About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

The Spring House at Keener Spring sits on a bluff overlooking beautiful Black River in the Ozark Foothills. Keener Spring is one of the largest privately owned springs in the country emitting 27,800,000 gallons per day. The spring and the unique, water filled Keener Cave are the focal points of the 65 acre property. There are numerous places including our gravel bar within walking distance to BBQ, picnic, or just relax in the sunshine with your favorite beverage.

Should you tire of watching our resident wildlife or listening to the rush of the spring, a large deck awaits your morning coffee or afternoon happy hour. You will not get bored during your stay at Keener Spring, there is much to do.

Float trips from Markham Springs or Bradley Hammer can be arranged. Clearwater Lake and Lake Wappapello are nearby for additional water activities.

About Robin

We moved to Keener Springs in 2004 for the summer and loved it so much we sold our home in Poplar Bluff that Christmas! We have lived here ever since and opened to the public in 2010!

Robin purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Robin chose Missouri

This property has been in my husband's family since the 1970's and has been such an integral part of his upbringing. He camped here during the summer as a kid and worked here during the summers as he got older. We work here today as a family!

What makes this cottage unique

In the 1920's, 30's, & 40's Keener Springs was nationally known as a vacation resort where such named entertainers as Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey & Guy Lombardo appeared. In the 1950's and 60's the resort was a familyl favorite and would remind us today of the movie Dirty Dancing.

Over the years the cottages have been used by vacationers to enjoy the beautiful scenery, fresh air and pure water the Ozark Foothills has to offer!

Great weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent an October weekend in the Spring House and we were very happy with the accommodations. The views were spectacular and the fall foliage was perfect. If you're interested in hiking or biking, there are also a number of parks and trails located a short distance from Keener Spring. We had a very quiet, peaceful and relaxing weekend away. I highly recommend it!

My husband and I l stayed for our 10th Anniversary and it was everything we had hoped it would be. Loved the beautiful springhouse, so clean and home away from home. I cried when we left, but knowing we will be back seemed to make it easier. Place to have plenty of peace and quiet and when we wanted to go have fun did so by floating down river. Owners are so helpful and friendly. We ate at Coltons on the way down and back, which we love also. Everyone there and in nearby towns were so friendly. Can't remember(sorry)were we ate a wonderful breakfast in a very tiny town, but was GREAT!!!! Thanks to everyone, and we shall return!!!!!

Thank you Lee, Robin and little Miss Wren!! We so enjoyed our recent stay at the Spring House. We were sad to leave and look forward to visiting again soon.

Robin, from the minute we walked up to the Spring House, I was charmed by the homey touches . . . live greenery, the cozy swing - - perfect for relaxing! You blended the past and present seamlessly. I found myself going from room to room looking at the various snapshots of family and friends hanging along side the old photos and magazines articles from the early days of the resort. I read everything!! I had no idea Keener Spring had such history!!

The afternoons we spent by the river and next to the spring were so relaxing! And fun at the same time!! Norman Rockwell was how one of our friends described it. Flipping through the pictures we took of the kids piled up on the hammock, with their poles standing by the spring and getting ready to have a bonfire in the firepit down by the river, I'd say he was right!! Because before this vacation, I can't remember the last time my son had gone two days without his video game!! And he didn't miss it one bit!

Thank you for having us! We look forward to the next time!!

Bridget T.

p.s. Please add more photos of the grounds and the spring to your site!! Seeing is believing, and Keener Spring is special beyond words!!
