The smallholding of East Rose has various sized stone, cottages and is in a beautiful, near landscaped lakes over the cattle grids on the moor. Therefore, watch out for the cows and sheep particularly if you approach in the dark, when a torch in addition to the low pathway lighting.
Moor Cottage was around the back and down a couple of steps, simply furnished, as advertised, warm, lit and welcoming with home-made scones. It would benefit from some modernisation, but is aimed at fishermen and dog walkers so it’s appropriately priced. It was a shame the lovely fireplace had an electric fire, an open log fire would be a big plus, selling point here.
Walks around the grounds and lakes and over the moor are beautiful in any weather - even the pouring rain. As just a couple, we could imagine family fun with kids discovering all the wildlife. 30 mins walk away was the lovely local pub The Old Inn at Churchtown, you won’t be disappointed by its welcoming, roaring fire, great food & carvery and friendly staff and good CV 19 precautions.
We enjoyed our weekend getaway in Moor Cottage at East Rose.
