Bienvenido a "Bear Necessities", nuestra casa en el lago de montaña, un verdadero paraíso en la tierra, escondido en las Grandes Montañas Humeantes en el lago privado más grande de Carolina del Norte.

Esta propiedad lujosa, espaciosa, limpia, totalmente remodelada y totalmente equipada tiene increíbles vistas al lago y a la montaña donde usted y su familia pueden crear recuerdos duraderos. We had such a great 3-week stay here! The house was clean and comfortable. Loved having coffee on the porch with the lake and mountain views and plenty of space for everyone to relax. The host was easy to work with and very responsive. Highly recommend — we’d definitely stay again!

Great family getaway!

My husband and I escaped the summer heat of Charleston for a few nights with our two kids, and we could not have picked a better spot. It was right on the lake, the views were beautiful, and the owners had plenty of activities to keep the kids busy! We definitely hope to come back!

Lakefront getaway

Our family had a wonderful time at Bear Necessities. The property is beautiful with a great dock and outdoor area. Location was perfect, close to everything. Owners were very friendly and easy to communicate with. They provided some excellent recommendations on hikes and restaurants.

Wonderful Week at Toxaway

Everything was as promised and more. We loved the location because we felt safer swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding without all the busy boat traffic on the bigger lake. Also there weren’t any bears in thee yard like there were at our last rental. There were no pictures of a dining room table on your website so the seating there was a nice surprise. Also a lovely location for our family portrait. Thank you Andi and Shannon!

Totally Amazing

What an amazing venue! Boat rental at the marina, Mountain bike riding nearby as well as canyoneering. The host was incredible with very prompt responses and always available. We were there for 5 days and enjoyed the house immensely. Very clean and shows as a model home. We will definitely be coming back!

This is a gem of a home and property on the perfect spot on the lake. You will never want to leave once you arrive. Open, spacious home with a fabulous kitchen and generously sized bedrooms and baths. The covered porch with a fireplace is the sweet spot of this home and the perfect place to hang out and enjoy the lake view. Thoughtfully landscaped yard and expansive lakeside patio and dock with easy access in and out of the lake. Paddle boards, life vests, plenty of tables, chairs and umbrellas to enjoy from sunrise until sunset. My family from ages 78 to 7 months loved this vacation. Rent a pontoon at the local marina and you are set. I have rented lakeside homes at every mountain lake in three states…this one wins the prize!

Fantastic Lake Getaway

The house was beyond expectations! We had our entire family (6 adults & 2 toddlers) staying for the week and had more than enough space. The floorpan worked well, as it was open and spacious. We were able to gate off the side living area for the toddlers which worked out perfectly. The kitchen was well equip with everything we could possibly need. The views from the main house to the lake were amazing and the outdoor space with fireplace was a great place to hang at night. Another great feature were the paddle boards, canoe and kayaks that were available to use on the newly completed dock! What a nice bonus to be able to use these during our stay. The location of the house was convenient to Cashiers if we needed to get groceries or a bite to eat. The owners were very nice and helpful providing us with suggestions on hikes, golf and other activities to do in the area. Looking forward to staying here again next summer.

Amazing vacation

If you are looking for a mountain/lake experience, look no further. This is a beautiful house on private Lake Toxaway. The house is wonderfully designed for the setting and the views are breathtaking. The dock area is very well designed to use the kayaks, canoe, and stand up paddleboards. There is a launch area making getting in and out easy. Large covered porch and plenty of eating spaces. The kitchen is first class with upgraded appliances. The owners were easy to work with. Hiking nearby is world class. We fished off the pond and rented a boat one day. Two small items. The grill is a camping grill that didn’t get above 300 degrees. Tough when grilling steak. Also, there is no TV service. Now, there is a good argument that you should disconnect all devices at the lake, but it is the beginning of football season in the south. Overall, would highly recommend and would like to rent again!

