As wonderful as advertised, and more!
The property is fantastic, as represented, and Costanza is a thoughtful and helpful host. We were also delighted when she asked her son to carry our heavy bags up two flights of stairs to the apartment!
The bed is comfortable, the bedroom quiet, kitchen works well for simple meals. Plenty of fridge space; four-burner stove; dishwasher. Good shower. Having a washing machine was a bonus!
We were so busy exploring (and going to school) we never had a fire in the fireplace, my only regret.
The location is terrific for walking to historic, religious, artistic, and commercial venues and there is something beautiful or breathtaking around nearly every corner.
Costanza went beyond the call of duty when we had to deal with a personal problem. She was there for us in every way. She is a generous and kind host.
I hope one day that we will return to lovely Siena. If so we will hope to stay with Costanza!
Thanks ! you are wonderful guests
I hope to meet you early...Marry Christmas to you and your family
Costanza Giorgio and Pepe!!!
We loved it... everything about it!
My wife and I had been traveling in Italy for a month and have been really fortunate to have booked ourselves in great apartments, but when we arrived at Dimora Piccolomini we knew we had found home. The building is 1000 years old, the apartment is huge and has everything you need, including a fantastic bed, good kitchen and nice sized tv. It’s got a great couch on front of a working fireplace that you are welcome to use (there is a pile of wood right outside the front door). It’s located on a great street that has several good restaurants, coffee shops, gelato shops and a cute grocery store that has everything you need. It’s only a 5 minute walk from Il Campo and 8 minutes to the Duomo but it’s far enough from the crowds and the noise that you can rest when you need to.
As good as the apartment is, the best part is the owner, Costanza, who lives right across the hall. Her family has been movers and shakers in Siena since the beginning. The Piccolomini family line includes Cardinals, Generals and two Popes. Costanza was born in the apartment, lived there all her life and is committed to making sure that her guests have a superior experience.
If you have the interest, see if Costanza, a great chef, has the time to hold a cooking class for you. My wife and I spent three hours learning how to prepare 8 dishes, from appetizers to dessert, and then enjoyed the feast we had prepared together. That afternoon, cooking with Costanza, was the highlight of our five week Italian adventure. If you want to feel like you are living the history, and have a friend in this magical city, this is your place. The only negative that I can think of is that we only stayed with her for four days.
Thanks for your lovely review!!!! and you are for us a wonderful guests ...I hope that you come again to me!!!!!

BEYOND OUR WILDEST EXPECTATIONS
If you are looking for a true Siena / Tuscany experience LOOK NO FURTHER. From a perfect location in Siena's ancient city to wonderful accommodations and an owner that goes out of her way to meet your needs and make you feel like family, this apartment was PERFECT. We spent 36 days with Costanza in a palace that has been in her family for hundreds of years. Everything you need to make this apartment your home is provided for you including very good secure WIFI. We spent many hours looking out the windows drinking great wine and watching the Siena lifestyle go by on the street below. Costanza's cooking class was excellent and we learned so much and the food WOW! Costanza provided great recommendations for enjoying Siena from the local markets to great out of the way restaurants and even local events happening in and around Siena. If you are driving and staying for more than 3 days the best parking is at the train station 2 euro per day and a 20 minute walk to the apartment or a 1.5 euro bus ride. You will very shortly learn the streets of Siena which you can walk anywhere in the City. Just outside the apartment door are several very good restaurants and bars, a market with great meats and cheeses and of course a Gelato stand. From the apartment your are 5 minutes from Piazza Il Campo and great shopping on Banchi Sopra and of course more great restaurants. This is an experience you cannot afford to miss if you are going to stay in Siena for a couple of days or longer .
Misrepresented, Very Disappointing
We’ve used VRBO, HomeAway, for 10 years, staying at 45-50 apartments, and we have a guest rating of 5 stars. This is the first time we have used such a rating. Positives are: good location, spacious, plenty of storage. That’s it. We needed air-conditioning, a lift, and a washer, knowing it would be hot, late July-early August. So we booked almost a year ahead to get these features for our 2 week stay. No lift, no AC. Owner showed us two fan units and insisted they were AC. Only after taking a cooking lesson in her apartment the next night did we Discover SHE had real AC. So the following night, we complained that the heat was intolerable; only then did she have her son bring over one of her real AC units. So every day, we had to disconnect and reconnect to lift and move huge, heavy piece from living area to bedroom to get any relief from the sweltering apt. Fireplace smelled, gas stove didn’t work, until we cleaned the greased over burners, and rooms were dark. Entire place needs top to bottom cleaning, floors especially, cupboard doors, table top! Bathroom is located at far rear of unit, through bedroom, up 6 stairs, down a hall, and then you arrive. Simply not up to the standards we have come to expect from your company. Lying about amenities and presenting a dirty old apartment is unacceptable. Owner offered to refund our money, but at this busy season with one day notice, where could we possibly go. So “we cleaned and managed”. We took many pictures of the condition of the apartment, if needed.
Dear David and Sharon,
I'm very sorry for your so aggressive review…
you are the FIRST that find so many horrible things in my apartment!
When you arrived for THE 3 days did'nt tell me anything..and when you ask for everything I provide!!!The lift isnt but the washer yes!!!! Gas stove works!!! And 6 stairs to the bathroom in a medieval home it's very normal ...I use always for my guests the portable air condiotioner...and when you ask I gave another one stronger...I offer to refund our money and you told meNO...I closed the fireplace for the Imaginary smell!!!!!!!!
fOR MY LUCK NOBODY BEFORE YOU WAS SO DISAPPOINTED!!! In effect it's impossible to please to everybody
I hope to find in the future guests more polite than you
Best regards Costanza
Thanks !! I hope to meet you again…..
ciao from me and my son Giorgio
Beautiful spacious apartment in historic Siena
We arrived in Siena after a short train ride...would recommend a taxi from the train station as the streets are uphill and cobbled. Costanza’s son met us upon arrival to show us the apartment.
We were absolutely wowed...very spacious living/kitchen area, huge bedroom. Very well stocked with anything you could want/need. No central AC but even in June the nights cooled down so that all you needed was open windows and the fan that was provided. We were very comfortable at all times during our stay.
Super close to Il Campo and Duomo. No need for taxi until we went back to train station.
Will absolutely stay here on our next trip to Siena!
The apartment is centrally located near the famous Piazza del Campo and the Cathedral located on a street well equipped with every comfort.
A short walk from the bus stop for Florence Milan Pisa Bologna Rome ....
10 minutes from the station and treni..La apartment owner lives in the same building and is available for any suggestion or request.
