About the property

Highly upgraded with huge, wrap around,700 sq ft lanai - W40790002-01

Oahu is called the 'Gathering Place' and is home of Waikiki, Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor. The windward side retains the subtle feeling of old Hawaii, a Hawaii before the multi-story hotels and condos of Waikiki and the urban traffic, hustle and bustle of Honolulu. It still has that wonderful sense of 'Aloha' that you are welcomed and a friend.

Pat's a Punalu'u is about 30 miles from Waikiki and the Honolulu International Airport. The condo sits on a private, reef-protected beach, which is great for kids. The water is about waist to chest deep along the beach and is excellent for snorkeling. There is also a fresh water swimming pool, outdoor shower and exercise room.

You are 45-minutes from the nightlife of Waikiki or snorkeling at Hunauma Bay.

Our one-bedroom 'end unit' can accommodate up to five guests with a king bed in the bedroom, a queen sofa sleeper and a roll away and/or crib by request. It has a full-size remodeled kitchen and a washer and dryer...though you will probably be 'living' in T-shirts, shorts and swimsuits. The condo has ceiling fans, cable TV, stereo and lots of books - including many guidebooks to Hawaii. We provide beach chairs, towels, a beach umbrella, snorkeling equipment, ice chest and other items for your trips to the beach. All you need is your sunscreen and swimsuits.

If it's winter, along the North Shore you'll be treated to 30 to 40-foot tall waves and some of the world's best surfers. You'll also find Waimea Bay where Captain Cook anchored and the beautiful Waimea Falls Park with its sacred sites, waterfall and wonderful hula dancers.

Great Place to Stay on the North Shore

  • 5 of 5

Planned to visit Oahu during Thanksgiving. Of course, I went back to the place I stayed before and had a great time with great accommodations. Secluded beach property that is quiet with a reef about 100 yards out that keeps the waves at bay and makes lagoon-like water for snorkeling and other water activities. Awesome sunrise views to the beach side of the condo and heavily vegetated mountains to the back side. Kitchen is updated and very comfortable. Extra large wrap around lanai for relaxing and enjoying the views Bedroom works well. Polynesians Cultural Center 10-15 minutes to the north. Giovanni's shrimp truck, Seven Bros, Ted's Bakery and Turtle Bay just a few more minutes to the north. Nice secure place to vacation. You can't go wrong staying here. Kathy is very easy to work with and goes out of her way to insure you have a great stay!

Perfect North Shore Condo

  • 5 of 5

This nice condo sits right on the beach on the North Shore. The lanai is huge and a great place to enjoy the sunrise and the sunset. The beach is never busy and we also enjoyed the onsite pool. The location is perfect. Far enough away from town where you can really relax and enjoy Oahu. This condo was clean and spacious. Would stay there again for sure.

This was the exactly what we had hoped for. The beach location is so beautiful and we loved being on the quiet side of the island. Kathy was great and her daughter that lives close by was very helpful with local information and guidance. We spent time at the North Shore and on the Honolulu side of the island but were always glad to go "home" to the quiet beach and condo. The corner unit was great for a breeze that kept us cool and comfortable. Great place. Would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous stay in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Mahalo nui loa, Kathy, for a fabulous stay in your condo. The condo was beautifully decorated and modern inside. All the amenities of home. The bed was extremely comfortable. I loved being in the corner unit with the largest lanai. The cross breezes were wonderful and kept the place cool.

I must admit; however, when we drove up, we were a little taken a back because the outside front of the building looked somewhat broken down and very old. I was somewhat embarrassed as I recommended this place to other family members who were also going to be staying there in other units at the same time. I was so pleasantly surprised to walk into the Kathy's beautiful condo which you would never expect looking from the outside of the building. Don't let the outside of the building fool you. Two other sets of our family booked two other units of Kathy's. Everyone was very pleased with their units. The only suggestion I would have is to supply rice cookers in each of the units. One of the units had one; however, our's did not. Other than that, everything that we needed was supplied. There were a lot of spices already there. I purchased a lot of spices before arriving to the condo not knowing what was already there. Many visitors donate what they don't use to the condo. There was sunscreen, aloe (for after sun), itch medicine, spices, etc. We left detergent for the washer and dryer sheets for the dryer along with more spices. I liked the fact that there was security at night in the parking lot watching over everyone's cars. Even though we never left anything of value in the car, it was nice to know there was security.

The property sits on a beautiful beach with reef protected waters. Even though up North Shore the waves were big and unswimmable, at Pat's at Punalu'u - the water was calm. We were there for a family reunion, and all family members thanked me for recommending these condos. Jay (Kathy's son) was fabulous and responded quickly when we needed light bulbs replaced. He was very accommodating and friendly. I made it a point to text him at the end of the trip to tell him to help himself to all our unopened canned and frozen food, and beverages for his family.

It was great having 3 sets of families staying in 3 of Kathy's condos. Worked out perfectly and everyone was happy. It was one of our best vacations that we have had in Hawai'i, and I've been to Hawai'i many times.

I would recommend Kathy's condos in a heartbeat.

Owner's Response: Many Mahalos for staying in our condo and being such great guests. I am happy that you enjoyed your stay with your extended family. I will make sure to pick up some rice cookers for all the units. I will be sure to let Jay know that he was appreciated. :) In the future we would love to welcome you back to our little piece of paradise once again.

Nice condo, nice view, but on a busy road

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in the condo at the end of July 2016. The condo was clean, well appointed and the kitchen was beautiful. The building itself is dated and definitely in need of some updates.

The condo sits on a very busy road and since there is no air conditioning you need to sleep with the windows open. The bedroom window faced the road and since it is a heavily travelled road it was very difficult to sleep.

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying in our condo. You are right. The building is old. The trade winds tend to keep our side very pleasant without AC most of the time, but they also cause problems with the salt in the air. Hopefully the view, which is one of the best anywhere, and the condo itself made up for the outside of the building. As for the traffic, the highway (actually just a road) does run along the side of the ocean and most accommodations on that side of the island have the same issue. There is a comfortable sofa sleeper where you can listen to the sounds of the ocean instead if the morning commute is too distracting. Again, thanks for staying in our condo. Hopefully your memories are filled with palm trees swaying in the breeze, the sound of the waves breaking in the distance and of course the "real" Aloha that is found on that part of the island :)

Just as perfect as I could have hoped for...

  • 5 of 5

I was traveling with my 17 month old so I wanted to find a place that was toddler friendly AND away from the big cities, tourists and crowds. This was such a perfect location for us, the unit was beautiful, with gorgeous panoramic views and a huge wrap around lanai that we ate most of our meals on and it provided a nice outdoor play space as an extension to the living room. One thing I will add for anyone traveling with small children who are testing out gravity, the lanai is enclosed so little one's cannot throw anything off of the lanai several stories down. There was no need for AC, the cross breeze was pleasant and cooled down the unit sufficiently and it was so quiet that most nights all I could hear was the wind blowing the palm trees outside. The complex is close to the road but I found that closing the bedroom window at night reduced any noise it caused. I also loved having all of the sand toys available for my daughter and other beach accessories so we didn't have to buy or bring our own. The kitchen also had the basic essentials we needed for cooking meals. Also, the beach is just steps away from the building with a lush green lawn full of picnic tables, lounge chairs and grills. There is a very small market just across the street (Kaya's) that you can find very basic items and buy a really wonderful meal (2 Bald Guys) or buy some fresh fruits or a smoothie from the fruit stand outside. Otherwise, a larger market is about 10 minutes away as are several really great kid friendly activities. I really hope we find ourselves in O'ahu in the future so we can stay here again.
