Wonderful beach getaway

We were two families visiting from the US. The property worked perfect for us. We spent all of our time at the pool and veranda. We saw tons of wildlife by the pool. The restaurants, market, and beach were all walkable and delightful. This place is a private slice of paradise. Would definitely book again.

Best-ever VBRO experience

This was the perfect location for our family reunion. Both the main house and guest house were lovely, comfortable, spacious, and well appointed. The pool and backyard setting was simply paradise. The location was ideal. We enjoyed our walks to the local restaurants. Playa Carrillo was just a five minute drive and the beach was kid friendly. Jackie, our host was very knowledgeable about the area, and answered all of our questions promptly. She was super accommodating. Myrtha the housekeeper was most amazing.We look forward to returning here on our next visit to Puerto Carrillo.

Beautiful place to stay

We enjoyed the beautiful pool area with the small water fall. The short walk to town was great for breakfast and dinner.Next to one of the best beaches in the world.

Awesome place!

We absolutely loved our time here! The home is beautiful and clean and Jackie was wonderful to deal with from start to finish. We spent two weeks traveling through the Nicoya Peninsula and this was by far our favorite home! We booked a fishing trip with Jackie‘s husband Rick and it was a big highlight of our trip, the kids caught four sailfish! The pool was great, the yard was well taken care of and clean, and the entire property was very secure. We would love to return and would definitely recommend renting this property. You won’t be disappointed!

Wonderful stay

My family, group of 5 stayed at Jackie's lovely house just up the hill from the gorgeous beach of Carillo. The house was perfect, with lots of room and excellent facilities. The pool is magnificent. Communication with Jackie was first class, with an answer to our queries within minutes. A top quality stay.

Family Oasis

Clean and spacious property, with an amazing pool and patio. Plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful butterfly garden, and daily visits from the iguana. Host was very helpful in arranging transportation, scheduling activities. and responsive to questions. I would recommend having a car. Walking to the beach is not safe or easy. This location is primarily for beach activities. HIghly recommend zipline experience.

Fantastic stay!

Incredible home with an incredible host! Beautiful surroundings, fantastic pool and a short walk to some of the best restaurants in the area. We saw howler monkeys, giant iguanas, beautiful birds all from the backyard. Jackie saw to all our needs. As the title says, it was a fantastic stay!

Great location and home -- even better than the photos!

This home is wonderful, with lots of room to spread out and beautiful outdoor spaces that look out onto a forested valley. Veranda is perfect for spying on birds, monkeys, and iguanas through binoculars. The location worked well. The 10-minute walk to the beach allowed adults to head over individually before the rest drove over with chairs/umbrella/cooler. Easy walk to a few restaurants. We had a good dinner at El Colibri, but Soda la Plaza was our favorite (my best meal in Costa Rica!). The beach was beautiful and uncrowded at the end of November. A fringe of palm trees provided relief from the sun for the local families and tourists hanging out. The road is close to the beach, but we didn’t hear or see it from the sand/water. (Serious speed bumps keep traffic slow and quiet.) As the description indicates, the bedrooms have AC, but the common areas don’t. Despite the hot and humid weather, fans and open windows/doors kept the common areas comfortable. And we frequently hopped into the beautiful pool. Host was very responsive before and during our visit. The housekeeper was knowledgeable and helpful, even though she and I didn’t speak a common language. She had done an excellent job of prepping the house, which was very clean. We’re glad we opted to have her cook us breakfast one morning. It was delicious and the outdoor setting near the pool was lovely. We’d stay here again in a minute!

Beautiful home esp. the outdoor paradise

The house is large and beautiful, especially the outdoor paradise. Great pool, lots of room to sit, outdoor bar and patio table, butterflies in the garden, convenient restroom to pool area. We had a delicious breakfast prepared on-site - highly recommend. Owner and maid/cook were lovely to deal with. Maid only speaks Spanish but we mostly got by with our basic fluency. Note that only the bedrooms are air conditioned. During our stay it was uncomfortably hot in the living space, despite open windows and one floor fan. We never got a cross breeze. Also tightly seal all food items or store them all in the fridge or the tiny tenacious ants will find it! (Costa Rican ants are impressive!) Also be aware that the town is quite small - that may be your thing, but fyi.

Beautiful pool and outdoor space

We were supposed to stay 2 nights, but didn’t realize how far down the coast the property was. (That was my error in booking) The house itself was fine. Clean, spacious and very pretty. Didn’t realize the 3 bedrooms were in a room with a locked door, although it was a nice safety feature. Had to ask for more towels and for beach chairs but they were brought to us very quickly and we appreciated the timely response. Ice maker and water dispenser on fridge was not working. We loved our day in Samara, but ultimately decided to leave early to head to Langosta.

