Birdnest Family Lake House - Spacious Lake McQueeney Home

Hello! Thank you for considering staying at the Birdnest Family Lake House. My husband, David, and I purchased the home in January 2021. The Birdnest Lake House has had a positive VRBO rental experience since 2016, and we look forward to the privilege of serving the same 5 star customer service as the previous owners.

Lots of room for Social Distancing! The lake is currently open and we are taking reservations.

The Birdnest Lake House is a spacious 4 Bed/3 Bath updated home on beautiful Lake McQueeney. Located on a quiet street with easy access to Interstate 10 and Hwy 46.

Our two story home has 2 bedrooms/1 full bath downstairs with a living area and kitchen. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms/2 full baths and large kitchen, dining and open living areas. The home can sleep 14 comfortably.

The main living space and newly updated kitchen is on the second floor. Entertaining is easy on the large granite island (seating 6) and family style table (seating 8). Relax and watch the big screen TV in the family room on comfortable leather couches or just enjoy the picturesque view of the lake.

The home was remodeled in 2011, and a second kitchen was created on the first floor with an additional dining and seating area. This area has recently been updated with new living area furniture and a dedicated work space area for those who may need to work (or school) remotely. We have upgraded WIFI and extenders for full home coverage.

The home is perfect for multiple families renting or when cooking for large groups. No problem with refrigerator space, we have 2 in addition, we have two wine refrigerators.

Plenty of parking underneath the car port (room for 6 cars). For those bringing a boat or jet skis, we have a fully enclosed boat house with an electric lift, and a kayak for use. Our neighborhood's private boat launch is available for guests as well. We have a large fenced backyard (great for pets) and the lake is just steps away from the backdoor.

There is a spacious dock over the water with table and chairs provided. Not a 'sun seeker'? No problem, our home has a wrap around porch on the 2nd level that provides shade most of day. Great for enjoying your morning coffee or for watching the sun go down! The wrap around porch railing has recently been updated to incorporate safety for children and pets to allow you to peacefully take time to take in the views!

Lots to do at our home whether it be boating, fishing, kayaking, swimming, or just laying in the hammock. We are in close proximity to New Braunfels and Gruene, TX for daily excursions or to pick up last minute shopping needs.

NOTE: For smaller groups, we would consider renting out just the lower level (2 bedroom/1 bath) that can sleep up to 10 comfortably. Access to all of the same amenities but no access to upper level of the home. Inquire with the owner for pricing and info on this option.

3. Got kids!? - we have a bunk room, port-a-crib and high chair for your ease - you can travel a little lighter.
4. Like to grill out? We have a propane/and charcoal grill, plus utensils ready for use.
5. Don't like to grill out? No worries, we have a large spacious fully stocked kitchen, spices included!
6. Got a Boat, or Jet Ski? Bring it! We have space for it. (up to 22' boats)
7. Don't have a boat? No Worries! - You can use our Kayak!
8. Have a pet? Pets are considered with a refundable pet deposit. Let's discuss!
9. Don't know what other entertainment may be in the area? No worries, we're 15 mins from New Braunfels, Tubing, 20 mins from Gruene, TX (Gruene Hall) and 30 mins from San Marcos shopping outlets. + there are wineries, public Golf course and dining available. We'll leave a list for you on the counter.
10. Can't get away from work (or school), or need to bring it with you? No problem, we have high-speed WIFI and plenty of room for you to set up. So, you can get your work done before you go jump in the lake!

Great Stay!!

Birdnest was fantastic!! The home was clean, comfortable and so so cute! This home has everything you need, you simply just show up. The own is a great communicator and was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The lake is very nice and relaxing! Everyone in our party was pleased with our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were washed in Tyler Candle co. diva detergent which is my personal favorite - smells so fresh and clean! We would stay here again and even bring the kids, it's definitely kid and adult friendly! Thanks for a great stay!!

Amazing house and location! We had an amazing time!

This house was absolutely amazing! We had a blast just hanging on the lake and enjoying both the views and everything the house had to offer. Wendy the Host is very responsive and super nice and accommodating! We will definitely be back!

Perfect for large family!

Beautiful home with two living and kitchen areas making it perfect for large families. Great porch and two docks for both shade and sun. Large upstairs living and dining room had plenty of space for our group of 9. Very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Lake House!

This lake house was beautiful and accommodated 4 families so nicely! You can tell the owners really wanted to make you feel at home with the amenities they provided and shared. If we had any questions, they responded very quickly. We had such an enjoyable week!

Wonderful Lake House

The house was amazing. Exactly what we needed for our smoky reunion of 14 people. Plenty of room for a large group. All of the amenities we needed. And the kayak, paddle board and floats were an added bonus for water fun. The communication with the owner was helpful and they were always quick to respond if we needed anything. Highly recommend this rental.

Amazing Lakefront Property!

We recently stayed at Bird Nest Lake House. I would first like to say you will never find a property manager as helpful as Wendy. Although everything was perfect, and did not have any issues when we arrived, she was very accommodating prior to our arrival. The house was perfect, although I do not feel the pictures did it justice. It is two houses in one, each with it’s own kitchen and living area. We had two families, and this afforded each family a little privacy if they chose. I have rented many times from VRBO in the past, and have never seen a house so completely stocked as this one. It sits on a beautiful part of the lake with a great deck to watch all the lake activities. It has kayaks, floats and life jackets for personal use. Family lazy lake life vacation

Fantastic time, wonderful home. Property Owners were super, responded immediately to our questions or needs. Kids as well as adults enjoyed the lake life living. Definitely will return, already booked our next trip, and highly encourage others to book their next vacation at this property. We were sad to leave. Our only regret is we didn't book for two weeks versus one.

