The house is down a long rural farm lane, must have been close to a kilometer long. We had difficulties on arrival as our car was so laden down, with the packed roof box and all that we were catching the grassy centre of the lane too much, so myself and the dogs and kids walked the rest. Was grand tho as we needed to stretch our legs at that stage.
The views at the house are just stunning!! I took so many photos of the beautiful mountains.
We were so delighted to to have been able to go on hols as a whole family too, us and our dogs, my parents and their dogs too! It's so hard to get a holiday house that allows more than two dogs and we were do thankful to have found this house.
The house was very well kitted out with lots of accessories needed. We did struggle with the oven as we didn't understand the symbols on it, we should have googled it, but we muddled thru.
There is a working farm shed right behind the house, so you have to supervise the dogs outside at all time, as they can get access to it.
The private beach is stoney at high tide, but there's a fab expanse of sand when the tide goes out, which I can imagine would be just perfect in warm weather. And I there is a round stone beach too, a couple of kilometres walk down the road from the end of the lane, called Ross beach, its on Google maps. There is a tiny parking area and if you walk all the way to the end of the grass track, there's a metal viewing bench and a bit of sand at low tide we were able to let the dogs run on as it was enclosed. People had arrived to go sea swimming the day we were there as the water was lovely calm and sheltered there.
Glassilaun beach and Omey Island beach are both decently close and are amazing big beaches for your afternoon walks, or your summer days out.
The shops are about 20 mins away. Letterfrack has really decent little supermarket, I'd say only a tiny bit smaller than the Supevalu in Clifden, and just as well stocked.
And of course Clifden has Lidl and Aldi too.
In Clifden is one of my favourite places in the whole of the West - Walshes Bakery!! Their coffee cream slices were so fresh and delicious and their bottom baked bread is to die for and I dream about it all year long!!
