Disappointing experience with Inverloch Accomodation
Myself and some friends and family stayed here over Easter, looking to get away and relax. While the location and home were great, we are left very disappointed.My guest tripped walking up the stairs early Saturday morning and upon steadying themself on the handrail, the bracket detached from the wall. Due to the weight of the handrail, this detachment then caused the other brackets securing the handrail to detach, rendering the handrail unusable and causing slight injury to my guest. We contacted the host immediately, and were told “accidents happen”. We assumed that as clearly the handrail was not structurally sound and the hosts had a duty of care to ensure the accomodation was safe, we would not be liable for this accidental damage.The hosts have now invoiced us for 825 for these repairs. We have been advised that the builder who has since repaired the handrail made the assessment ‘a significant amount of force would have been required for the handrail to break away in the manner it did — which contrasts with your description of the incident’. We agree that if the handrail was structurally sound, significant force would have been needed - however as we described, the handrail was obviously not fit for use as it detached while being used for its intended purpose.Unfortunately, for these reasons we cannot recommend staying with Inverloch Accomodation as our safety and wellbeing was not the priority. Be cautious if you stay here.
