William & Liz were lovely guests to host. Communication was great and they treated the place really well. We'd definitely host them again and have no problem recommending to other hosts.
Excellent communication with Owners, had a long power cut and they provided us with candles so we weren’t left in the dark. Property has everything you need, highly recommend.

Thank you very much Andrea - it was great to host you and your group. :-)
Loved our stay here! Very clean and well maintained! Even with 5 adults, we never felt cramped or on top of each other. Set in a beautiful, quiet area. As we were from out of the country, we really appreciated that there was a device set up for USB charging. Hosts always answered questions quickly. An ideal place to stay if you're staying in the area!
Loved our stay here. Just what I had imagined from the photos. Very clean. Excellent spot with bush and creek as back drop. Great cafe down the road and close to supermarkets and town. Would definately stay here again.

Thanks very much for your review Angela, we really appreciate you choosing to stay here! We'd happily have you visit another time. :-)
We really enjoyed our stay! It was a great location for relaxing at the end of a day of exploration! I loved the creek sound in the backyard and feeling like I was sitting in the forest from the comfort of the sunroom couch!
The space was clean and the beds were comfy! Leone was very helpful prior to check-in to ensure we had all of the details we needed.
Landlords excellent communication...only took one star off for tenant staying in the shed...played loud music and was confrontational with my husband regarding us using the dryer. Place was beautifully located and cleanliness top notch! Would visit again.

Sorry we didn't know about this at the time. There is a cabin at the rear of the property and we haven't had any problems in 5 years. The dryer is part of the cabin kitchen/bathroom, and we would normally facilitate the shared use with either guest. But weren't aware of it at the time. We will take some learnings from this. :-)
Everything like described. Nice calm house next to a running river. The renters tried their best for special wishes - in our case they could help us a lot- many thanks for all.
This apartment was the perfect first stop for us after our long flight from the US. Quiet and well equipped. Easy access to town for an evening meal. Jet lag didn't bother us much so we were happy that it was so close to some great hiking and attractions. Communication with the owner was easy and replies were prompt.

Thank you for that review Sue - it was a pleasure to have you stay in our Apartment. :-)
Well-located and comfy place for a short stay. The queen bed was delicious but I wouldn't recommend the sofa beds for adults - they curl up at the ends making it impossible for a tall person to lie straight. Much better for kids.
A warm and clean home, didn't get to explore the river and meet the eels which was a shame!
We had a lovely holiday in this property. The accomodation was very comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed and such a beautiful outlook onto the creek! The hosts Leone and Mark we’re very helpful and provided all the information we needed. Only one suggestion which is to put bright tape on the step down to the sun room as it is a bit of a fall hazard.
I would highly recommend this property for a brilliant holiday. Thanks Leone and Mark.

Thanks for that Robin, it was a pleasure to host you. That is a good idea regarding the step, we will have a look at that - thanks. :-)
Such a lovely home to stay in. With amenities close by it is well located close to everything. Communication with the manager was easy and trouble free. Will be back!
Thank you we came down for a weekend work conference.
Thank-you for having us, we really enjoyed your place, it was a home away from home. Location was also great!! Will recommend your place to friends and family.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Not an accurate description.
I only book stand-alone properties- whole house, unshared. This was attached with shared walls to a unit next door, one downstairs and a cabin in the back. Photos are very edited and manipulated. Homeowner next door begins VERY loud yard work with banging metals and pressure washing early in the morning on weekends. Broken fixtures and trouble with mold and bugs. Nice folks, but I don’t recommend it and I would not return. I wish them the best and hope they can make the improvements required to bring the space up to par. It could be a nice stay for a family. but not a working professional. The pricing and adverts should reflect that this is not a standalone house. This is a duplex with 2nd rental in basement and 3rd cabin in back of residential neighborhood.
The property was just right for a family of 4. No shortage of facilities. Everything you could think of was available. The sound of the stream behind the property is song to the ears.
Exceptionally clean and newly renovated.
The response from the property managers were excellent too.
Easy process (easier than air b+b). Attentive host. Clean comfortable accomodation

About the host
Hosted by Mark Neal
We have lived in the area for 28 years and our children have grown up, left home and are working in Auckland. We love it here, we are almost a bit rural, but very central to everything in Whangarei City. Leone is a Secondary School teacher and Mark runs our website design and commercial printing business. We spend as much time as we can, depending on weather, at the beach. Camping, boating, fishing and paddle-boarding are passions of ours. We are also hockey mad! Our son and daughter both represented NZ in hockey at the Rio Olympics, and our daughter was in the NZ Blacksticks team that won the Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast. We have stayed at Air BNB's & HomeAways both overseas and in New Zealand while travelling for hockey, and since discovering this form of accommodation, would never go back to motels or hotels. We love the different places, the homely atmospheres and different people we have met, and look forward to extending the same hospitality with our own short term rental accommodation.
Why they chose this property
We live about a minute walk away from the apartment, and have had a short term rental set up from our home for several years. When this apartment came up for sale we saw it as an ideal opportunity to convert it into short term rental. We have given the property a complete makeover and lived here ourselves while doing that - we loved it! We still have some exterior paint work to do, and are developing the rear garden area by the stream, but the inside and front courtyard are completely remodelled especially for short term rental stays. Just a 5 minute stroll away are the beautiful Quarry Gardens and Quail Cafe. You need to make sure to check it out at least once during your stay!
What makes this property unique
We have fast wifi, unlimited broadband and a Smart TV with Netflix account and Freeview. There is a lovely private garden and lawn, and this, along with the Waiarohia Stream which runs along the bottom of the garden, make the property quite unique, given it's close location to the city.
