The property is over 12 acres of secluded hill country beauty, with the buildings, decks, and outdoor living areas all arranged along the higher elevations to provide for the panoramic views. Enjoy leisurely walks along the Crushed granite walkways on the property.
The Main House of Sunset Ridge Escape is a Hill Country Masterpiece with Limestone accents and a metal roof. There are two large bedrooms up, sharing one full bath, with the master bedroom and bath downstairs. The house is set up to accommodate entertaining, with an open floor plan for the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The Living room has a wood burning fireplace with a limestone hearth. The dining room has a 8’ farm table that will seat 10 easily. There is a sun room on the back of the house, just perfect for your morning coffee.
The Casita (Little House )is just offset behind the main house and has a large Game room with pool table, wet bar, couch, chairs,TV with DVD, and stereo. It has large glass doors and windows to take advantage of the awesome view in front. There is a large master bedroom with a private bath with a large walk-in shower. There is a 2nd bedroom with large windows to enjoy the view. There is a full bath with a whirlpool tub, great for relaxing. There is a 40’ x 14’ rock patio out front, with a cover over the entire patio, and has ceiling fans for your comfort.
When reserving Sunset Ridge Escape, the main house and the casita are included in every booking.
The Hot Tub is large enough for 8 people and sits on a rock patio next to the fire pit.
We have a swimming pool with a sport pool ( 4' to 5.5' to 4' ) and a separate lounge pool ( 12' to 18' deep ). We also have a full outdoor kitchen with rock structure, stainless steel gas grill, sink, and refrigerator.
There is an elevated deck off of the front porch of the Casita. The elevated level allows for panoramic views of the valley and local 'mountains', while you enjoy a glass of wine or Tea, or morning coffee.
The Observation Deck is a separate deck set back in the middle of the many Oak and Cedar trees that cover the property. It is a large deck (over 200 sq ft) and rises 10’ above the rock patio below. This deck offers additional seclusion and another opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views of the Wimberley area. The deck above is sealed and provides a dry cover for the area below, which has tables, chairs, and a BBQ pit for more outdoor living areas.
The Gazebo is a covered patio in the back yard. There is a BBQ pit, small fire pit, ceiling fan, lights, chairs and table. All to enjoy a relaxed area to cook, or just sit, outdoors.
The Fire Pit area is a large rock patio next to the Casita and near the Observation Deck. There is a sunken fire pit with a raised rock wall, and there are comfortable chairs to allow your group to socialize, while they enjoy the warmth of the fire and the brilliance of the stars in the night sky. There is also a rock sidewalk leading to the Observation deck and driveway.
The Creek side Fire Pit is an inviting area under the shade of large Oak trees and next to a seasonal creek. Follow the crushed granite walkway from the house down to this inviting area with a fire pit. A great place to have a picnic or let the kids explore.

Phil and Peggy Collins bought this property in late 2007. We owned one other rental property on the river, but we really wanted to own a view property, and this property was an absolute perfect fit for what we were looking for. Peggy and I had a great time remodeling and decorating this property, and we made this nice so that we would enjoy it. The picture is of Peggy and I in Shanghia, taken in April 2009. Peggy and I really love the Flite Acres area of Wimberley and really enjoy being a part of the community. When we saw this house, and the property, and the VIEW, we fell in love with it. We did very little to the house, other than decorate, but we did a complete re-do when we put in the Casita with 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a gameroom, wet bar, and a huge covered rock patio with a great view of the valley. We also added the fire pit, hot tub, the elevated observation deck, swimming pool, 1500 square feet of rock patios, a lounge pool, landscaping, and a full outdoor kitchen. Besides that, we didn't do anything!!
You can see the guest comments and the write up on the house. One thing that does not come out very clear is the proximity to the Blanco River. It is a 3 minute walk from the front gate to public access to some of the best water that the Blanco has to offer. There is a small dam, so you can take your float and just lay back on one side, or go below the dam and let the kids play in the shallow water and have a great time. Our property offers great amenities, and a fabulous view, and a short walk gives you outstanding public access to the Blanco River.
