About this property
Spacious Stone Villa in the heart of Kayakoy, Overlooking the historic ruins.
Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay.
Welcome to our exquisite stone house Villa in the serene "Ghost Town" of Kaya Village, Turkiye. Boasting the best views of the ruins , our spacious villa features 5 large bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in the interior as well as a large open plan dining and living room with newly renovated caesar stone kitchen with modern amenities. The living area has an open fire place and all rooms have split system air conditioning and heating. The main bedroom with ensuite is downstairs and has a interconnecting room ideal for working remotely or just watching TV and relaxing. 4 large bedrooms upstairs share 2 bathrooms and 2 of the bedrooms have private balconies with scenic views of the ruins. Step outside to a private oasis. The property is gated and fully fenced for privacy and has a swimming pool with sunbeds and umbrellas and an outdoor bathroom. There is also an outdoor dining table as well as barbeque and outdoor kitchen area. Plenty of car parking spaces on the property. At the end of the driveway there are local buses that run every half hour in summer to the famous Oludeniz Beach, Gemiler beach, Hisaronu for nightlife and the charming harbour town of Fethiye for shopping, markets and dining.
Yours hosts Sarah and Salih have recently renovated the Villa which used to be one of the original homes in Kaya Village owned by Salih's Grandfather since the early 1920's. It has a long family history and has been restored by the owners who now live in Australia. Sarah and Salih met in Turkey about 30 years ago and lived there for some years before moving to Australia where they married in 1997 and went on to have 3 children. Jack, Sam and Nick love travelling to Turkey to visit family who all still reside in the village. They understand the culture and beauty of the area and have decided to open up this piece of paradise to tourists and visitors to enjoy.
Kaya Village is referred to as the "Ghost village" due to its quiet atmosphere and abandoned homes. Once a bustling Greek village called Levissi, it was abandoned during the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in the 1920's. An earthquake in later years left a large part of the homes in the valley in ruins. Today, its stone houses, churches and streets stand empty - preserved in time, attracting visitors curious about its haunting history and picturesque ruins. Within a few metres you can stroll to local restaurants and markets for supplies. The village is flat for easy walking and if you're more adventurous, you can join part of the Lycian trail and do some hiking with incredible views.
