We loved the Sky Laurel Cottage! It is very cute and comfortable and has a great layout for a family with teens so everyone can have their own space. It’s centrally located in Blowing Rock but on a quiet road. The kitchen is tiny, as others mention, so not where you’d stay in you want to do much cooking. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Sky Laurel for the App State vs JMU game. The cottage was super clean and comfy. It was easy to get to which was nice because of the icy conditions. It’s also very close to downtown Blowing Rock and a short drive or Uber to Boone. We would definitely stay again.

While the property description was reasonably accurate, the configuration was very odd. The downstairs BRs were dungeonlike and damp. The kitchen was jammed into a space so small that it was impossible to fully open the refrigerator. Parking was difficult because the slope put the car at an angle.

Cute cottage. There was some road noise from the highway close by. This was a good location for day trips.

Disliked: Communication
Our stay at Sky Laurel Cottage was just okay. The location was close to Blowing Rock, the cabin was clean, the beds were comfortable and the fireplace was nice. The kitchen was very small, but the previous reviews prepared us for that. The oven was described as "fabulous Hotpoint oven with the charm and reliability." The oven didn't work at all so we couldn't cook any of the food we bought for the weekend. I called the service number with Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals and never heard back from anyone. The couch in the living room felt broken and was very uncomfortable to sit on. The Kuerig has seen much better days and it was impossible to get a full cup of coffee without running it three times. The description lists "a view overlooking scenic Blowing Rock." The cabin actually overlooks Outback and a very busy, noisy highway. The bathroom on the first level was so small and it was very hard to shower. The towels provided for our stay were so thin and old. A curtain on the front door would also be a nice addition. You can see all the way from the road into the main bedroom. I'm not someone to blindside an owner with a bad review without discussing it first, so I called Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals to speak with someone about our experience before leaving this review. I was told to just leave feedback online.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry that your experience was not all that you hoped; that is never our goal and we truly apologize. Our Customer Care team will reach out. We would love to have you back anytime if you would like to give us another chance! - BRMR
The cottage was nice. I loved the bottom rooms with each having their own bathroom and a shared shower. Beds were very comfortable. I would suggest putting fireplace instructions in the notebook, steps for the high beds as short and elderly have a hard time getting in and out, an additional step coming out of the house as it’s a BIG step down. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
