Breathtaking ocean view Villa, surrounded by peace and nature!
This stunning Mexican-style villa is located 230 mts above sea level, providing you with a refreshing breeze, a breathtaking 180° view of the ocean and mountains, stunning sunsets, surrounded by nothing more than nature, trees, monkeys and peace.
The perfect jungle paradise to relax and charge batteries away from everything, but yet just 1.5 Km away from Playa Carrillo, one of the most beautiful white sand beaches of Costa Rica. By car this would mean 3 min to Playa Carrillo and about 10 min to Playa Samara.
Both towns have everything you need for grocery shopping and leisure as restaurants, bars and entertainment, tours, horseback riding, rental of snorkeling equipment, kayak, etc.
Now also with 100MB fiber opric internet to be connected at all times.
For your comfort, the villa has 3 air conditioned bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms + an external shower.
Master suit with king size bed and direct access to the terrace and pool area and a private bathroom also with access to the terrace and pool area.
2 large secondary bedrooms, one equipped with a king size bed and the other with three single beds. A extra-large baby-crib is also available if needed. Both share the second bathroom also with access to the terrace and pool area.
The villa is also equipped with a private 80m2 pool where you can enjoy family and friends time.
One of the unique spaces of this property is the “mirador”, a second floor lookout where you can enjoy a nice meal, reading a book, watch an ocean sunset, birds or just relax.
A large covered terrace features different dining areas to have a meal, relax or watch any pool activity.
The villa is equipped with a large indoor dining area, a large living room, a separate games room and 58' smart television in the living room. Fully equipped kitchen, laundry area with washer and drier (if required).
The villa connects to a small house for service staff, that clean up the house, make the bedrooms, change linens once a week, and clean the kitchen and dishes and maintain the surrounding gardens. Security is also provided.
Carrillo Town: small fishing village with a natural harbor. Nice restaurants for every taste and shopping opportunities for all basic food, fresh-caught fish and lobster according to the season. Samara Town: Small town with several shopping venues, restaurants and various entertainment options.
Recommendation: We recommend due to many gravel roads (if you want to drive around and go to nearby beaches) to rent a 4x4 wheel drive vehicle. This also gives you the opportunity to explore the next beaches and the country. Nevertheless, a sedan will also be sufficient, as the reads are in quite good shape.

Such a great place to spend 10 days as a family. If you’re looking for an outdoor vibe with some of the best sunsets imaginable, where you can lounge by the pool while watching the visiting monkeys, iguanas, and maybe some macaws, this is the place for you. Ed as a host was easily reachable, and provided a bunch of great local suggestions from fishing to ATVs, local restaurants, and a bunch of other ways to spend our time. The on-side caretakers made sure the property was clean, and that we were well taken care of. In terms of the location, it suited us - a 3 minute drive down to the beach, and under 15 minutes to Samara.
A fantastic vacation home for a multi-generation family that likes the option to self cater. The patio has stunning views and outdoor living areas. The house is well equipped with BBQ and beach gear. The caretaker staff are super attentive and nearby to help with any questions you might have about the home or area. The host is super helpful and very communicative. If you love living outdoors with inside comfort and a large group, this is an excellent choice! We’ll definitely be back! 10.
This is our second stay at this property and we still love it. The view is amazing, we felt safe, and so convenient to the beach and Samara. We loved having a pool and the onsite caretakers. Will stay here again!
The pictures don't do this place justice. It is beyond gorgeous. My wife and I were extremely happy here. The view is to die for, the house is massive and the beds are comfortable. Thank you so much for having us!
This is our second time coming to the villa and we still like it very much. Outstanding views and a perfect location to a stunning beach below. It was my husband, myself and my mother-in-law who stayed in March. Hopefully, I can come back again next year.
We had a wonderful stay in Puerto Carillo! This property has a wonderful view and we definitely appreciated the air conditioning in the bedrooms. We stayed for a month and could have stayed longer. The onsite caretakers made all the difference in our stay - kept the pool clean daily (no small feat with all of the trees and it required cleaning often) and kept the house tidy. My kids loved the howler monkeys and being able to run around.
Great Villa with wonderful views of Samara and Carrillo beaches
The property had everything we needed- nice pool which was kept clean, 3 bedrooms with AC , kitchen, living area. Lots of towels and good poolside lounges. There were beach chairs to take with you to the beaches. The location was just a few minutes drive to Carrillo beach. The housekeeping folks were wonderful. The bathrooms were very functional but a bit dated. You should have a 4 wheel drive since the road up is a bit steep but we find a 4 wheel drive the best option in any case for Costa Rica if you plan to explore the area.
Large house with great air conditioning in bedrooms. The pool was fantastic and the view was breathtaking. Juan Carlos and Jaqueline were welcoming and great. It’s Costa Rica so there’s the usual bugs but the geckos were helpful. 😊

Jason, thanks for your feedback.
I am very happy to hear you had a good time with your family.
The house is in the middle of nature, bugs are part of it. :-( Not much to do, and also depends very much on the time of the year. That is why we have screened windows at the whole house.
Hope to have you back at the house in the future!!
Views are gorgeous. Road was under construction however so had 15 minutes wait every time we left the property or returned. Required an SUV on road to house. House is tired looking as compared to the pictures on VRBO. On site manager did not speak any English so we struggled to even find WiFi connection. Once we got settled in all was fine.