Beautiful home and property, amazing hosts!

This is a beautiful property and fit our family of 8 perfectly. Myrtha made us breakfast and coffee every morning while accommodating our vegan diet. Our kids loved the plantains she cooked, made with love as she described. Jackie was an incredible host, making our stay as easy as possible by arranging zip lining and a boat trip to see dolphins. She also found a local vegan bakery and picked up a cake for us to celebrate my daughters 25th birthday during our stay. She went above and beyond our expectations! Can't wait to come back and stay here or at another one of her properties.

Great location and house for two families

We stayed for a week. The owner Jacqueline was was very responsive and checked in frequently throughout our stay. The housecleaner Myrta, was exceptional and very helpful. The houses are close to Carillo Beach. We walked to Playa Carillo one day, although the road is a bit busy for walking with small children, so we drove most days. The restaurants in the area are excellent, and it was a relaxing stay. The biggest disappointment was that the sloth tour wasn’t running, but days at the the pool and beach more than made up for it, as well as a boat ride to watch dolphins, swim, snorkel, and trawl for fish (sadly did not catch anything, but still fun).

Great family vacation spot!

Our family of six (parents and 4 adult children) had a wonderful time staying here. The home is spacious, clean and comfortable. Plenty of room for everyone. The pool is beautiful and was enjoyed by all. Monkeys and iguanas were frequent visitors! Working with Jackie was a breeze. From the moment I booked the house she was available and easy to communicate with - answering messages and offering suggestions on local experiences, restaurants, stores, and drive times to/from airport and other towns. Jackie checked on us throughout the visit to make sure we had all we needed. She helped arrange a private dinner in the house with a lovely man named Walter who served fresh mahimahi (caught by his son), shrimp, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Mornings started with hot coffee and a delicious breakfast prepared by Myrtha, who also kept the house spotless. Restaurants and local grocery stores are in walking distance. The local beach was beautiful and not crowded. We took surfing lessons in Samara and enjoyed a zip line adventure one day. Thank you Jackie for sharing your home with us so we could experience your beautiful country! We all had a great first trip to Costa Rica and hope to return!

Wonderful week with the family!

Beautiful home and guest house with even more beautiful pool and grounds! We had a wonderful time ... thanks to Jackie who helped arrange some activities and reservations for us. Playa Carrillo is a gorgeous beach a short walk away. Myrtha makes excellent breakfasts and took good care of the house and us. All in all we had a terrific vacation!

Tropical Paradise

Costa Rican Oasis

Great property with wonderful pool and grounds. Great compound for interaction of multiple guests that still are able to maintain their individual private areas due to the large size of the property. Wonderfully prepared full Costa Rican breakfasts each day. Friendly and efficient housekeeper kept the house in order. The property did have multiple maintenance issues that need to be corrected. In short, the property is great and would be an easy five star property with a little tender loving care.

Wonderful spot for a family vacation

We loved this house. The house itself has lots of character, is very comfortable and a lovely outdoor sitting area. The pool is beautiful and the setting amongst the trees is lovely, we saw some amazing birds, including toucans! Easy walk to the shops and a few local restaurants. It's a bit of a walk to the beach as there is a hill on the way back but it's a 1 min drive and the beach is absolutely divine, it was our favourite beach in Costa Rica. Never crowded, very safe for swimming and a nice family vibe on the beach. If you want more restaurants or shopping, Samara is less than 15 mins down the road. There's also some more secluded beaches within 30/40mins of the house that are not hard to reach even by two wheel drive car. We wished we had more time to explore. Jackie was really great in her communication with us and her tips on driving to the house helped a lot as Google maps is not overly accurate in Costa Rica (loves to take you down a rough dirt road). She also helped us organise an airport transfer for my parents which was great. Mrytha, the housekeeper and breakfast chef was lovely and served up delicious breakfast each day and kept the house spotless. We wished we never had to leave and really hope that we'll be back to this wonderful spot.

More than we could have dreamed of! An unbelievable expereince!

The home and property is breathtaking -- we watched monkeys play in the trees while we were eating. Beach is a 10 minute walk - and the beach was quiet and beautiful. The host was so helpful, attentive and so very responsive. Myrtha's breakfast was delicious and she was so wonderful. We WILL be back!

