About The Owner

Why The Owner chose Shenandoah Valley

Local people often book this home as a true "find" in this area. It is quiet and has one of the nicest river spots to relax on the Shenandoah for a quick dip, fishing or just relaxing. Come see why folks who know the area, return year after year.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Loved the place! Beautiful views of the mountains and peaceful fields. Quiet and secluded. House was better than pictures! My girlfriend and I went together and this place was just huge! Would very comfortably accommodate much larger parties. Close enough to Luray for groceries. Loved the walk down to the Riverside clearing and campfire area. Spent a lot of time fishing so we enjoyed the private river access. Big rock ledges run straight into river from access point and make a killer small mouth spot approx 1/4 to 3/4 across river about 20 ft upstream from bank. Wade up and out along ledge. WIFI and Satellite TV were great. Relaxed enjoying wine in the hot tub while soaking in views. What more could you ask for!?

Better than we imagined!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home was much bigger than we expected and it was super clean. We enjoyed the fireplace and sitting around the kitchen table playing games. Nina even called on Saturday to ask if we needed anything! We definitely plan on visiting again!

Enjoyable Stay

  • 4 of 5

Our stay started out rough. Ice and snow on stairs that we spent 1 hour making safe, then couldn't get heat working, couldn't get owner. Things went uphill from there. We finally got in touch with Tina (the work number was wrong- she knows that now), and she came right down and tried to start heaters. She got the one in the kitchen going finally but could not get gas fire going (she tried for a while and came back and tried again) She had someone come the next morning and it got fixed. There is no heat in bathrooms. Bedrooms have fake fireplace heaters- not good if you don't like light and noise. Den has thermostat for that room. Took a few hours to finally get warm. There is definitely a stink bug problem-common in this area in spring and fall. we killed about 10 a day. Now the good. It is very spacious! Lots of room for people and dogs- inside and out. Our dogs loved running around outside- one is not used to being off lease so he was thrilled. The walk down to the river is a nice one, across 2 fields on a dirt/grass road. Since the trees were not out we could see river from porch and house. Was disappointed about layout of house- could not tell from pictures. You start at one end of the house with the kitchen and half bath off kitchen, then you move into the living room with full bath off living room. The stairs go nowhere!. Off the other side of the living room is the den and the 2 bedrooms are off of the den at that end of the house. We were hoping that the den was a set aside room but anyone sleeping there has the people in the bedrooms walking through- especially as the bathrooms are on the other end of the house from the bedrooms! We made it work but it was only us and our daughter. The porch was great to sit on (you might want to remove those old rocking chairs- they look dangerous to sit on). We took a fun walk over to the "ghost houses" and the cave- cave is not much- cannot go into it. Also windows of living room have a beautiful view but are very dirty- Tina said they are trying to figure how to clean them. We did not use the hot tub or fire pits- we wound up having cold, wet weather and snow! Easy drive into town- Luray greenway was a great walk. Hard to find places to eat- there are some. We would definitely come back but probably when it is warmer. My advice if you come in the cold- bring space heaters, ice melt, and shovels. Very quiet, peaceful but not far off main road. Dead end so no cars at all!

Great spot, with lots of room for a group of adults to take in the New Year. Close to Luray.

  • 5 of 5

Visited the cabin for New Year's with a group of friends from DC. It was large enough to accommodate all six of us with no problems. Hot tub worked well, and the property was gorgeous. Having wifi made it much more convenient since no one in the group had a cell phone signal. The location was convenient to get into Luray for grocery shopping, drive to some nice hikes in under 20 mins, and get to other attractions.

Great location, tranquil stay.

We stayed three nights the week before Christmas and really enjoyed outselves. We hiked the Massanutten Trail during the day, and sat around the fire pit in the evening.

Lovely riverfront property

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time visiting the cabin, the host was very responsive and the cabin was very cute. The property is beautiful and her instructions were extremely detailed and useful. We had such a wonderful weekend, there was a slightly weird smell around the hot tub, but it was overall great and very relaxing.

Remote, Beautiful, and exactly what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

The perfect getaway! Between the private river access, the two fire pits, the stunning views from the rocking chairs, and the incredible hot tub overlooking the gorgeous fields, there was no reason to leave the cabin. (That said, the cabin is not SO remote that it is impossible to enjoy all Luray and the surrounding area have to offer!)
