Spacious Ocean View Getaway, 3 min walk to beach with large fenced in yard

2024 updates: mini splits AC in all rooms and living areas except the primary bedroom and the 2nd floor bonus room (these rooms will still be cooled with window units*). Tv in living room has been upgraded to a 60” smart TV.

Kickstart your Maine getaway with ocean views and a central location. Choose your own adventure: On one side, a 3 minute walk down private neighborhood paths takes you to 7 miles of sandy beach for relaxation and play. On the other, a 3 minute walk takes you to the boat launch at Scarborough marsh and the Nonesuch River for fishing, boating, or just floating. Or stick around the house to enjoy the large deck with water views, BBQ, basement bar, and ample outdoor space. Welcome to Driftwood Sands.

The space:
Water views from almost every room, large outdoor entertaining space, fenced yard, firepit, basement bar/game room/library, eat-in kitchen, 5 bedrooms sleep 14 with room to spare, and driveway space for 10+ cars. 20 minute drive from Portland International Airport and 5 minutes to Old Orchard Pier.

3 bedrooms and 2 baths on the ground level, 1 large bonus room bedroom above the garage, and 1 large attic bedroom over the living room. Additional bath on the 2nd level. Open kitchen, dining, bistro, and living area with doors to the deck on the 2nd level.

Beach supplies provided: 1 beach cart, 10 beach chairs, 2 umbrellas, 2 boogie boards, 10 beach towels, sandcastle/digging toys, games (bocce and spike ball).

A day at Driftwood Sands:
Hit the fully stocked eat-in kitchen first thing in the morning to grab a cup o’ joe from the Keurig or French Press. Then head out to watch the light change over the ocean and plan your day at the outdoor dining table/deck rail bar while the kids (or kids at heart) roll out of the bunkroom to play in the yard below. Ready for breakfast? Zip over to the Holy Donut to grab a maple bacon donut before starting your adventure, or have a seat at the sunny bistro area to fuel up.

Located within walking distance to the beach, marsh, river, restaurants, and deli, you could easily spend a day adventuring without a car. Looking to stray farther afield? Old Orchard Pier, Palace Playland, kayak and bike rentals, fishing charters, Saco Drive-In, Aquaboggan Water Park, Funtown Splashtown USA, golf courses and more are all within a 10 minute drive. Sunburnt or sunned-out? A quick 20 minute drive into Portland gets you a day of shopping, restaurants and city fun.

As your day winds down, stop by the marsh on your way home to slow down and watch the sunset over the water. As night falls, head back to the house to grab a burger off the BBQ and saunter down to the fire pit to regale the group on your escapades. Then head inside to the basement bar and turn on the game, grab a puzzle or board game from the shelf to gather around, or cozy up with a book from the library before heading off to bed. With 4 bedrooms plus a bunk room, there is plenty of space for everyone to recuperate before another day of fun in the sun.

Amenities include: Board games, a variety of books, 4 Roku equipped TVs, 2 electric fireplaces, fire pit, propane BBQ grill, deck, large outdoor space, beach access, river access, free wi-fi, complimentary tea and coffee, complimentary house slippers, laundry. All linens, pillows, and bedding are provided. Basic toiletries also complimentary.

*AC window units in garage bonus room and master bedroom are installed around Memorial Day, removed around Indigenous People’s Day, based on the weather. If you are visiting around these weekends and prefer they be installed earlier, or left in later, just let us know.

***After receiving a few noise complaints from a neighboring property, we have installed a decibel monitor on the shed in the corner of the yard. It is a combined video and sound monitoring system, which will alert us if noise on the property is excessive.
