Will Rent Again (But Bring Mosquito Spray)!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at this beach house summer of 2026. From other reviews we knew that a house had been built right in front of this one. Thankfully the lots on both sides of that house are still empty so you still get good views of the ocean. The house itself is super cute and clean. The outdoor showers were SO helpful! There's also a room full of beach supplies (some chairs, umbrellas, sandcastle building stuff, boogie boards, etc). Now the downside, there were no instructions on how to get to the beach (and no clear walkway). Finally we noticed a makeshift path had been trampled through the grass of the empty lot to the right. But as soon as we got into the tall grass, we were COVERED in mosquitos, seriously I've never had so many mosquitos all over me. So every time we wanted to go back and forth, we had to douse ourselves in mosquito spray (a few still kept landing on me so I covered myself with a towel). A heads-up about where the path was and that it's infested with mosquitos would have been nice.

Beautiful Location

We loved our stay!! A washer & dryer would have been nice to have, and the internet is not reliable, but these two things did not greatly impact our stay. It was still wonderful and we would certainly stay again!

Best Vacation Rental!

My family had the best time at this home. It was so cozy, clean, and had everything we needed. The beach was a 3 minute walk away, which was so helpful with a 2 year old and 5 year old. The beach area was private and clean as well. Definitely will be coming back!

Location was great . In no way does the front home block your view. House is set up nicely. Stickers in yard do need removing & maybe fix broken outside shower or close it up. Other than that it was perfect for our family. Loved it.

Barnacle Stay Experience

Although there is a home that was built in front of the barnacle, the location was great and is still beach side front. Enjoyed the stay and home. Some complaints: - For the price paid, i'd expect a washer and dryer - Very minimal hand soap (mainly was old containers with soap mixed with water) - The internet was not maintenance and the bill was past due and i did not have wifi (no service at the home at all) - no hot water for the down stairs showers - had two towels for the whole house A note from one of the vrbo reviews: The AC unit can go under 72 degrees! It was very cold and comfortable inside the barnacle. ALSO!! The property managers clutched it out for me and I would recommend renting via Wolverton management. They make life easy and get to business. 5/5 for them!!! Thank you again!

Overall a great beach house

Overall the Barnacle was a great place to stay! It does have a new beach house located directly in front of it but there is still a view of the beach from the porch (and inside the house) and below the house. It basically sits on the beach. The inside of the house is cozy. It's small but had plenty of room even for 8 people. The kitchen was well supplied with cookware (but bring your own cooking essentials like salt and oil). The bedroom with the queen was actually more like a king size bed and it was very soft. The loft had two comfortable twins with comfortable trundles. The two main issues we had with the house were that: 1. The air conditioning unit is SUPER loud and shakes the house when it's on and 2. The two twin beds downstairs are very hard and therefore very uncomfortable.

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We reserved and paid for a front row beach house. We like to sit on the porch to watch and listen to the waves. We like to wake up to the sound of the ocean. We were so excited! Weeks after we made and paid for our reservation, we were told that there was a lot that was just starting construction right in front of the house we had reserved, but that shouldn't obstruct the view. They have to start with the foundation and stilts before they really start building and framing. We were reassured that it was quiet and that that they weren't actively doing active construction. We tried looking for another property just in case they started working on it again, but all the front row houses were already taken by this point. When we arrived we found a nearly finished huge house completely blocking (75%) our view to the ocean. I talked to the new home's owner, he said they started construction 8 months ago. The property and property management company has been charging for and advertising this house deceitfully as a front row for 8 months! They did try to make small concessions by refunding us $67 on a 5 night stay. Only after I expressed frustration to the management company, did the homeowner say they would discount one night of our stay (which I never ended up actually getting). That doesn't make deceit and misrepresentation right or ok... FOR 8 MONTHS worth of guests!! We woke up to saws, nail guns and generators at 7am. Another thing that isn't disclosed is that this home is RIGHT on the main road that runs down the length of the island, so we also heard cars & loud music through the night, then paving and big construction vehicles from early morning through 5:30pm. I know they may not have been aware that the city was also going to lay asphalt on the driveway blocking us in. They also couldn't have known that there would be barking dogs next door either. I am still hoping to hear from Joel, the property manager to make things right. I'm happy to update this review then.

Great Family House on the Beach

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a great house right on the beach! Much better than the pictures on the listing. We had 8 people and were very comfortable. There is a 1/2 bath and 2 showers downstairs that are not mentioned in the listing and were a great help for 8 people! There are also toys, chairs and umbrellas in the storage room to use at the beach. The beach is a very short walk from the house. The only complaints are that the A/C cannot be turned below 72 and that made it pretty warm for sleeping. Also the chairs op the balcony are the same height as the railing, so it completely blocks your view of the water. I would recommend some bar height chairs so you can enjoy the view! Would absolutely stay here again.

This was a very quaint cabin. Very charming. It had all that we needed. We have stayed beachfront before and it’s the only way to go. It’s close to a restaurant and two conviene stores… if you forget anything(which you will). Downside, it is right on the road and the master is on that side, and no washer dryer( but one across the street). Bring earplugs. Wish I had. Overall, the stay was great. We were the first beach fun, surf fishing and town shopping. The road near my room didn’t effect that. We love Galveston on the beachfront.
