An excellent location with very easy beach access, and a great cycleway all the way into Waihi Beach along the river. Lots of space in the kitchen with all the pots and pans and utensils we needed, comfy beds with many spare woollen blankets which was great for our family after a day out on the Hauraki Rail Trail. Decks front and back to catch the sun whatever time of day. It reminded me of baches I used to stay in when I was a kid, only in much better shape! Thank you so much Gaye for letting us use what is obviously a well loved, and well cared for holiday home.

This is a gorgeous wee place to stay near the beach! Very homely. A few minute walk to the beach - this part of the beach is not patrolled so not the best for swimming, but great for walks, games, shell finding, making sand castles etc. For swimming the patrolled area is only a 5 minute drive so still very close! Very safe & quiet neighbourhood, so glad we chose to stay here instead of a busy, noisy camping ground. Close to shelly bay, Anzac bay and cave bay for some exploring.Only a 5 minute drive to the hotpools at Athenree for those cold, windy days. Can be a wee bit chilly in the evenings but there's an abundance of blankets to wrap up with. No WiFi available, but was quite nice to switch off and watch DVDs in our down time.Great communication with Gaye, she's absolutely lovely.All in all, we had the best time here and we will definitely be back!!

Exceptional communication with the host. And this is probably the most under-rated place we have ever stayed in - it far exceeded our expectations.

Comfortable family bach

A great base for a fun school holiday week - close to the beach so we could retreat when the rain blew in.

Hi Kathie, re: your feedback on the Wakanoi bach at Bowentown, Waihi Beach. Please advise why you provided such a low rating ie 1 out of 5. The same standard has applied to all bookings over the passed 10 years and this is the only time it has fallen way below. How do you think we could improve. Lovely kiwi style bach

Lovely kiwi style bach with welcoming neighbours and great helpful communication from the owners.. despite the wet weather we managed to have a great time. The bach felt very homely and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely spot by the sea

The property was really nicely located in a quiet area not far from the beach. Everything we needed was there and easy to find. It was all impeccably clean. It reminded me of going to the beach shack as a kid.

Cute batch

Lovely batch in a good location the grandchildren and I enjoyed the cycle tracks and walk along the beach. Clean and well presented 2 bedroom house would definitely stay again. Thank you 5 stars

This bach is so close to the beach, and is kept in a nice clean state. The manager was great to deal with, and everything was as it should be.

Home away from home

A traditional kiwi Bach that our family was very reluctant to leave. The Bach has everything you need, located in a great area, surrounded by friendly locals. Looking forward to coming back. Thanks again Gaye!

Clean and comfy

This bach was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It is only a short walk to the beach and although the weather was pretty grotty, we just got out and and made the most of it :) We had a wonderful break and a memorable stay. Thank you so much for your hospitality and for sharing your bach.

Excellent property and location

We totally enjoyed our stay at this property. It was very cosy and clean. Had everything we need with comfortable beds too. The location was excellent. The owner of this property was awesome and friendly and very helpful with any information we needed. We would fully recommend this property to anyone wanting a lovely relaxking holiday.

Bowentown Bach

Perfect holiday place - neat and tidy - comfy beds, all the necessities you need on a break away from home, two decks to choose from, good parking - not at all bad for the price. Would rent again.

Highly recommended

Great little bach in Bowentown. Down a quiet right of way with lovely neighbours, just a few minutes' walk through the dunes to the beach. The bach is well equipped with bikes, boogie boards, board games and books. All the B's you could want, just bring your own beers and barbeque bangers :) Gaye is an excellent host and communicated very well. Even when we locked ourselves out she was very obliging and organised a family member to drop off a spare key. Highly recommended and we would love to have the chance to stay here again!

Peaceful cosy slice of NZ beach life

Kiwi Getaway.

A very comfortable, well equipped bach, handy to the beach and Bowentown amenities. We would certainly look to stay here again. The only disappointing feature is the shower water pressure, surprising really given that the pressure in the kitchen taps is so strong.

Lovely comfortable house with everything you need!

My friend and I hired this house for a weekend holiday at the beach and had a lovely time. The house was well set up and a comfortable "family bach". You can't see the ocean beach but can see the estuary towards Athenree, and with decks on two sides of the house you can happily sit in the sun or shade to read or dine outside. The beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed, and the lazyboy chairs to watch tv at night by were an extra treat! Only a 2 minute walk across the dunes to the sea, this is a great affordable bach to get away to and enjoy the beach. The owners were great to deal with and I highly recommend. I'd happily stay here again.
