This beautifully renovated 1874 Colonial is located in historic Peninsula and offers the best of the past and the present. We are nestled deep in the heart of the scenic Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which means the serenity and grandeur of nature is right at your doorstep!
Upon arrival, open the french doors of "The Blue Hen” and walk into the double parlor of this charming retreat. Select one of the uniquely beautiful, specially designed bedrooms - each with their own private, modern bathrooms - for your stay. Utilize the full kitchen to prepare home cooked meals and enjoy them in the elegant dining room or out on the veranda shaded by wisteria flowers. Enjoy a picnic outside on the grounds or relax in one of the soft leather armchairs in the sitting room and play one of our board games with family and friends. Settle in for the evening and select a good book from the Inn’s collection, or surf the web or watch a little television.
You will find every room in The Blue Hen, including all four bathrooms and kitchen, impeccably clean and sanitary, professionally cleaned after every guest.
In the morning, stroll right down the sidewalk to downtown Peninsula and explore this quintessential “one stoplight town”. After you hike the trails, bike the towpath (bike rental right in town), or ski at Boston Mills to your hearts content, take in some live music at the intimate GAR music hall. In the morning, enjoy a tasty breakfast, lunch or dinner at Fisher’s Cafe, take an art class at the Peninsula Art Academy, check out the unique shops in town (including our fav the gourmet popcorn shop), and wrap up your day enjoying a craft beer and wings at the Winking Lizard.
WE’RE IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYTHING!!
Even more options await you a short drive or Uber away. Head west and within a 10 minute drive you will find a Buddhist, Sikh, and Hindu Temple. Visit all three to find inner peace and a spiritual calm to balm your hectic daily life. Stop at Country Made Ice Cream for the best ice cream anywhere, or take a quick dip in The Quarry, a unique, natural swimming hole right down the road from The Blue Hen.
Go east and in 10 minutes you will be in the town of Hudson, which has excellent renowned restaurants, a Heinens grocery store, and a wide variety of shops. You will find everything from women’s high fashion clothing to a charming old bookstore to a classic board games shop. You will also find a gastric pub and an exceptional wine cellar restaurant.
Drive north and in two miles you will be able to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and tubing at Boston Mills / Brandywine Ski Resort.
Head south and in 12 minutes you will find Hale Farm and Village, as well as Blossom Music Center where you can hear a variety of musical artists, including the world renowned Cleveland Orchestra. Thank you so much, Sandy! We’re so happy to hear that everything was wonderful during your spring getaway. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we’d love to welcome you back anytime!
Wonderful space for grandparents and two families of 4! Kids loved the side yard and platform in the yard for performances. Also close walking to coffee & wine shop as well as Classical Academy with a great playground.

We had a fantastic visit. This property was great for our multigenerational family. We took advantage of the large yard for the kids to play, the lovely dining room for family breakfasts. Great stay and wonderful to be able to comfortably stay in the same house!!
Friends weekend! We like to gather to get away and hike and check out breweries in the area. This was a great location to do just that! We plan to come back next year!

Regarding the beds, we do list all bed sizes clearly in the property description so guests can plan accordingly before booking. We appreciate your comments and hope you enjoyed your stay overall.
The Blue Hen Inn is a well cared-for and beautiful home. It is very clean and all four bedrooms have their own bathroom. The dining table is large and can accommodate at least 10 comfortably. It was perfect for our family. Although the main purpose of our stay was to visit Cleveland, we wished we had a few extra days to relax and enjoy this home and its amenities!!

We were looking for a property close to Kent State University to have a long week and visit with our son. Great house! Wonderful little downtown and the hosts were fantastic! We will definitely stay here again when we’re visiting up north.
Everything about this house is first rate. Hosts are great at communicating. The house is beautifully furnished and provides plenty of seating options for larger groups. The back porch is very comfortable, which we used every evening. We appreciated the excellent selection of K-Cups for the Keurig. The location is close to restaurants and convenient to the park. I highly recommend this house. Rent it and you'll be glad you did.
This was our first stay at a Vrbo, and we were very impressed by the property, the location, and the ease of the process. This was a lovely home with everything you could possibly need. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Best location if you’re visiting the cuyahoga Valley
Wonderful and comfortable home. Lots of space and a great yard for the kids. The location offered dining, hiking and some great antique and local artisan shopping. Hosts were quick to respond to questions too! Loved the cleanliness of our historic home in lovely Peninsula Ohio.
The house is wonderful and clean. There is plenty of room to relax and hang out together. The kitchen has everything needed for a stay. The furniture is nice and the location is perfect.
We would stay here again. The host responded to our questions.
The home met our needs for a family gathering. Each bedroom had a bathroom which was very helpful. Storage space was limited in several of the bathrooms and bedrooms (no closet or armoire). The setting was close to the activities that we wanted to do. The home was clean and furnished with many period pieces and features which gave it a comfortable and welcoming feel. The hosts were very resposive when we needed to reach out. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would consider the property again in the future for a similar family gathering.
