Make sure you can tolerate the shortcomings of this apartment
- The bathroom and one of the bedrooms are in the basement. There are no windows and hardly any ventilation in the basement. So the air quality is marginal at best.
- The stairs to access the basement are closer to a ladder than standard stairs. Anyone with a slightly reduced mobility would not be able to access the bathroom.
- This place used to be a street-level store. So the entrance is right on the street which raises some security issues. We had people try to open the door.
- Even though the place technically has three double beds that could potentially accommodate up to 6 travelers, there is simply not enough space elsewhere in the studio for that many people.
Even though the place was recently renovated, its structural limitations make it a suboptimal lodging option even in the challenging Paris’ market.
The attitude of the owner/manager does not help either.
- Very little effort has been dedicated to setting up a place that meets basic functional requirements. For example, there is a prominent sign in the bathroom reminding guests they should not put anything else than toilet paper in the bowl. Yet, there is not trash can in the bathroom. There is nothing to hang towels. There are many other examples of basic equipment that is missing.
- When we checked in, the place had not been cleaned. When we called Nicole to inquire about the situation, she clearly had no idea of the condition of the place. She just assumed that it had been cleaned. Eventually, the place got cleaned within two hours after the check in time. This was a quick and superficial job. We found left over food, clothes, and various personal items throughout the place after the cleaning lady had left. Meanwhile, the owner got increasingly annoyed with this situation. She became defensive and tried to make the case that everything was fine and somehow we were the problem.
A flawed property combined to a lack of customer service results in a frustrating experience.