Sixteen of us Houstonites journeyed up here to Wimberley to celebrate two of our dearest friends 30th birthday. Every one had a marvelous time and I think we grew even a little closer. One of the birthday girls baby was revealed that it was going to be another girl!

So many amenities to choose from. The pool and fire pit were perfect. Both houses were very spacious and comfortable for our group. The beds were just as comfortable. Overall, a very great experience. I would recommend this property to anyone.
We had 3 families with kids ranging from 8mo - 10 years old. The pool was deep enough to entertain the older kids and the beach area was great for the little ones (and mamas)! The kids loved see the deer and rabbits in the morning, swimming and exploring the trails around the house in the afternoon and were entertained by the pool table and fire pit in the evening. Overall, it was a fantastic rental for families- wish we could have stayed longer!
The photos just don't do this property justice! This home is absolutely stunning and has some of the best hill country views we had ever seen. The kitchen was well stocked and the new granite counter tops were a very nice surprise!
The linens and towels were good quality and everything was very clean and neat. I am not sure what the previous review is describing about full size beds...Our group was 5 couples and everyone had either a king or queen size bed. There was plenty of space for us all.
The exterior was very well maintained and our favorite spot was out by the swimming pool. They have an adorable cabana where we all hung out in the evenings while the guys BBQ'd. We are already planning our return!
The location of the property is great. It is close to the shops and restaurants in Wimberley and is high on a ridge with wonderful views of the sunset. The pool was a real bonus which we all enjoyed. However, both the main house and the casita would benefit greatly from a serious cleaning, including all of the utensils and pots/plans in the kitchen. Some items, I.e., the baking sheets, should be replaced as they are so covered with baked on grease that it is hard to believe anyone would use them. We were also surprised to discover that one of the beds in the casita had a full size mattress on a queen size frame. Overall, a deep cleaning and the replacement of basic household items would really enhance one's stay.
Highly recommend this property!! Our family of 9 - age range from 1 to 60 - spent Easter weekend here and LOVED IT! The combination of the main house and the casita were perfect for our group. The house is nicely furnished, the beds are comfortable and there is plenty to do on the property. Nice quiet porch to enjoy the view (morning and night), beautiful pool, multilevel decks to watch the sunset from, outdoor kitchen, hot tub, and outdoor fire pit, which was great because the evenings were cool and the nights were clear so the stars were amazingly bright and the s'mores were even better! The little ones with us enjoyed exploring the property and finding lots of 'treasures'. This place is very private, and you feel as though you are out in the country with beautiful views all the way around, yet we were 8-10 minutes from downtown Wimberley, shopping, restaurants, zip line and hiking trails. Our contact person, KC, was very helpful and quickly worked to accommodate and meet our needs. Overall outstanding experience and would definitely vacation here again!!
We had 11 girls for a getaway and really enjoyed this house! It was definitely spacious enough and we loved just cooking and hanging out with each other. The deer coming up to the house in the morning was really nice as well. Just a few things I would recommend: some of the instructions provided in the binder in the house and sent to me beforehand were not up to date and could stand to be tweaked. It said to put the trash in the bins next to the garage, but there wasn't a garage. Also, if we had known the ice maker didn't work we would have come prepared with ice to begin with. The website had specifically said that it worked, but the water is not actually connected. Also, whatever is being used to clean the floors is leaving a really gross film to it. We all had to keep our shoes on the entire time when walking on the tile because it was a little oily.
It really was a wonderful house though and we slept very comfortably in it. We also enjoyed walking around on the 12 acres of land in the morning. KC responded to my emails very quickly while I was there regarding my questions above. We would definitely come back!
We are 2 miles from Wimberley Square. Trades Day is a great outing. 3 minute walk to public access on the Blanco River with great water! This property is on 12 private acres, with a great pool area, and many guests never leave the property.
