Spacious Hawaiian home 50 steps from Sugar Beach!

This permitted private home (STKM2020/003, TA-145-334-3744) is unique to the vacation rental market! The home is a short 50 steps to a stretch of the famous Sugar Beach. It's a spacious and updated three bedroom, two bathroom, that comfortably sleeps a total of SIX guests(regardless of age). All six guests shall be of the same party. The home is situated on a spacious lot with native lush trees and greenery. The trade winds keep the home cool throughout the year. This home does not have air conditioning.
The indoor and outdoor spaces have been created with relaxation in mind. However, no parties, events, or receptions of any kind are allowed.

Quiet hours are 9am to 8pm, during which time the noise from the short term rental home shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors. Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive then would be otherwise associated with a residential area.
Amplified sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries of the short term rental is prohibited.
Vehicles shall be parked in the designated onsite parking area and shall not be parked on the street.
No parties or group gatherings other than registered guests shall occur.
The shoreline area is the property of the people of Hawaii and is open for the free use by everyone.

I was pleasantly surprised! Perfect size for our B family and what a cute home!!

We traveled for a family wedding. The house was perfect. So cute and had everything we needed and literally steps to the beautiful beach!

If Hawaii is paradise then this was hades

Upon entering the house it was uncomfortable warm. There was water on the floor in front of the refrigerator. The door leading to the patio FAILED to lock. Only one bedroom had a window unit to cool the room. Definitely more than 50 steps to the beach. Made 3 attempts to communicate with management of the property but their response was text messages. This location would ideal if the owner made needed improvements.

Maui Waui

Fabulous spot for a family with kids (3, in our case). Quiet neighborhood just a few minutes away from great food and stores. Plenty of space in the house and a cute backyard to boot. Incredibly easy to walk to the beach (crosswalk and access path). Good spot for day trips north and west. A+

Great for sleeping, not gathering

The house is nice and the rooms were perfect for our group: 5 adults, incl. 2 couples. Having 3 adult-sized beds and 3 bedrooms was rare, and I was very happy to have found this one. However, there's nowhere in the house for that many people to be together. The house sleeps 6 but there's nowhere for more than 4 people to be in the same room at the same time. The upstairs porch/TV room only has 3-4 chairs. The counter seating in the kitchen is 4 very uncomfortable stools. The sofa-like seat nearby is not terribly comfortable and seats at a max of 3 squished. The 2 seats in the "coffee nook" are tiny and randomly placed. This was a family vacation, and we wanted to spend time together as a family (we really like each other lol). But this house is not conducive for that. It's great for sleeping but there was really no thought put into furnishing it for a comfortable family gathering. I was initially concerned about the broken fan and light downstairs, the torn back screen door, and a challenging front screen door (the handle is too close to the door and I cut myself each time I turned the knob to go inside), but we had plenty of light and air circulation anyways, and we had no issues with bugs in the house. The only other really strange thing was our laundry detergent disappeared. There was someone we saw making deliveries once or twice, and then a couple days before the end of the trip, our large container of laundry detergent went missing from the laundry area. Frustrating.

Great place!

The house was very well maintained and clean. Very close to beach, and some fun beach restaurants. Would have been nice to have AC in each bedroom upstairs, it was very Hot! Otherwise, a very nice home away from home.

Maui quickie

Thai is a fabulous location. Truth about how close to beach! Our only issue was there was no table to sit at inside. No table for cards or coffee. Outside wasn’t always appropriate. Major construction going on next door was an eyesore…

What to Expect

In fairness to other people who may rent this house you should be aware of the following: There is not inside table or furniture to watch the TV. No supplies - not even salt and pepper, laundry detergent or shampoo. No containers, plastic wrap, etc.to store leftover food. Almost everything was in need of repair and most certainly updating. Toilet upstairs would keep running unless you lifted the handle up. The screen in the lanai had holes and unattached at the bottom. And I found the owner to be completely unworkable. However, the beds and pillows were extremely good.

Beautiful space in great location

Really enjoyed the space and location. Pictures lead me to imagine it was on the beach which is actually across the street, and is indeed very close. Host response was somewhat slower than most places I have stayed, though helpful when response came. I would stay here again.

Just perfect for us!

We will definitely stay in this property again! Great location, plenty of space for everyone. Loved eating on the patio. Washer and dryer were huge and worked fast. The place was very clean when we arrived.

Family of 6

We had booked this house for the last half of our trip to Maui. We were at the edge of Lahaina when the fire started and were stuck there for 2+ days after, fortunately we were avid to get ahold of the host “Hannah” and she let us in to the property a day early and even extended us two days after when our connecting flight was delayed. House was beautiful, clean and so comforting for our family after our experience. Will stay here again when we come back to Maui in the future.

Great location help make the trip awesome.

This property was very nice and clean. Its location was great. The only issue was the only A/C was in the master bedroom which was not a problem just a surprise. In addition, there is a locked portion of the house which the cleaning help used and stayed at pat of the time. This created no problem but was a surprise. Once we were used to it, it worked out fine.

Disappointing

We were disappointed with the quality of the rental. It was not what was marketed on Vrbo. Here is a partial list of issues: several lights and fans did not work, the screen door across from the front door was coming apart so we could not leave it open, the shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom was falling apart, there were cockroaches on the kitchen counter and in the upstairs shower when we arrived, there was no cleaner for cleaning the counters, the tv on the enclosed porch did not work, the wall of the upstairs bathroom was filthy, paint on the primary bedroom wall above the bed was coming off.

Adequate No Frills

We came to stay after being in Kona. House is situated in a central location - easy to get most anywhere. The house is positioned very close to two main thoroughfares. There is road noise, and earplugs are a must in the bedrooms which have no air conditioning - assuming you open the windows to sleep. Kitchen is minimally outfitted. We ran out of staples such as laundry soap and toilet paper - which was annoying. The yard space is beautiful and serene. All lights and fans are in need of being checked. Either some bulbs were burned out or we lacked directions on how to turn them on. Overall this is a modern nice home which met our budget and adventure needs.

Great Location!

The location of this house was great, it really is just about 100 steps from the beach! The house itself is really nice with comfy beds and nice amenities, but it gets HOT. The only room with AC is the master bedroom upstairs. The living room and all of the other bedrooms never really cool down at night even with the windows open. There are some things that need fixing as two of the ceiling fans didn't work, one fan you can't change the speed and the oscillating fan didn't work. All the beach furniture supplied in the backyard is in need of replacement - so we just took towels. That being said, the new patio furniture in the Lanai was comfortable and we enjoyed spending time there. We did have one issue where some people knocked on the door asking about buying an A/C unit. We told them they were at the wrong property. Shortly thereafter, someone else working with the property manager knocked on the door asking to come in to sell them the A/C unit. We were never made aware that they were coming and the people buying the A/C came into the unit which we were not comfortable with. Had we not been at the home, it seems that they planned to enter the unit with the other individuals with no notice to us - which didn't feel great knowing we had belongings out. Even with these few issues we all had a great stay and would recommend this house to anyone looking for a nice quite stay in Kihei.
