The Mas Picholine

Authentic first class services and comfort Provencal Villa located at 15 minutes walk from the center of the delightful village of Eygalieres in the Alpilles mountains of Provence.

The Mas Picholine is located in the privileged natural and classified area of Alpilles.

The Mas was built in 2008. We are both in love for Provence, my wife is architect, everything has been designed for relaxing with modern equipments, and with specific decoration touch. The style is traditional from Provence.

This village is located 10mn from St Remy de Provence and close to Avignon city and the Baux de Provence.

The villa is set privately in its own 2000m2 garden within the estate, which is surrounded by old olive groves, hedges and scented trees and plants.

The property has 4 different terraces to allow you to perform all different activities with ids and friends.

You enter the property through a large gate giving access to 2 separate villas. This recently built and tastefully decorated villa accommodates up to 10 people. Entering the property, the villa is the second one on the back and far from neighbour.

The villa is set privately in its own garden within the estate, which is surrounded by old olive groves, hedges and scented trees and plants. It has four bedrooms, two on the ground floor, two upstairs, each with private shower rooms and lovely views of the Alpilles hills from the upstairs rooms.

The Mas offers 1st Class standards as well as for construction material than equipments. Floors, windows, chimney and stairs with stones, saloon with high ceiling with very old and visible beams, marble in bathrooms, wood floors in bedrooms.

It has four bedrooms, two on the ground floor, two upstairs, each with private shower room and lovely views on the Alpilles hills, the old village and the Mont Ventoux. The two double and two twin rooms have been individually decorated in a Provencal style and the whole house is air-conditioned.

The salon is comfortably finished and has a fireplace, a large, satellite television screen, DVD and hi-fi. The kitchen is typically French and well equipped with a large fridge/freezer, oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher and opens onto a covered terrace, where there is a barbecue, table and chairs. There is also laundry room with a washing and drying machine.

There is a swimming pool in a lovely, shady setting, which has a security alarm and lawn chairs and garden furniture scattered under the trees. Four specific terraces have been accommodated for relaxing. Outside lights softly illuminate the whole property in the evenings.

The layout is as follows :

Ground Floor :

The house distributes a large living room (51 m²) and dining area, a fully equipped eat-in-kitchen. There is 2 bedrooms on this floor.

The living room has two sets of French windows opening onto the garden and looking onto the pool. There is a fireplace, two large sofas, some armchairs, as well as a Home cinema TV, and a stereo system with CD and DVD players.

The dining area is furnished with an oval dining table seating 10.

The open kitchen is separated from the dining room by an eating counter, it is fully equipped : an oven, four electric induction hotplates, a microwave, a coffee maker, a toaster, a American fridge and a dishwasher. A windows looks onto the garden. Next to the kitchen is a laundry room with a washing and drying machine.

The two first bedrooms are on the east part of the house.

The first bedroom has a south exposed French window opening onto the garden with a marvelous view on a more than 100 years old olive grove, a double size bed with bed side tables, a chest of drawers and a built in closet. There is an en-suite stall shower bathroom with double wash stone basin and a toilet.

The second bedroom is furnished with 3 single beds, and a wardrobe. There is an en-suite bathroom with a single washbasin, a stall shower and a toilet.

First French Floor :

On the upper floor are two more bedrooms:

The first bedroom to the right is furnished with 3 single bed, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. There is an en-suite a stall shower with a washbasin, and a toilet.

The second bedroom is furnished with a double bed with bedside tables, a dresser and a built in closet. There is an en-suite stall shower with a double washbasin and a toilet.

Each bedroom on this floor has a window facing south and opening onto the garden with tremendous view on the Alpilles hills, the bathrooms have view on the old Eygalières Village and the Mont Ventoux.

Outside :

A fully equipped summer kitchen is available off the kitchen and the living room, under the large stone and shaded terrace with garden furniture.

It is equipped with a BBQ, 4 electric burners and a stone sink like many years ago.

The landscaped garden is planted with trees (olive, palm…) and lawn.

The large swimming pool (11,5Mx5 M) is surrounded by lawn.

You access the property through a private lane and stairs. At the rear of the house are enough parking spaces for several cars. There is also a garage for a car.

The villa is also at the centre of the Baux de Provence and Côteaux d'Aix vineyards and not far from Château Neuf du Pape.

The closest highway is the A7 (exit Cavaillon) 15 minutes drive away, which goes from Lyon to Marseille with connections for all major cities of the south east of France.

The closest train station is at Avignon and is served by the TGV (Train Grande Vitesse, i.e. high speed train) that goes to Paris in 2 hours and 40 minutes!

The closest airport is Avignon as well with daily flights to Paris. But most international connections are made through the international airports of Marseille-Marignane or Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

Why Isabelle Messier chose France

In fact, we have not bought the house, we did it. My wife is Architect, I'm Engineer, we both love Provence and we decided with the combination of our competencies to build a typical Provencal Mas.

We did it with our Heart for our future of our family and we decided to rent it for a certain period to partly absorb the costs.

We have choosen to make the construction with stones, woods from the area. Often our Customers are telling us that this Mas Picholine is 'Authentic'.

On the other side, you will get all the confort of a modern house with very high standards.

Why this area : as described in the website, you have great opportunities in this Provence area with StRemy de Provence (VanGogh, Glanum archeology, artist town...), Avignon town, Nimes arenes, Alpilles wonderfull hills, famous provencal markets, olives trees... And a nice weather a large part of the year.

Very Special!

We stayed here in September with our large, three generation family. The property is just faultless. We have rented similar standard properties in France for several years now and this was is up there with the very best and represents value for money. Very safe for young children. Plenty of privacy but just a short walk into the village. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return!

Perfect Provence

This was our first stay at the Mas de Picholine and it did not disappoint. Nestled in the small village of Eygalieres the house offered modern amenities with a traditional Provençal feel. Even though we came "off season" our young children enjoyed the scenery as well as the pool area. The house was within walking distance to the village and many other recommend sights / villages including "les baux" we're all a short distance away. The owner and his staff were very communicative and answerd questions Ina timely manner. All in all a great property that we will no doubt visit again in the future.....

We had a wonderful stay at Mas Picholine for the week of 11-18 June, 2011. The villa was beautiful...with everything needed for a fabulous family vacation for our family of 5. Eygalieres is a beautiful village, lovely restaurants and stores....all within walking distance. A great base to explore the region. We would LOVE to come back!!!

A great Villa and Location.

We have stayed at this Villa twice. It is first class with a nice mixture of modern and traditional Provence. The house is very well equipped - the kitchens (inside and outdoor) are state of the art and make this a fabulous place if you think you might enjoy going to the Provencal markets and coming home to cook your purchases on the outdoor kitchen/BBQ. We did this pretty much every night! The pool area is excellent and again, very well equipped. You can also have the pool heated for an extra charge which made it very enjoyable for all the family. We visited with our two children 2 and 5 as well as grandparents. The property is about 10k from St Remy de Provence which is a truly magical place which will has so much to do and see. The local village of Eygalieres is a short drive (long walk with young kids) and again has plenty of shops, Boulangerie(s) and a Michelin star restaurant. We highly recommend this property and the owners Gilles and Isabelle Messier who are extremely helpful and proactive to ensure a smooth rental.

The mas Picholine was everything we had excpected. The house was charming and well situated in a very calm neighborhood. Everything was decorated in good taste to the tiniest detail.
