Great place to get away
Great quiet place to hang out. We walked trails in local parks during our stay. Sam was very helpful and fun to talk to. Cottage was "rustic" with all the modern conveniences and clean.
Wonderful way to disconnect
I loved that this place has no wifi, no cable and no cell service. I hope that never changes! The older reveiws mentioned old furniture, but the furniture is in great shape, It looks like a new set. We liked everything about this stay. The one thing we did not like were the numerous signs around the cabin about charges if there is damage. I would think this is a given for any vacation rental, however, if there needs to be a sign, I think one would be fine.
We are so glad you had a great time with us! Our mission is to provide a relaxing and comfortable stay for our guests.
We are sorry, however, you were concerned about the 2 reminders we have posted in the unit. It is to remind our guests about the septic system and how to treat it. Some of our guests have never had to deal with a septic system and if mistreated can cause hundreds of dollars to repair. And no one wants that.
We appreciate your visit with us and hope to see you again.
Quiet, relaxing weekend
The cabin was perfect for our needs and the hosts were great. Everything was clean when we arrived and well appointed for a weekend without technology. Very enjoyable.
Cozy cottage in the woods
We enjoyed our stay at Hinch Creek Cottage. It was isolated, surrounded by trees, with a beautiful view off the front porch. I enjoyed reading outside at the picnic table. There’s no WiFi and spotty cell service (at best), so we enjoyed watching movies old-school-style on VHS. It was within driving distance to the canoe place where we tubed the river.
A few words of caution: 1) if you have a truck or SUV, bring that vs a car. We drug high center a couple of times. 2) shower fast! The hot water doesn’t last long.
There are signs posted throughout the cabin warning against various infractions, which kind of detracted from the “home away” experience.
Overall, we enjoyed it and would stay again.
Thanks Micle for the "heads up" about the hot water. We changed the element
and it works fine now. We sometimes miss issues unless our guests let us know.
Maybe disconnecting from WiFi once in a while is not a bad thing.
We are located in the rural Ozark Mountain's area. The roads here are not paved and need constant looking after. We recommend to all our guests to use normal attention to the roads condition when traveling rural farm roads.
Great escape from the plugged-in world.
The cabin is certainly remote. We wondered if we would find our destination - but the directions were true and we arrived at the hideaway. Of course, when driving out of there it seemed quick enough. ☺ It was great to find a place that was so remote there was no cell service! Amazing what that frees up - and how it helps a relationship that sometimes is swallowed by devices. (Cell service is available at the top of some roads and in town, so don't be worried if you need to check in from time-to-time.) Full disclosure: there is satellite service - although the TV is small and doesn't encourage extensive use.
The cabin was clean and sufficiently stocked with pots & pans, dishes, etc. Refrigerator was cold and stove worked fine. Clean white towels in the bathroom. AC worked great and there are ceiling fans in bedrooms and kitchen. Note that bedrooms are upstairs and the staircase is steep with railing on one side only. The other side is open.
The interior is crafted with beautiful pine floors and walls. There's an electric fireplace, but it was too hot during our stay. Furniture in the living room is different from the pictures and includes faux leather chair, couch, and loveseat. Much easier to keep clean. There were also some very nice tables, hand crafted.
We enjoyed hiking on the property, but be sure to bring some heavy duty bug repellent. We got ticks and chiggers. In addition to hiking, we visited three wineries and several antique malls and that was perfect for our three day weekend. Lots of opportunities for float trips, but we opted out.
Sam visited us each morning, just to check in and make sure everything was okay. One day he brought fresh tomatoes from his garden - which was so nice! He was personable, and we enjoyed chatting with him.
What a great little place to stay. Great option for a float trip weekend if you are not into the crowds at the campgrounds. Sam was great. He came and checked on us and we talked about his farm and bees. Would 100% stay again and recommend to others.
We are located just 10 miles south of Interstate Highway I-44 and 75 miles from St. Louis, Missouri. Come and explore the beauty of the Missouri Ozark Mountains. Tour the caves, vineyards and wineries in the area. Canoe the many rivers and streams in the area. Take a trail ride through the surrounding hills. Six Flags theme park is within a short drive from the cottage.