Also, thank you for the feedback about the grill. We’re sorry it didn’t get over 300 degrees. We’ve never had trouble cooking steaks on it in the past, but it sounds like it may have needed a cleaning. However, we will go ahead and purchase a new grill. As far as TV service, in addition to Netflix and the movies we currently have at the house, we will go ahead and get more channels. Perfect Lake Toxaway Home

My family of 4 loved our stay at this fabulous Lake Toxaway home! The house is beautiful and well-appointed with great furniture, comfortable beds, gourmet kitchen and laundry room. The kitchen has new and clean pots and pans, cutting boards, spices, a Vitamix, Ice Cream maker, you name it! However, our favorite part of the house is the outdoor space including the huge dock area and the outside porch off of the living/dining area. We spent every night making S'mores by the lake or relaxing by the fireplace on the upstairs porch. The house has plenty of relaxing outdoor furniture to enjoy. We also used all the lake toys including standup paddleboards and kayaks. The location of this house is great! You are close enough to Highway 64 that you can hop over to great restaurants or nearby attractions quickly, and the location on the lake is ideal because you can swim off the dock or paddleboard/kayak without boat traffic. We preferred this location on the lake to other houses situated elsewhere on Lake Toxaway. Finally, Andi was so easy to work with and make check-in and check-out a breeze. He also provided some great hiking and dining suggestions before the trip. We highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a Lake Toxaway vacation!

Lake Toxaway Vacation

This home is absolutely amazing! All of the features in the home are first class. The landscaping and lakefront amenities are perfect with unbeatable views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The owners are very responsive and went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was perfect! I would definitely vacation here again.

Absolutely spectacular Lake Toxaway stay!

This was one of the nicest VRBO lakefront rentals we have ever stayed at! A truly five star experience! We were so grateful that the wonderful family who owns this unique home have honored us by allowing us to stay. We loved the owner’s kind & gracious spirit - they made us feel so welcome. The home is radiant - full of light & sunny views glistening over the water. It has a wonderful lakeside sitting area (actually several sitting areas) which are top notch for family time & relaxing. We really enjoyed their lake views tremendously! We went Paddle boarding as soon as we got there & we even rented a boat from the Marina at the Greystone Inn to enjoy some water sport fun with our teens. It was a wonderful stay! We plan to book again & go back again soon!

Amazing way to experience Lake Toxaway!

Words can't describe what an absolutely wonderful oasis this property is! Andi and Shannon are delightful hosts. They treated us like family from our very first interaction. Such a breath of fresh air! They had great tips on places to take our kids, eat dinner, connected us with the local boat rental company (which we highly recommend doing!) & they were available via text or phone just as much as needed, but not overbearing whatsoever. This was our family's first visit to Lake Toxaway and we've already booked the house again for this summer! We can't wait!

Beautiful property, wonderful hosts

This property is spectacular. If you are looking for a place to entertain or cook a holiday meal, this would be perfect. I love to cook and the kitchen is fabulous. AGA stove, ice machine, 2 sinks, all the cookware you could need. The setting itself is magical. I wish we could have gone in the summer, but even a rainy day in March turned comforting watching movies with the rain pouring outside. There are at least 3 really good restaurants within 2 miles of the house, and the grocery in Cashiers is about 20 minutes and a pretty drive (though prepared for curvy roads!) The owners are extremely kind and attentive. I almost forgot the rain shower in the master bedroom. Pure heaven. My teenagers loved the canoe and kayaks and they are just as you see in the pictures. Best VRBO I have ever stayed in, hands down. I highly recommend this home.

Absolute Paradise

An absolutely stunning property with incredibly gracious owners who truly go above and beyond for guests. The pictures do not do this place justice. The majestic setting of Lake Toxaway induces such a peaceful and calming presence that you can almost feel the stress melting away. Without a doubt one of the most awe inspiring properties I’ve had the pleasure to reside in and I most assuredly will be back.

The setting is spectacular with gorgeous views of the lake and awesome boathouse and lakeside patio. House is nicely appointed and beds comfortable. Great Aga stove and well equipped kitchen. Strong WiFi. Marina is a short drive to rent a pontoon boat for sunset cruises or take out the kayak or canoe graciously provided for your use.. Owners are awesome! Great communication and really cared about making sure our stay was great. We will be back!