Family Xmas vacation

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Oasis (8 adults). Jackie organized our transportation to and from the airport. Breakfast in the mornings was delicious and Martha was flexible with what time we wanted to eat. The restaurants in the area were soooo good that we didn’t even want to go to Samara for dinners like we originally thought we would. There were many minor maintenance issues such as broken screens on upper windows, the safe was broken and knives were very dull but this didn’t really affect our stay. The pool was wonderful and helped us cool off when we got too warm. There was a variety of wildlife that came by to visit including monkeys, raccoons, iguanas and a variety of birds. There were many furnished areas to sit outside and the outdoor furniture was of excellent quality. They guys went fishing with Jackie’s husband Rick and also had a wonderful experience, they even caught a marlin! All the tours we booked were willing to pick us up at the Villa. Overall we had a wonderful stay at Villa Oasis. Jackie was very helpful with information and bookings. She has many local connections and we were very comfortable at her home.

A lovely experience

Jacqueline was an incredibly supportive host, setting up tours with really wonderful guides and last minute trips to and from the airport. Hi my friends felt incredibly supported the entire way through the trip. Jermaine great recommendations for bringing in meals, including special meal by Chef Yannii and delicious fresh fish and lobster tacos by Walter. Myrta was a super attentive support with huge, delicious breakfasts and the house was always clean and well kept. The Spanish speakers among us really loved being able to talk and ask questions and she always had the coffee strong and ready when we woke up. The house was perfect for our group setup -- which was a number of single and couple friends with one family where people could have their own private space but easily come together for meals and talking time around the pool, on the porch, and in the living room. And the location was great! Super close to Playa Carrillo, a really short drive to Playa Samara and easy walking access to several restaurants/sodas and a grocery store. We loved our experience and we would go again and stay there again in a heartbeat.

Rick and I built this property in the year 2000 to be able to raise our kids in a safe and fun environment while they were going to school. In 2008 we built another home in Carrillo not far from Villa Oasis and decided to turn Villa Oasis into a full time rental. We named it Oasis as a great representation of how peaceful the property is.
We do sports, mainly mountain biking, Rick surfs and mountain bikes, we love hiking, traveling and I play my guitar in my daily life.
I have been in the rental business since I was in my early twenties and I have a passion for hospitality. I truly enjoy knowing that you are having a memorable vacation.
I am a Costa Rican, I was born in San Jose in 1974. My mom traveled there from the Samara area so I could be born in a hospital, we were raised here in Samara, my mother and father bought another land in Samara in the early 90's and I also manage their rentals homes.
In the year 2022 Rick and I built another apartment in Carrillo for couples. I enjoy giving this hospitality service to our clientele from ALL over the world.
In this rental we get a lot of multiple families with kids. It is delightful for me to know that they are having a great time.
We also get groups with just couples (ALL adults) looking for beach and swimming pool relaxation.
We have made so many friends along the years that we have been hosting. We truly love our country and we like to provide our guests with that essence of the Pura Vida life style

Carrillo is a small community with great restaurants and a couple of stores and it is less than 10 minutes by car from Samara Beach. This beach was awarded the 5 star ecological blue flag, only a total of 5 beaches qualified in the whole country for the top rating with 5 stars they went though a program of qualifying great ocean water and potable water plus cleanliness of the town and efficient recycling programs in the community.
The beach is ideal for swimming and absolutely beautiful surrounded with palm trees and lots of shade throughout the whole day.
Most of the homes around Villa Oasis are residential.
From our location you can walk to 4 amazing restaurants within 2 to 4 blocks away.
There are also a couple of tour companies in town to help you arrange your activities. Water activities are the highlights of our town. Anything from hanging at the beach, swimming, going for a dolphin and whale tour, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling or taking an adventure to the jungle by ATV to swim in a waterfall.
Everyone is friendly in our community and happy to provide great service for people visiting the area. Samara offers lots of restaurants in front of the water and lots of souvenir shops.
Carrillo also offers a Gym with instructor, a horse back riding tour guide and two grocery stores where you can find absolutely everything you may need on vacation.
Playas del Sur and Roble that also belong to our town offer a paradisiac experience with a small waterfall flowing right into the sand and tide pools.

One of the highlights of Carrillo is walking the beach which is 2 kilometers long or 4 kilometers round trip. The walk is easy and you will see lots of species of birds and so much beauty. A lot of people like to do this early in the mornings to see the sunrises or some may prefer to go at sunset time. If you feel adventurous you can walk all around the Punta Indio rock at the North side of the beach.

Our rental property is VERY peaceful and walking distance to restaurants and stores and centrally located but still away from all the noises of a bigger town like Samara.
You will find nature, lots of beauty and relaxation here. If you feel like being adventures you will find a lot of activities to do or just sit back and enjoy some quiet time admiring the nature around our property.
The beach is located just 4 blocks away.
