloon with the words congratulations dancing on the horizon. Surely for a special new young graduate in this month of no formal gatherings . I captured this sentiment for myself and more than likely appreciated this offering more than the recipient for finally giving myself permission to take time to pull away from-the insane pace of my life. Other worldly. Coronavirus? What virus? The sunsets in the evening from 6 pm to 8 pm were breathtaking. Wonderful, helpful hosts. Altogether, an unforgettable experience. A piece of sanity and solitude will follow me home. I will be back again.

Winter Wonderland

We booked this place to get away from all the noise for Valentine's Day. What a great choice this turned out to be. The cabin is cozy and equipped with everything that's needed. The surrounding nature is amazing. Jeff is a very attentive host and the property feels private and secluded. Definitely planning on a return visit.