I am very sorry the road was under construction during your stay. Nevertheless this is something totally out of my control.
We have always recommended an SUV, also for touristing around the area. In Costa Rica many rural roads are still gravel and on shaky state.
On site we have maintenance staff (not manager) that does not speak English, but I am always available either trough the App or WhatsApp on my personal phone if you need assistance.
In the house rules/contract that clients receive when renting, the Wi-Fi password is written down.
I am sorry but I do not understand what tired looking means. We are always attentive to listening to recomendations on what to improve so customers have a pleasant time at the house.
We loved our time in Costa Rica. This home is so fun. The pool was our favorite. Plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed the air conditioning in the bedrooms. The caretakers were so nice but if you don't know Spanish, it would be harder to communicate with them. The wifi isn't as reliable but great if you are closer to the living room. We did not find the beds very comfortable and we were not ready for the inspects around the home and sometimes inside but that's what you get in the tropical forest. The beach is close but you definitely need a car.
This property had 180 degree views with its own private garden and pool. The house itself is beautiful with an interior design that compliments the surroundings and an artistic appeal. The outdoor living space is wonderful and we had all our meals outside. I absolutely loved this place and I will return.
(Note: the only negative is the hardness of the mattress and the pillows. They need to be replaced.)
We were 6 people in 3 generations and this was the perfect home base. The house is extremely well laid out for a group. The raised deck is the perfect spot for morning coffee overlooking the twin bays of Carrillo and Samara. The house is solidly built so early risers like myself can slip out without waking others. The pool and trampoline kept the kids busy when they weren't hunting for geckos and bugs both beautiful and creepy.
An added bonus were Benicio and his wife who kept the property, the pool and even our bedrooms and kitchen ship shape. It was resort level service and unexpected.
A really lovely place to base you exploration of the Nicoya peninsula.

Thank you Vicky for your kind words.
I am so glad you and your family had a great time in Costa Rica and could enjoy.
You are welcome to come back any time you like!! Costa Rica offers many beatifull places to explore!!
Wonderful location with outstanding views of Carrillo and Samara Bays with lush flowering vegetation surrounding the house. Great warm pool with lots of shady spots or full sun all day long. The raised covered porch was exposed to a little more breeze during the heat of the day. The caretakers Vinicio and Hannia were sweet and tried hard to help in any way. Although their English and our Spanish was very limited we managed to make it work. Their two small dogs and one medium dog were friendly and fun but not bothersome. The house is older and the kitchen is somewhat "tired", but has everything you might need.
We enjoyed the spaciousness of the house, the comfortable beds, and the well-tended grounds that attracted birds and butterflies. The bedroom air conditioning, used at night, was reliable and powerful. We appreciated having the friendly staff promptly take care of the kitchen cleanup. While the refrigerator (with a great ice maker!), stove, blender, microwave and coffee maker were reliable and good quality, a new washing machine is definitely needed. Drying clothes on the line outdoors was not a problem. Finally, we will never forget the beautiful sunsets and the tremendous views from the house overlook. Thank you for a great experience!

Disappointing
The property is very old and needs a lot of repairs. The views were fabulous and we enjoyed the pool, but it needs repair also. The young caretaker does his best but everything needs upgrading. Pillows are dreadful. The worst thing is the road which is a continual dust storm. If you have lung issues avoid this rental.
I am from the US and my wife is originally from San Jose so this was a great house and location to re-unite with the family. My nephew, his wife and the boys really enjoyed the pool and my wife was very happy to spend time with the family. It was my brother and sister-in-law's first trip to Costa Rica, and they had a great time in the Villa, at the beach and exploring the Puerto Carrillo area. Vinicio and Hannia were wonderful hosts, and the 3 friendly dogs were a hit with the kids! As the issues with the dated kitchen and bathroom fixtures, insects and nighttime sounds of the local animals have been covered in other reviews, I will not go into detail here. You are in the middle of the Jungle and are surrounded by wildlife, the geckos, frogs, birds and monkeys are all part of the experience and the charm. This house seemed to be purpose built for family vacations and the spectacular views of Puerto Carrillo and Samara were an added bonus that we all enjoyed.
We all agreed that we would like to come back next year and spend more time in this beautiful Villa!
The spot is breathtaking as one can see in the photos. You are surrounded by jungle on all sides but just below the house as the building sits up on a ridge. We were hoping to have some monkeys come by but because you are up quite a ways up on the mountain they tend to stay lower but you can still hear them. Our caretaker, Sol, was fantastic. She with her husband live in a small apartment on property but you rarely see them unless you need them. Sol was nice enough to get us some fresh fish from a fisherman which we cooked up on the grill and they were delicious! She does not speak english but my son is fluent in Spanish so that really helped. The house is big and spacious. The bathrooms and kitchen are a bit dated which is to be expected as I think it may have been one of the earlier properties to be built way up there. However that is a minimal issue with such a great, private spot. The beach is a short 5 minute drive with easy parking and the larger town of Samara is about 15 minutes. The town of Carrillo is quaint with a few restaurants and small markets. Pure Vida!

