Great little cabin in the woods, GPS doesn't always get you to the right spot but not hard to find. Beautiful property on the river, great fishing and wildlife. Very rustic but everything you need and would stay again!
Everything about this cabin was wonderful for our family gathering. The location is central to everything we needed. The cabin was stocked with all the things that we needed. It’s charm was exactly what we had hoped for.
Had some friends join us on a Fall Weekend getaway. They loved the rustic and peacefulness of the cabin and were amazed at the location. Made some great memories and they are eager to come back again.

Very rustic, which we like. Some windows need to be opened, but were stuck. 90 degree heat. Otherwise everything was working, stove, microwave
Place was as described. Very convenient and well suited for a fishing weekend. Outdoor area and deck overlooking the river is a bonus. Look forward to coming back. Thanks for having us!
Wonderful stay. Was easy to get to, private and peaceful, relaxing stay. Beds were comfortable , cabin had everything we needed and more. Loved the screened in porch , the dock by the river , the fire pit and the beautiful surroundings.
The cabin was wonderfully decorated, so clean and comfortable. The gas fireplace was a bonus on the morning that got down to 49. Warm and cozy.
Will definitely be back!
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin in the woods. There was a large fire pit and we enjoyed the fire there several evenings. It was relaxing sitting on the screened in porch and hearing and watching the river below. The bed was very comfortable so we rested well. The evenings were cool so we enjoyed the gas fireplace also. Thank you for sharing this cabin and property with us.
This has been the location for my customer appreciation trip for the last few years. Everyone loves the peacefulness of the property and how it seems to transport you back in time. With it nestled in the woods and lazy stream right there. You feel like you’re 100 miles away from everything. Yet, everything you need is with in a minutes drive. I will continue staying here for many more years to come.
Really, the best part of the cabin is that beautiful back porch. You can sit there and eat all of your meals just listening to the birds sing, watching the fish jump out of the river, and feeling the breeze, completely protected from buzzing insects. We were there when it was 90°, but the cabin stayed only in the high 70s even with no air conditioning. The ceiling fans were helpful as well. Easy check in and out. You are in the woods at the cabin but still close to Baldwin. The north country hiking trail is clise by and was incredible, as was canoeing on the Baldwin River. We also went to Ludington and enjoyed Lake Michigan. It was a great trip!
The property was beautiful and we had enough room for six guys. But we did have a few problems. The dishwasher did not work and spewed water all over the place and we had a hard time getting the vac cleaner to work. It was also advertised as having a hot tub, but there was none. But otherwise we had a great time.

We just reviewed the listing and noticed this error. It has been fixed.
We did offer to send someone to fix the dishwasher. Rhonda declined to have them come into the cabin while they were out.
Regarding the vacuum, there is only 1 area rug to vacuum the rest of the cabin is hardwood floors, so we typically let the cleaning service handle that.
Nice, rustic cabin with a beautiful view of the river. Everything was clean and ready to go for our stay. I particularly liked the big screened porch. The listing indicated there was WiFi and I don’t think that is correct. Not a big deal to us, but it might be to others. After many vacation rentals, this was the first time I can recall seeing a listing of fines. In my opinion, those potential fines should be presented to people before agreeing to rent the property. The items aren’t overly burdensome and some are expected (taking sheets/towels). You do pay an excessive “cleaning fee” so a couple of the potential fines struck me as a bit odd. With all that said, we enjoyed our stay and were very happy to be there.

Not as advertised
This property was overtaken by large black ants and so many cobwebs. Floors had not been swept or mopped in months and I had to clean the oven before we could even use it. They only supplied two bath towels for the entire stay for two people. I contacted the property owner and she refunded my cleaning deposit, which was nice. However, you can't hike the property nor can you fish as there is a large tree at the end of stairwell to the creek. There is no A/C in the home and some windows didn't open and most of the others had ripped and torn screens. Overall if someone would give this place a little TLC it would be a super cute place to stay.

Cabin on the Baldwin River
The cabin has a musty/mold order. No smoke detectors. The dishwasher works fine, just be careful when opening the door. The dishwasher is not secured to the countertop and falls forward. The wooden kitchen countertops and wood cutting boards are a health risk. Who knows what bacteria is lurking inside the pours. The wall mounted can opener is vintage and a health risk. I bought a new opener and took it home with me. I hand washed all plates, utensils, pots and pans and drinking glasses and coffee cups prior to using them. Some of the drinking cups were not clean! Also, there is no venting in the kitchen when using the gas stove. The walls in some of the rooms are covered with dust. Not healthy to breathe. Outside there is a risk of tripping over the walkway edging. Overall the cabin needs some TLC.
For me, this property is like stepping back in time. Very sportsman themed. It’s just secluded enough but also it’s right in the middle of the mix of everything you need. Peaceful relaxing just what the doctor ordered.
Nice cabin but not really as good as the pictures. No heat in one of the bedrooms. Musty smell when you first walk in. Beware of all the penalties upon checking out. Lighting is very dim. You cannot possibly tie any flies without additional lights unless you’re in the bathroom..
Screened porch is great with a nice view of Baldwin River.
Need to bring your own cone filters for the coffee maker.
Convenient for the salmon run.
No wi-fi and phone coverage is iffy.
Great fish camp. I love the cabin decor. No internet is a bonus. Owners choice of DVDs is great - Predator, 3 Amigos, My Cousin Vinny, and vintage Chuck Norris- The Octagon.
Relatively isolated traditional fishing camp. Felt like your grandfather took his buddies there to fish, hunt, or perhaps enjoy a wee dram by the fire. The inside of the cabin can not be improved upon. I hope the exterior issues are addressed soon because this is a special place that deserves to be maintained and preserved.
Clean, quiet, and peaceful getaway in the woods, near the water
My husband and I were there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We really enjoyed our stay. It is just about 10 minutes away from the historic Idlewild, MI. The home is clean, quiet, and peaceful. And, check-in and check-out are contactless. As we pulled up to the property, I was satisfied to see that we were tucked away in a private area of the woods that only we had access to, but still close enough to neighborhoods so that we didn't feel dangerously alone. We needed a place that was accessible, so the fact that there were no stairs leading into the home was excellent. And, there was a walk-in shower, which was also wonderful. The walk-in closet in our bedroom provided a lot of storage for us to place our suitcases and shoes so that we had more walking space. I really wanted a place where I could prepare our meals. So, I love the fact that the kitchen had a gas stove, oven, full-sized refrigerator/freezer, and microwave. And, whether we chose to sit in the enclosed patio, or step outside on the patio, it was really nice to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, including the huge fish that swam in the water. We also had access to a fireplace and a fire pit that we chose not to use this time. But, I imagine that they are both beautiful when lit. I know that firepit will be wonderful for warmth on cool Baldwin nights, and roasting marshmallows. This serene escape was just the relaxing break we needed.
Loved the "up north" feel to the place. Open beamed ceiling with stone fireplace. Was perfect as to the type and style of a place I like to stay for our long fishing weekends.
Great, rustic cabin in the woods but close to town
We loved our stay at this cabin. It was close to hiking and riding trails, along with easy access to the river for floating and fishing. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and had everything we needed for cooking. Great grill set-up so we went to Sander's in Custer and got brats and thick chops. We will definitely try to stay here again.
