Welcome to Totara Cottage, a charming slice of history nestled in the heart of Oneroa. Originally built in the 1940s, this cottage is one of the town’s first homes, full of character and stories. Over the years, it has evolved, blending its rich past with fresh, modern updates to create a cozy, inviting retreat for families and friends alike.



The Space:

Step inside, and you'll discover a beautifully renovated interior where country style meets modern comforts. The fully equipped kitchen offers convenience, complete with an indoor dining table. In summer, the lounge spills out onto a sunny deck, while in winter, you can unwind by the fireplace for a cozy escape.



What truly makes Totara Cottage special is its outdoor space. The expansive garden serves as a peaceful sanctuary, filled with native plants that create a tranquil atmosphere. As night falls, the space is transformed by the soft glow of festoon lights. The stone pizza oven is perfect for cooking something special or toasting marshmallows under the stars. An outdoor spa provides the perfect place to relax and unwind. With multiple outdoor spaces to choose from, you’ll find the ideal setting for dining, lounging, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature.



Totara Cottage is ideally located, just a short walk from Oneroa village, where you can enjoy some of the best dining and boutique shopping on the island. Take morning walks along Oneroa beach, explore the nearby Blackpool coastal trail, or visit the Mudbrick and Cable Bay vineyards- all right at your doorstep. Whether you're here to explore or simply relax, this central location makes it easy to experience all that Waiheke Island has to offer, even without a car.

Other Things to Note:

We always try to accommodate early check-ins and will send you a message on the day as soon as the property is ready. We provide all linen and bath towels. If you require beach towels, please bring your own, or we can arrange hire with advance notice. Baby items including portacots are available to hire too.

Great place, very convenient but quiet location. Would be particularly lovely when weather fine enough to make use of outdoor areas. Note the bathroom is situated off the smallest of the bedrooms.

Great hideaway in the middle of Oneroa

The cottage is comfortable and cozy with good facilities. Only a few minutes walk from Oneroa Beach, shops and restaurants. Even though it's in town it's very peaceful. We would definitely go again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Good to be close to village of Oneroa, yet very private location. Fair amount of traffic on main artery to the village, but we soon learned to ignore it. The Bach was comfortable and cosy. Carpets and outside couch’s could use a deep clean. However, we felt really comfortable, and highly recommend the location. Our Island personnel were extraordinary in response to any of our needs, which differed a little because of our 5 week stay.

Lovely stay!

My wife, sister-in-law and I stayed at this bach for three nights. We had a great time there. It’s a super place — a few minutes’ walk from Oneroa and with a degree of privacy from the road. The owner could not have been more helpful, accommodating and communicative. In a nutshell, strongly recommended!
