A great way to "get away from it all" in Charleston. Enjoy this spacious 1064 square foot cottage located in a beautifully landscaped private garden setting.

Beautifully furnished, always spotlessly clean with a well-furnished full kitchen...and totally away from the crowds. The cottage is a free-standing self-contained private accommodation in a beautiful garden setting with off street parking.

Only four miles from the Historic District the Cottage is close to Middleton and Magnolia Gardens, Drayton Hall, Charles Towne Landing, McLeod Plantation, the Intracoastal Waterway and 20 minutes from Folly Beach. The ten mile long West Ashley Greenway is just two blocks away. It's great for walking and biking. Our own private garden with koi pond and waterfall is also a nice place to unwind.

Getting out of the downtown crowd allows our guests to relax and enjoy a 1064 square foot cottage with TWO Queen size beds in ONE 25' X 12' bedroom and a large living area. The property has an awesome kitchen with marble countertops and a large living area where guests can share a meal and some quality time together.

If you want to go downtown it's five minutes away. If you want to walk the gardens, ride or walk the greenway or just stare out across a gorgeous Intracoastal waterway view you can do that right here in West Ashley on your own schedule. All of these options are between 2 and 15 minutes away. Many restaurants in the area deliver independently or participate with GrubHub and UberEats.

The Cottage is located in the DuPont section of West Ashley on Wappoo Road between the West Ashley Greenway and the Stono River Overlook ICW at the Edgewater Park Bridge. The building faces a private garden behind a privacy gate and is completely separate from the owners' home which is also on the property. We are located two miles from the Avondale entertainment district and four miles to downtown Charleston and the Medical District.

We enjoy interacting with guests, but we also believe in giving people their space. All arrangements can be made online and contact-free. We are generally available during the day between 8AM and 7PM and we are happy to assist you with local information or any special needs. The Cottage at DuPont is a fully licensed short term rental accommodation in the City of Charleston. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT ALLOW PETS, CHILDREN, SMOKING OR EVENTS OF ANY KIND.

Lovely Retreat

What a lovely, secluded cottage that offers both privacy and relaxation. The garden and Koi pond were a welcome oasis after a day of touring in Charleston. The owners were readily available throughout our stay and were both welcoming and accommodating. (we tried several of the restaurant recommendations and were not disappointed!)The cottage was prefect for 2 people for a get-away vacation. We certainly will return again.Thank you. Georgia and Dan

Wonderful oasis in West Ashley

I loved the apartment and the gorgeous park like setting. Place is close to downtown Charleston and the West Ashley greenway. Charlie and Rob were great to communicate with and the check in process was a breeze. Would definitely stay here again when I’m CHS!!

Absolutely Perfect!

This was our first time in Charleston and this property exceeded our expectations! It was very clean and provided all of the amenities that we could need. It was well kept and overall beautiful! The owners were also very welcoming and provided lots of fun recommendations to do around the area. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic stay

We had a wonderful time at Charlie and Rob’s cottage. The apartment was beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. The garden is worth the stay on it’s own. Charlie provided a lengthy list of places to eat and visit which was very helpful. We hope to return and will definitely stay at the cottage.

This place could not have been more perfect. The cottage is very cute and the garden is just amazing. You can tell Charlie and Rob put in a lot of effort with the property and they were great hosts as well! Would absolutely stay here again.

Very cute place!

Owners did a great job curating the plants and decor for this peaceful little hideaway. The Koi pond is so relaxing. Very clean. Larger appliances are all up to date and modern. All streaming services were available. We had a great stay.

We could not have had a nicer experience. Everything about the cottage was perfect. The interior design is very convenient and inviting. The garden is great. Even greater are our host Charlie and rob. They were very inviting and responsive. We hope to return.

Pictures will never do any place justice. This place is diamond in a gem mine. If you love wine, peace and quiet, easy accesss to everything, and if you so decide some other people to share wine as you sit under a beautifully lit naturescape, this is your place. Perfection

I stayed in the property M-F. Extremely clean, comfortable, and well-kept property. Perfectly centralized location to downtown, beaches, etc, but not in a touristy area. Pictures don't do the wonderfully landscaped back yard justice. It's like a private botanical garden. The hosts were very friendly and top notch. This is the way a VRBO should be. Highly recommended, and I will definitely be back.

Beautiful home and garden

Had a lovely visit at this home. Owners next door with shared garden. Charlie and Rob were so hospitable, with evening visits around the koi pond. My sister enjoyed her mornings sitting in the peaceful garden. The home itself was immaculate, with lovely decor and well appointed kitchen. Nice neighborhood with walking/bike path close by. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent Location

We had a great time staying in West Ashley at this rental on Wappoo. Charlie and Rob were the perfect hosts- ready with information and conversation. The rental was clean, comfortable, and stylish. Kitchen is stocked with whatever you need to prepare meals and a nicer refrigerator than the one we have at home! Very well located with lots to do nearby. Our favorites were Charleston, Charlestown Landing and the Greenway. We didn’t have time to go to Folly Beach - so we’ll just have to go back! Thanks for a great stay!

Southern Hospitality At Its Finest!

When we first were looking to book, I reached out to Charlie with many questions which he promptly answered and provided information about the surrounding area. Our son is stationed in Goose Greek and we needed a place close by that had a full kitchen so that he could have some of his favorite home cooked meals. Let's just say, the kitchen in the cottage is spectacular! The cottage decor is well done and the chosen pieces fit the theme! The bedding immediately caught my eye and the beds & pillows were very comfortable! The towels provided were both soft and plush! The garden is a quiet, very relaxing sanctuary! I could have sat by the Koi pond for hours....and if you visit, watch for the adventures of Hoity Toity the Red-Bellied Turtle! What began as a visit to see our son and would probably be our only trip to Charleston fast became a "WE WILL BE BACK"! We experienced true Southern Hospitality. Charlie and Rob went above and beyond and their kindness will never be forgotten. We arrived as strangers and departed friends. Do not hesitate to book The Cottage at DuPont! You will not be disappointed!

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Super close to great food and downtown. It was very clean. The hosts were friendly and helpful. I would have loved to spend time in the garden but it rained the whole time we were there. It was a lovely trip.

Charlie Smith and Rob Suli re-envisioned, redesigned and rebuilt both the main house on the property as well as what became the Cottage at DuPont from 2016-2019. Charlie is a City Planner by education and independent Real Estate professional by trade. Rob is a retired VA Benefits specialist.

Charleston's West Ashley area was actually the birthplace of the both the City of Charleston and the State of South Carolina. The DuPont community of West Ashley was one of the earliest populated areas on the West side of the Ashley River directly across from downtown.

The 10 mile long West Ashley Greenway was once the right of way for the Charleston and Savannah Railroad chartered in 1854. The Cottage is located one block south of the Greenway along what was once the southern end of the Kings Highway.

Downtown is just across the river, but if you want to visit Magnolia or Middleton Gardens, walk the greenway or just stare out across a gorgeous Intracoastal waterway view you can do that right here in West Ashley on your own schedule. All of these options are between 2 and 15 minutes away. Folly Beach is about 20 minutes away.

Our guests can relax and enjoy a 1064 square foot home that sleeps four people with plenty of living area. The property has an awesome kitchen and living area where friends can share a meal and some quality time together. There's also a drop-leaf table and wi-fi if you need to get some work done while you're here.

Sitting by the pond in the morning with a cup of coffee or enjoying a glass of wine there in the afternoon is a great way to relax. If you're lucky, our very shy red-eared slider, Hoity Toity, may grace you with her presence. If Rob and I are in the garden come join us.