Fun vacation

The house and property were very nice. My only complaint would be we had small children swimming and boats and jet skis came by very fast. Would be nice if boaters were made to go slower through the neighborhood.

We enjoyed staying at the Birds Nest. It's a beautiful property, recently updated and so peaceful! We enjoyed fishing, swimming, comfy beds, everything you could possibly need, we floated the rivers, enjoyed New Braunfels, Krause's restaurant and so much more. Wendy and Leah are great hosts and we had a blast! We'll be back...if there's availability!

Extraordinary Time at an Extraordinary Home

My family and I were extremely pleased with the home at first sight. The home's proximity to the lake, boat house, two decks, and all the fishing, boating, and swimming accessories and water toys made it ideal for my family to enjoy countless hours of fishing, swimming, and boating; which we did every hour of our stay. The home was perfectly stocked for a large family gathering to include what family does best which is both prepare meals and eat together. It provided enough space that everyone could go their own separate ways at times but also there was enough space for the family to all be in the same place for eating and playing together. The home was stocked with all the typical family gathering toys which we used regularly to occupy countless hours of both indoors and outdoors time together. The condition of the property was excellent. It was evident that the owners put a lot of thought, time, resources, and effort in preparing the property for our stay. Last, the owners made themselves available throughout our stay and were always responsive to our needs. My family has already begun talking about returning again soon. We made great memories that will last a life time. The kind of memories that family talks about forever. Thank you David and Wendy. You have a great home and we had a great time at your home. The Bird Nest: Where relaxation isn't a choice, it just happens!

Life got you running in circles? Are you stressed out? Pandemic weary? Then this is your place! We spent an extended weekend here. It was a long overdue mini-vacation with our expanding family and was just what we needed. The Bird Nest is beautiful and feels like home, minus all those pesky projects screaming your name. There is so much to do here! Enjoy the docks for fishing or just sitting and watching boaters go by, or you can take a dip in the water and sit on the floating dock. We enjoyed time around the firepit roasting marshmallows and playing music, and we played many games of ping pong and cornhole. When the weather didn't cooperate, we moved our concert indoors and played board games. We spent a great deal of time on the covered wraparound deck just taking in the beautiful view and sounds of nature. Morning coffee and starting the day from this vantage point was especially relaxing. The large kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need and plenty of room for many helpers. Each bedroom has a white noise device and very comfortable bedding, creating a perfect sleep environment. The house is very spacious and the 2 large living areas providing enough room for everyone to spread out and do their own thing, have multiple group activities or come together as a large group. If you choose to leave and explore the area, there's plenty to do and see. We did venture out to Naegelin's bakery for kolaches and donuts one morning— it's worth the trip! Overall, everything was wonderful. Everyone destressed and relaxed, and enjoyed their time here. Our only regret was that our stay wasn't longer. That's why we will return next year for a full week! Lovely, spacious lakehouse with responsive owners

The property is lovely. The home was clean, spacious and well-stocked with everything we needed and then some. The owners were very responsive to our questions both before and during our stay. We especially liked that there are two common areas to gather, one upstairs and one downstairs, which was perfect for our group. The teenagers hung out downstairs playing games and watching t.v. late into the night while the adults were upstairs cooking, talking and napping. The wraparound porch is a great place to sit and read a book or just watch the world go by. I would highly recommend this property to anyone considering it for a family get away at the lake.

Wonderful Week at the Lake

My husband, toddler, and I rented this cabin for Spring Break and it was the perfect change of scenery we were looking for. We were able to bring our 2 Golden Retrievers which was a great! We played in the yard, went on boat rides with friends, and visited the Power Plant restaurant in town. The kitchen was very well equipped and we enjoyed being able to use 2 refrigerators. Wonderful place to relax and unwind.

The house was beautiful, clean and on the Guadalupe River! It was quiet, relaxing and peaceful. The view was breathtaking! We had everything we needed. It was great. I highly recommend this venue!

Riverside retreat

This property was exactly what we were looking for. Check in was smooth with a timely email with address and a door code to get in. We traveled as a group with 3 other couples and there was plenty of privacy for everyone. The common spaces (big kitchen, waterside deck, upper deck) were great for hanging out, chillin on floaties and grilling. Best stocked kitchen (Utensils, spices, paper towel, adequate plates, cups, bowls and cozies) I have seen at a VRBO. Nothing is more frustrating then getting to your vacation destination and now someone has to run to the store for hand soap, dishwasher soap etc and that wasn’t the case with this place. We would stay definitely stay there again.

Lake McQueeney is a Special family place.

Bird Lakehouse was perfect for our needs this past week. Bedroom downstairs has bunks for the kids. WiFi works well. Kitchen upstairs updated. Place to park a boat down by the dock.

No worries, we're 15 mins from New Braunfels, Tubing, 20 mins from Gruene, TX (Gruene Hall) and 30 mins from San Marcos shopping outlets. + there are wineries, public Golf course and dining available. We'll leave a list for you on the counter.
10. Can't get away from work (or school), or need to bring it with you? No problem, we have high-speed WIFI and plenty of room for you to set up. So, you can get your work done before you go jump in the lake!

From San Antonio - we are 38 miles, only 45 min drive.

From Houston - we are 167 miles and a quick 2 hr and 20 min drive.
