Overview

About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2.25 Baths, (Sleeps 13-15)

Our family home is a classic mountain retreat at reasonable rates. Why pay for granite counter tops, when you came for granite mountains?! We are close to Lake Tahoe, The Truckee River and Tahoe City.

Come enjoy our rustic mountain cabin in the scenic Alpine Meadows valley. Our house has wood paneling throughout, a large fieldstone and copper fireplace, big windows with gorgeous views of the mountains, two wood decks directly off the house, and a detached wooden deck with benches under trees near the house. Perfect for a family getaway or two families with kids, the two-story house has an expandable dinner table seating up to 12 people, an open-plan kitchen/dining area, and a spacious bunkroom sleeping 7 downstairs and an - you can even bring your dog! Full supply of blankets and linens; separate laundry room with washer/dryer.

Our kid-friendly house makes a perfect base for taking advantage of the area’s many recreational opportunities in every season:

WINTER

Our house is 5 minutes from the Alpine Meadows ski and it is a 10 minute drive to Squaw Valley, which offers cross-country and downhill skiing, ice-skating, and scenic tramway rides. We have our own private sledding hill out the back door, and a mudroom and warming closet by the front door for wet skiwear and kids’ clothes. Granlibakken, a kid-oriented ski area with sledding and tubing areas, is a 20-minute drive.

FALL AND SPRING

The surrounding mountains and valleys offer spectacular foliage in the fall, and rushing streams and rivers to explore in the spring. Don’t be misled by the term “off-season”!

SUMMER

Down the hill in back of the house is a cool, clear stream, with a small swimming hole, and there are wonderful hiking and mountain biking trails minutes from the door. Renters also have access to Alpine Meadows Community Park (3 miles from the house) which has a stream-fed swimming pond with a sandy beach, picnic tables, BBQ pits, tennis courts, volleyball, and soccer field – everything you need for a lovely family day. Horseback riding is available 5 minutes from the house at Alpine Meadows Stables. We are 10 minutes from the Truckee River for fishing, swimming and rafting, 10 minutes from Squaw Valley, with more hiking, biking, hip shopping and 5-star restaurants at the Village at Squaw Valley, and 15 minutes from gorgeous Lake Tahoe with numerous swimming, boating, eating and shopping options.

Wonderful Multi-family Snow Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This Alpine cabin was just perfect for us. We loved the style and distribution of the rooms: it was perfect for hanging out with 3 families including 5 kids 7 and under. The open top floor had room to play and build pillow/blanket forts, a cozy fireplace and large kitchen to work and play. Everything was there, and yet not too fancy so that we felt really comfortable hanging out with our little guys and gals.

The cabin was really well stocked with games - we adults loved puzzling and also played a hilarious game - and books for kids and adults. The extra kids ski clothes and sleds in the bunk room were wonderful, especially in combination with the sledding run built by the neighbors! And the distribution of rooms was great - though we would have liked the kids to all sleep in the bunk bed room instead of ending up in their parents beds ;-)

Location was also great: at Alpine Meadows ski resort within 5 minutes and to Tahoe City in 15 minutes to ski and sled at Granlibakken.

We had such a good time and really enjoyed the stay. Hopefully we can come back!

Great fun!

  • 5 of 5

We love this house, we come here every year in the Summer and the Winter. We build snow forts, sled runs, hike the creek, and have a load of fun with my kid and our friends. We can easily drive to Tahoe City or Truckee for anything we need and we always visit Lake Tahoe, of course. We have stayed alone and with one or two other families in the past. The house very easily accommodates us all. Kitchen and house in general has plenty of accouterments, though if you have a favorite kitchen knife or pillow you might want to bring those. The house was clean and well maintained BUT I like that the house isn't so fancy with everything perfectly shiny new, this way I'm never worried about little spills, etc. Easier with kids.

Cozy & Great for Kids

  • 5 of 5

We did the long weekend at this cabin, skiing at both Alpine and Squaw. It was warm, cozy, well-equipped and fit 2 families (11 people total) quite nicely. The beds were great and we all fit well around the table. It's not your "fully updated" cabin, but more of a classic Alpine Meadows house that feels well lived-in, but not run down. Just wonderfully cozy.

The boys, in particular, loved the back yard, spending most of their non-skiing time building a ski jump in between the trees. We'd go back again in a heartbeat!

Thanks.
