The moment you walk through the grand entrance doors you will marvel at the high wood ceilings. You will also view the first of many taxidermy mounts, this one a black bear. The spectacular views of the rolling hills out the vaulted living room will beckon you in to see more. One of the most unique features of this home are the custom-built lights: suspended, wall-mounted and various lamps. The front entry and living room fixtures are a work of art: exquisite sculptures of deer antlers meshed together perfectly. The ambiance of the lighting gives a warmth to the space in the evenings and early mornings! To get to the kitchen/dining and living area proceed under the walkway connecting one end of the second floor to the other end.
The kitchen features a 4-burner gas stove, gas grill and pancake griddle. It includes two ovens of different sizes. The kitchen is well equipped with pots/pans and frying pans as well as the usual toaster, blender, and all the baking tools you will need. Coffee / tea are available including both Keurig coffee and a 12-cup drip coffeemaker. Coffee / tea, sugar and salt/pepper are provided. Bring your favorite hot and cold drinks and any cooking spices you might need. The kitchen features a large island which works well as a buffet serving area if you want to keep things simple! The kitchen is outfitted with every appliance you will need as well as a wide assortment of serving dishes, platters, baking pans and cookie sheets. There are enough plates, bowls and utensils for 20, so if you have a full house and don’t get the dishwasher turned on, you’ll still have enough.
The 12-person dining area is the perfect place to gather all the family together for quick lunches or a special celebration. From here, head out to the covered deck which features a spectacular hand-built wood table with benches, as well as a round table and chairs for dining. The natural gas BBQ is immense and will feed your big crowd.
If you have little ones, the playhouse yard is fenced and is accessed directly from the deck, so you can enjoy the views and the BBQ supper while the kids go off and play.
The main floor living area, with its magnificent, vaulted ceilings is where you will want to gather your family and friends! The floor to ceiling windows offer breathtaking views. This is where you will most likely see a moose, or two, so binoculars are sitting on the coffee table for you. There is seating for 12 throughout this space.
Behind the gorgeous stone fireplace (complete with TV insert) is the master bedroom: “Eagle’s Nest” is named after the nearby Eagle’s Nest camp which was built by the original owners of Cypress Chalet. This beautiful room features a stone fireplace (not operable), 3 huge windows facing the hills, two big easy chairs for private lounging and a walk-in closet off the master bath. This exquisite bathroom features a two person jacuzzi tub, a steam/shower, double sink vanity and private toilet stall.
Now let’s take the hand-crafted wood staircase to the second floor and check out the three bedrooms and other living spaces that it offers. The “Fisherman” room at the top of the stairs is cozy and perfect for a couple: sloped ceilings and beautiful south-westerly views greet you. This room features a Queen bed, a desk / chair and a comfy lounge chair if you need a private get-away space for reading. The “Fisherman” room has its own bathroom, with a tub/shower combo.
Cross the walkway and you get to the “library area” complete with a l-shaped leather sectional, a large desk perfect for puzzles, letter writing or catching up on some office work (if you really need to!). The large desk has ample room for the book collection: something for everyone is here. There is even a printer if you need to print something off. From this viewpoint you will see 2 more of the taxidermy mounts: the elk and fox.
Past the “Library” area are two bedrooms – which share a large, full bathroom. The “Moose” room features a Queen bed plus two single beds….. this is a very large room and would be perfect for a couple with two little kids! The “Moose” room has direct access to the bathroom which features a shower and a jacuzzi tub.
The third bedroom on the second level is the “Elk” room. The Elk is a very cozy room with beautiful sloped, wood ceilings giving this room, with its spectacular views, a special charm. A sofa offers the guests a private get-away space.
Head back to the staircase and keep going down the stairs to the lower level. There are two bedrooms on the lower level: The “Deer” room is cozy, perfect for a couple, with an adjacent shower and bathroom. This room has a huge bay window with stunning views to the hills beyond. The “Red Fox” room is large and has a huge window with gorgeous views. The attached bathroom features a 2-person tub as well as a separate shower.
The lower level provides all you need for an evening of movies, games and billiards after a busy day hiking, biking or beaching! The deer mount at the bottom of the stairs watches over the pool table. The games area features an octagonal table specifically for poker! All the cards and chips you will need are also provided. Are you a crokinole fan? We’ve got that too. The u-shaped leather sectional in front of the TV could fit your entire family plus cousins!
If you haven’t had enough of a workout playing pickleball, the lower level includes an elliptical and a stationary bike. For something a little different try the dry sauna. Big enough for two! The lower level leads you out to the hot tub and the firepit area. The hot tub comfortably seats six. Beach towels are provided for hot tub use. Both the hot tub and firepit feature amazing views – too beautiful to describe! Check out the photos. From the lower-level deck, you can take the shale steps up to the main deck and access the “viewpoint” (a perfect spot for photos), the kids play yard / playhouse and the main covered deck, with access to the kitchen.
One of the most unique features of the Cypress Chalet are the 4 pickleball courts, completely fenced and ready for some fun competitive play or teaching the little ones the basics of the game. Nets, paddles and balls are stored in the back entry closet for easy access.
We know you’ll enjoy the peace and serenity that Cypress Chalet offers. Of course, we hope you go into Elkwater and enjoy the walking / biking trails, the beach with all its amenities, the Visitor Centre / Museum and the restaurants and grocery store. You will never lack for something to see or do at Cypress Chalet.