Renters beware
This property doesn't meet expectations. It's 2 stars at best. VRBO is not using the fee it takes to audit the properties it lists effectively. This property is insect infested, under a constant dust cloud from the dirt road which it sits next to. The flush toilets can't accommodate soiled toilet paper. The house keeping service is not as advertised. The only things this property has going for it are the sunset views, pool and grounds keeper. The young lad did what he could to make up for the short comings of the property. Won't be staying at this property again.

The house is located next to a gravel road, and depending on the time of the year (rainy season or dry season) and direction of the wind more or less dust will come to towards the property. I cannot do anything about this. :-(
This is why we kindly ask to maintain the windows towards the road closed. Every day we clean floors and wipe dust from furnatute but it also enters daily again.
I am very sorry this was perceived as poor cleaning service, but still have advised the caretakers to improve and maintain cleaner daily.
In Costa Rica you do not flush toilet papers. You throw them into the trash can and these are cleaned daily as well.
Regarding insects, the complete house has screns to avoid insects from entering. We fumigate regularly to avoid insects in the house but it is important to remember that we are in the tropics and the house is surrounded by nature, so insects will be a part of the surroundings and depending on the time of the year more or less insects can be found. Sometimes even spiders, scorpions, scarab, dragonfly, mosquitoes, ants, walkingsticks, butterflies, bees, flies, among others will be part of the surroundings.
I wish we could have stayed longer.... perfect for working vacations!
This place is incredible, especially if you're a working adult!
I've been to Costa Rica many, many times in the past, and this place was (by far) the best place I've stayed.
For working remotely, Casa Aguila has fantastic internet. (We also gifted a Chromecast for future visitors - we were able to enjoy some evening premium TV over the fibre connection!)
The location is remote, but with very convenient access to many beaches. If you can afford it, splurge on ATVs - it'll only add to the fun.
Facing west, you'll see amazing sunsets... and located on a cliff edge... the views were INCREDIBLE.
The indoor showers are spacious and have warm water!
The kitchen features a new fridge with ice maker. We cooked almost every meal there - everything we needed in utensils were available.
And finally, the pool is probably my favourite feature. It's about 40ft? We were able to swim laps, and dive. It's deep, well maintained and refreshing. Bring/buy your own floating devices if you feel like lounging in it though.
Thank you so much to Juan Carlos and his partner for keeping the place in tip top condition and Marion for sharing this space and always being available to offer quick advice and assistance. I hope to be back soon!

Hello Sergio,
I am greatfull for your kind words.
I am so glad you had a wonderfull time and could mix up pleasure and relaxation with working all in one.
Thank you for your gift! :-) Future renters will enjoy.
I will get some floating devises for the pool. Had not thought about that detail. Thank you for pointing it out.
You are more than welcome to come back any time. See you soon!
This property sits about 700 feet above sea level from Playa Carillo, giving it majestic views of both that and Samara beaches. We spent each morning with coffee on their raised deck and enjoyed the ambiance. The outdoor space here really steals the show with the huge pool, raised deck and of course the views.
The home is exactly what you see in the pictures. We all slept well at night and Marion was quick to assist when we had a minor issue with the bedding. It is an older house with a few quirks, but everything you need to operate worked. The onsite caretakers were incredible, and kept the grounds immaculate and the interior cleaned up every day. We didn't realize how great this would be until we came back to a perfectly clean kitchen.
This was our second visit to the area and the location was a bit further than I expected, but within easy driving range of anything you could want. We found that it was about 10 minutes from the beach at Samara to Playa Carrillo, then another 3-4 minutes up a fairly steep hill to the property. Our trip was in rainy season, and we saw some heavy rains, but the roads are in good condition so we never had any issues.
We ate dinner twice in Carrillo and the rest of the time in Samara, and prepared one meal at the house. There are plenty of dishes and utensils, and the grill seemed new.
I think for the price this is a great home base for the area, and I would book it again. If you have any questions feel free to DM me.

We just loved our visit at this wonderful property. The house was lovely and the view was so fantastic ! The pool was great and all the different places to sit gave you so many options. The owner was very good answering our questions ahead of time and the couple living there were very helpful. While the kitchen could use an update it didn’t detract from our enjoyment and we highly recommend this house. The view will be with us forever in our memories. Oh, the howler monkeys in the driveway area were unbelievable and one of the many highlights of our trip!
