We enjoyed our recent visit to this log home on the Delaware river. The grounds are beautiful and it is a peaceful, quiet spot. We observed much wildlife (bald eagles, deer, ducks, geese), all without mosquitoes or gnats!
Various outside activities are available, as described on the website. The home is also fully equipped, especially the kitchen with a fantastic ice-maker!
On arrival be sure to read the host’s binder notebook, since you are instructed to turn on the hot water heater on arrival (and off when leaving).
The upstairs loft bedroom has a bathroom, but guests in the two basement bedrooms need to use the main floor bathroom. The claw-foot tub upstairs and the Jacuzzi in the main bathroom can be difficult to get in and out of. Sheets and towels are provided, but you are requested to wash the towels before leaving.
Lighting in this home creates a cozy ambiance like candlelight, and the brightly-lit website photos are not representative. To play board games at the kitchen table we needed to move lamps. The kitchen and TV extension cords/plugs were temperamental.
Some notes: This home is not handicapped-accessible, as mentioned on the website. The cumbersome front entry gates need repair, and garbage cans do not fit into the shed where they were to be stored. On only 3 of our 5 day visit did a train run through, about 10:30pm. Narrowsburg restaurants are open on Thursday though Sunday.
While we did enjoy this pleasant retreat from a noisy world, we believe that the rental fee for midweek was overpriced.
