About this property
Landmark District /1872 Townhouse/Walk to River, Shopping, Dining /Parking
Just steps from historic Crawford Square and a short stroll to vibrant River Street, Andrew’s Townhouse puts you at the center of Savannah’s celebrated Landmark District. The 1872 home’s new owner has repurposed the historic property into a comfortable and tastefully furnished abode for Savannah’s visitors. Carefully appointed and freshly painted, Andrew’s Townhouse embodies the essence and characteristics of today’s Hostess City properties: history, comfort, elegance and location. We operate with enhanced cleaning procedures and flexible policies.
Victorian-era architecture and a bright red door welcome you to Andrew’s Townhouse. Inside, the high ceilings trimmed in gold paint are breathtaking. The foyer opens to a spacious double parlor, now the living and dining areas, which are furnished for function and aesthetics -- a pleasing mix of traditional and contemporary pieces. The décor is simple yet engaging, enhancing the many fine original details of this nearly 150-year-old home. High ceilings and chandeliers descending from ornate medallions are typical of Savannah’s historic residences. South-facing windows invite in the sun’s golden rays, illuminating the lovely patina of the original heart-pine floors. Eclectic, comfortable and understated furnishings give a nod to Southern Hospitality. (There’s even a vintage leather-topped Wurlitzer piano!)
Many fine and casual restaurants are within walking distance, but you may choose to prepare some meals or pack picnic lunches for an afternoon at Forsyth Park or Tybee Island Beach. Our kitchen is fully equipped, with a gas stove and oven, full size fridge, dishwasher, microwave, pots, pans, utensils, and dishwasher -- the essentials for basic meal prep. Coffee maker, tea kettle, and electric hand mixer make fixing breakfast a breeze. Dishes, glassware and flatware are provided. Just bring your food and drink. Kroger is a five-minute drive, and Whole Foods will take you about 15 minutes. Dine inside at the period-appropriate table and chairs for six, with extras for guests, or alfresco at the café table for two on the private back deck.
Andrew’s Townhouse sleeps six in beds, and is ideal for families, friends and small groups. There is Wi-Fi throughout the house, a 30” flat screen TV in each bedroom and a 35” flat screen TV in the living room. The accommodations offer guests privacy as well as open common spaces for socializing without stepping on one another’s toes. The open double parlors enable some people to dine while others converse or relax on the super-comfy sectional. It’s a perfect combination of spaces.
We have three bedrooms. A first level bedroom features a queen bed and en suite full bath with a shower. Upstairs are two larger bedrooms – one with a queen bed, the other a king -- and a shared full bath with both shower and claw foot tub. Dry off with fresh, plush towels; shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided. The king room features a charming built-in study space, ideal for planning activities, journaling or (if necessary) checking emails and texts. All beds have high-quality mattresses and bedding, and each bedroom has a roomy closet, with an extra blanket. All bedrooms have a 30” flatscreen TV.
Pack light. The full-size front-loading washer and dryer are downstairs, and laundry detergent is provided. Just be sure to bring a good pair of walking shoes. Most visitors do a lot of walking, and a lot less driving than they expect.
Park your vehicle on-site in the gated area behind the house. The parking/back area opens to a lane, so you are not pulling out into traffic. (There is no parking in the lane.) Three houses down is free parking on Liberty Street; and there is additional metered parking throughout the area. Passes may be purchased in advance from the City’s parking services office.
But outside of trips to Tybee Island, with its wonderful sandy beaches, or perhaps a drive through Ardsley Park to see the early 1900s mansions along Victory Drive, you may find you’re not using your car. Just walking a few blocks will get you to Colonial Park Cemetery, Broughton Street (the main retail-and-restaurant street), Lucas Theatre, River Street, Jepson Center for the Arts, and more. People who love to walk can basically cover the Landmark and Victorian Districts, including Forsyth Park, with ease.
Andrew's Townhouse is an ideal place to relax, experience living in an 1872 property, and take in everything Savannah has to offer. Welcome!

About the host
Hosted by Kelly

The property’s owner and namesake, Andrew grew up in Savannah, enjoying walks in the downtown squares, pralines on River Street, Tybee beach, and more than an occasional pizza at Vinnie Van Gogo's. He now lives in Johannesburg, South Africa, working as a consultant on global health and economic development programs. He loves traveling and living abroad, but Savannah will always hold a special place in his heart. "Andrew's Townhouse" is one way for him to hold onto his roots in the city. The vacation rental is a joint project with his loving parents, who live on the Southside of Savannah. Andrew’s Townhouse is perfect for your comfort and connection to historical downtown Savannah. We hope you enjoy your stay!

Welcome!
What makes this property unique
Andrew's Townhouse is in excellent condition. While his home is just beginning its life as a vacation rental, the owner is experienced in the business and has retained a local management team specializing in Historic Savannah properties and consistently earning 5-star reviews on Vrbo over the past five years.
The Andrew's Townhouse location is superb. Vacationers enjoy a neighborhood experience in an area of increasingly valuable properties (including homes priced in the millions), while being just minutes from dining, bars, museums, parks, shopping and attractions. Crawford Square is right around the corner, and Colonial Park Cemetery is just a few more steps away. The squares are quintessentially Savannah, and create the foundations of General Oglethorpe's grid-pattern plan for our wonderfully laid-out city. Take your morning cup of coffee or cocktail-hour glass of wine to Crawford Square to sit, talk and imagine what living here was like in the 1700s, 1800s, 1900s, and today. You will travel through other squares as you explore the city.
Andrew's Townhouse is also walking distance from the Savannah River. Most visitors experience River Street and its riverside walkway during the day or at night, when it is most active. We recommend you also check it out in the morning, maybe after breakfast at B. Matthews, and watch the container ships navigate to and from the Port of Savannah. Ours is the largest container facility of its kind in North America. The speed at which these ships transport their storeys-high containers is stunning!
We are also only a few minutes' drive to the Truman Expressway and Overseas Highway, offering the fastest commutes to Tybee Island & Beach, Bonaventure Cemetery, Ft. Pulaski, Oatland Island Wildlife Center, Ft. Jackson as well as Whole Foods, the Victory Drive commerce area, and more.
