About Karen Fergusson

We have always enjoyed getting away to the mountains of North Georgia. When we first visited Bear Creek Lodge, it gave us that 'Welcome home' feeling from the minute we walked in the front door. All we needed to do was adjust the thermostat, check the hot tub setting and our most relaxing vacation started. When the property was listed for sale in 2012, we jumped at the opportunity to continue the tradition Barb and Todd started. From our family to yours...WELCOME HOME! We know you will want to come back!

Why Karen Fergusson chose Northeast Mountains

We chose to buy a vacation home in Blairsville, Georgia because it is an easy drive from our home in Atlanta but it is far enough away from the rush of everyday living. The quiet, seclusion of our cabin gave us exactly what we were looking for when we said we wanted a cabin in the mountains. The wildlife is exciting to see and there are plenty of outdoor activities (hiking, boating, white water rafting, fishing and more!) within a short driving distance.

What makes this cabin unique

If you want seclusion but still be close to town, you have found the right cabin. Nestled at the end of the lane, there is no traffic, only a creek and plenty of quiet privacy. You can plan a day away from the cabin or be very happy staying home wading in the creek, resting in the hot tub and just plain relaxing on the porch or the back yard by the creek. There is plenty of room for the kids to go and hang out leaving peace and quiet for the adults in your group.

Escape from the world

  • 5 of 5

The family was in the area to celebrate my daughter graduating from Young Harris College. My mother, girlfriend and I stayed at the cabin. Once we arrived, it was perfect! Could have comfortably housed two more - I thought my son and his girlfriend were going to stay with us. The screened in back porch with the swing and rocking chairs were heaven. I loved sitting there listening to the water rolling over the rocks. It was great. Went to several local wineries and the local drug store/gun store. Everybody bought "Prozac and Pistol" shirts. Already trying to schedule a trip back.

Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We were planning a Spring Break mountain biking getaway for ourselves and our young daughters. What we got was a cold and snowy stay. But, it was perfect. The cabin was cozy and we played board games and did yoga. The hot tub was perfect. Despite the cold, our daughters loved the creek. The cabin was in great shape and the information provided both by the owner and in the cabin was very helpful.

Thank you for providing a comfortable space for an altered vacation.

Beautiful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This is our first time visiting this area. We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin! It's beautiful, quiet and peaceful. It's well equipped and nicely decorated. We grilled on the gas grill, enjoyed the hot tub, the fire place and listening to the stream. We saw about eight deer in the drive way. We went horseback riding in Blairsville and shopping in Blue Ridge. We can't wait to come back!

Owner's Response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and excited and had the opportunity to see some of our vast wildlife that roams the area. Deer sightings are abundant as are the many varieties of birds. One of the most intriguing sights for us are not only the deer, but the beavers that swim up and down the stream and sharpen their teeth on the fallen logs. Finding their work in the shape and size of walking sticks is always fun! Please come back and visit again. Sincerely, Brian & Karen

Fantastic views!! Way off the road!

Owner's Response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay, one of the reasons we bought Bear Creek Lodge is because of the remoteness. The bridge at the bottom of the hill washed away in 1999 and turned our lane into a PRIVATE dead-end street! Now that culvert makes a good "Eddy" for trout to hide under. We hope you will consider staying at Bear Creek Lodge on your next visit to Blairsville. Sincerely, Brian & Karen
