The view of the river was awesome and soothing to listening to. Kitchen was stocked pretty good with supplies, but remember to bring all food items. Beds were all comfortable. The fireplace was nice. The bathrooms are small but doable. There is lots of road noise, but over all a very enjoyable experience.
Clean and comfortable. Small kitchen, one of two showers is small. Very cozy and warm living room. Responsive host. Easy access to a nice restaurant next door but delivery truck woke me up at 4 am the day after Christmas, I doubt deliveries are usually that early, could have been getting an early start on deliveries due to lost time on the holiday, ie giving them the benefit of a doubt. Either way some noise from restaurant activities may occur. River was nice to have, basically running thru the backyard.
The cabin was clean, beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for our group of 7. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed spending time outside
Wow... we loved staying here! Great location to the river, Garlic Mikes and the waterpark! It feels like you are miles out of town and actually you are only a few minutes from City Market. We had the opportunity to mee the owners. They are the best! Thank you so much for sharing your special place!
The property owner was very responsive. The location was beautiful on the river on the outskirts of town and the cabin was very clean. Would highly recommend this cabin.
Great place, plenty of room for family. Close to town, bar & grill next door. But best of all was walking out the back door to see the beautiful river flowing with deer walking around early in the morning.
Grandpa’s cabin exceeded our expectations. The patio was heaven. Early in the morning with coffee, breakfast and a beautiful view over the river? Life is good.
We were very pleased to be able to stay at Virgil's Cabin. The cabin is spacious and clean. It was so relaxing to sit by the river and watch the world go by. We enjoyed a fire and s'mores most evenings by the fire pit. The cabin is tucked away from the highway so it feels more secluded but the location made it easy to pick up groceries and other supplies we needed. We would stay again in a heartbeat!
Hunted GMU 67 a little over 1 hour drive from cabin beautiful location on the Gunnison River tried fishing in front of cabin but no luck didn’t matter we got 4 nice elk so a great week
Thank you very much

We love this house on the river! We stayed for 1 week while attending the 4th of a July balloon rally. The house was perfect for our family. One of the bunk beds had dirty sheets, but we were able to change those out with extra linen in the house- the property manager was very responsive. Only other thing we would’ve liked to see was to have the yard mowed down. We are planning on booking again next year!
I am turning 70 this year and my son is celebrating his 6-year anniversary. We decided to make the mountains and Colorado our destination for celebrating and it worked out great as we already have one son living in Crested Butte. We had a great week together and loads of outdoor activities. i recommend these locations for family, this property fit all 9 of us comfortably. Very scenic on the river, close to town and restaurants, I would do it again.
We absolutely loved sitting by the river each night. The cabin has 4 nice lounge chairs by the river, a firepit and also 2 sets of outdoor chairs and tables. We grilled every night and one night walked next door to Garlic Mike's (make a reservation.) The upstairs loft is a bit difficult to get to with a straight up ladder, so don't plan on using it for kids or elderly adults. It was ok for 2 younger adults.
Cabin is nicely equipped with cooking pans and utensils and lots of seating inside too. Bathrooms were clean and there are 3 of them.
Being right on the river was amazing, we will definitely be back!

Great Location, cabin needs some work
Great location on the river. Very good for a family with kids. Kids would enjoy small loft, even though it is not recommended because of potential unsafe. For multiple adults staying, loft is too small, bunk beds not for adults, plus bottom bunk bed frame broken. Bathrooms and showers are very small, need updating. Kitchen ok for small group. It took a while to learn light switch locations. Cleaning needs to be done under beds and corners. Stove top burners were not easy to control. We enjoyed our stay, but cabin was not quite what we expected based on on-line promotion content.

I am so glad that you came and enjoyed your stay in the mountains. I am sorry that you had come complaints, but if you had reached out during your stay I would have gladly visited with you.
Both cabins on the property were built by Grandpa and his best friend Virgil in the mid to late 1950s. They remained virtually unchanged until the 1990s when Grandpa's was sold. Not sure when Virgil's family sold theirs. During that time owners made changes that we don't care for and are now trying to remedy, but that takes time.
While Virgil's ladder is not convenient, it is not unsafe. It has been used by family and guests since the 1950s. That is why the listing states that it's not recommended for everybody due to the steepness. That staircase is on the list after we get Grandpa's ceiling and master bedroom completed and we recover financially from those.
The owners recently purchased both properties back into their family. They have been working hard to update them.
We try really hard to advertise correctly without misleading anyone. Bunk beds are bunk beds and generally used for kids as they are the standard size. This is the first we've heard about a bunkbed being broken, so thank you for letting me know about this so we can tend to it. I have pased on to my cleaners as well.
I am always happy to hear from guests on how we can ensure they have a great stay and so can the next guest

Septic System Failure
The cabin is nice, and the location on the water is great. The cabin does not sleep 11 though, and my son had to sleep in the foyer, which was inconvenient at night. The biggest issue was that the septic system failed right before our stay, and it was too late to cancel. We had to spend 5 days without being able to put anything in the toilet besides what came naturally, if you catch my drift. That was challenging, to say the least. And when I asked about a discount for the inconvenience, they only gave me 10%, which I thought was insufficient. One other thing that I hope they have fixed - there was not a single cleaning product to be found, aside from dish soap. I think some basic cleaning supplies would be prudent. Do they think no one will make a mess? Hopefully they upgrade the plumbing. If you are going to advertise this as a house for 11 you'd best have excellent plumbing.

I am so sorry that you did not have a good experience. I was not happy with what was happening as well and the timeline just did not allow either of us the ability to get it arranged any differently. I am so sorry that people do not read signs and put wipes in the toilet, which broke our lift station. I told you about the situation as soon as I found out about it, before you got here, and offered you a full refund if you wanted to cancel. You chose to come anyway and we did our best to help you have a good stay. I am very sorry that you did not agree to the discount, but I never heard anything about you not being satisfied with that until I read it here. I also wish that you had talked to me while you were here about not having any cleaning products. After you left was really the only communication that you gave to me. I immediately went out and bought some products… in my world I only know what is going on if I’m told about an issue, and I try to resolve it as quickly as I can. We did supply you with extra trash bags in the bathrooms. I am sorry for this inconvenience but we were doing the best we could. We worked our hardest to get it fixed as soon as we could and we did.
The home is advertised for Max capacity sleeps 11. Which it does. I’m not exactly sure where your Son slept, but the twin beds are in a common space as advertised.
This is a very quaint cabin and its location on the river is spectacular. We were there for hunting season, and it was really great to drink our morning coffee by the river. We also took advantage of the fire pit as well. Overall a great experience.
