Entire Home! Easy Walk to Beach & Gorgeous Sound View


Unwind in a tranquil, relaxed area of the island. Marvel at the stars at night and soak up the sun on a stunning, expansive beach by day! Enjoy a beautiful sunset view of the sound from the spacious back deck. Chat with family and friends on the large side deck with a view of iconic Topsail Beach Water Tower.

The house is approximately a block and a half from the beach access, and about the same distance from the sound. There is a kayak loading area for the sound about a half-mile down the street.

Sound's Great is a charming, recently renovated, well-appointed home with an easy, under 2-minute stroll to one of the most convenient public accesses on spectacular Topsail Beach.
It’s an ideal spot for biking , kayaking, grilling burgers or seafood, or just relaxing with your favorite beverage on a spacious deck. The house is actually 2 separate dwellings, with a total of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and two living areas. (Each level has 2 bedrooms, one bath, and a living area.)

The kitchen and laundry room are located on the second floor, while the first floor features a convenient mini-kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, and microwave. Note: Access to the first floor is via outdoor steps, requiring entry from outside the house.

The house is located in Topsail Beach (on the island's south end), a historic and charming town with a missile museum, a 1950s-era putt-putt course, fine dining at the Beach Shop, wine and books at The Quarter Moon, and high-quality gifts at The Gift Basket. You can also catch live music some evenings at Larry’s Deli-Q, Beach Shop, or the local municipal park.

Surf City, with an endless selection of restaurants and fun-filled activities, is only a 10-minute drive away.

Absolutely perfect beach getaway! The house had everything we could possibly need for the beach—chairs, umbrellas, toys, even a wagon to haul it all. The walk to the beach was super easy, just a few minutes and we were on the sand. The home was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. The owner was fantastic to work with—very easy to communicate with and incredibly accommodating when we needed to change our vacation week. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

Loved everything. Location was great. The inside was immaculate. Lots of extras. Provided above and beyond any other vbro host. However, The outside deck needs a good stain (kids got splinters) and the backyard needed to be mowed. Other than that wonderful stay. We will stay here again! Great vacation.

The property was fantastic. It was perfect for our family from the location to the amenities. We didn’t want for anything and will definitely rent again. Great location!!!

Really enjoyed the location of the house and had a wonderful time. The only thing that didn’t work well was the stairs being outside. It made it slightly challenging to have a cohesive binding trip. We made it work though. Other than that I have no complaints.

Wonderful house with Gracious Hosts

My family and I had a great time at this property for a small vacation while our kids were on their Spring Break. The house accommodations were fantastic. It was very clean and organized and only a block away from the beach. We would definitely recommend this property. The hosts were great and very communicative.

Topsail Beach Trip

This house was beautiful; charming and quaint. It had a well-stocked kitchen of dishes, utensils…. The drawers and cabinets were even labeled to help find items. Bathrooms were well stocked; and there’s a washer and dryer to use. The bedrooms were all spacious and cozy. The outdoor deck was nicely large, with plenty of chairs and tables for outdoor eating. The big windows and sliding doors made for great views and natural lighting inside. The downstairs was impressive in that it really was another living space. It was close to a beach access; an easy walk. We loved this house and would definitely return. The owner was an excellent host.

Weekend getaway

This house was everything and more for our stay! Brenda was amazing to work with and answered every question I had in a timely manner. She even let me know one morning that there was a reg flag warning at the beach and to stay safe! The house was clean and stocked with everything we needed for the house and the beach! We will hopefully be back next year!

Perfect Family Setup

We absolutely loved our stay in this beach house! We found it clean, well stocked and comfortably accomodating. The way the upstairs is somewhat separate from the downstairs worked well for our older children to have their own space without being too far. We enjoyed riding bikes to nearby stores & restaurants and look forward to booking this house again next year!

Annual Topsail Getaway

Our family (aged 12-75) had a great stay at Sounds Great. Great location in South Topsail and easy walk to beautiful, non-crowded beach. Home is decorated very nicely with lots of great features.

Lovely hosts and nice place

Overall the location was good, a short walk to public beach access. The host was very accommodating, with extra supplies and snacks provided in the home. They were very responsive when we contacted them about an issue in the downstairs. The upstairs was very nice and maintained. The downstairs left some things to be desired.

Great stay

The property was a great set up for our stay with three teens. They had their own space for privacy and retreat. We enjoyed all the island had to offer and the well equipped home had more than we could have imagined for comfort during our one week stay. Brenda is a great host and we look forward to another visit!

Attention to detail

Home was perfect for older couple taking two adult children and their +ones for a family beach week. We have other family who also stay very near. Clean, well organized, easy walk to beach access #13 at cross street (Crocker). Love the laidback family vibe of Topsail Beach.

Relaxing days

We stayed at this property for 4 nights over a holiday weekend. We had originally planned to stay 5 nights, but a passing hurricane delayed our trip by a day. Brenda proactively communicated and proposed plan B and she refunded the night we missed. We were able to checkin a day later then planned and everything was perfect and as stated on VRBO. Great communication, great location close to beach, comfortable places to relax both on outdoor deck and in both levels of the house. Plenty of extra supplies provided that you don’t normally find in a rental. We loved our stay and will return.

Lovely vacation spot!

The house was wonderful. Everything was clean and organized. The kitchen was labeled to make cooking a breeze. The hosts went out of their way to supply all the things you need for a perfect beach experience. Beach chairs, towels, tent, toys, boogie boards, even a wagon, as well as, games, movies, and books in case it rains. We enjoyed or stay and would come again.

Perfect place steps from the beach

We were so impressed by this property and the communication with the owners that we’re already discussing a future summer vacation here. Everything was clean, as described, with labels and instructions making it easy to find anything we needed. I think of all the places we’ve stayed this one was the one was the best stocked and the thoughtful additions were so handy (all the grilling items, beach chairs, towels, shades, snacks, waters, dishwashing pods and laundry detergents, a first aid kit, keypad entrance etc…too many things to name). We recommend 100%!

First but not last trip to Topsail Beach

This house is amazing. If you’re looking for clean, modern yet quaint, convenient location, and comfortable, this is the house for you! Less than a 2 minute walk to the beach, great view of the sound and great local shops and restaurants all within 5-10 minutes from the house. This was our first trip to Topsail Beach but definitely not our last. Brenda is an amazing host and gave us all the local inside information for restaurants and shops. All we can say is “wow”! What a memorable and great vacation at Topsail and we can’t wait for the next time.

Great family vacation

I love Topsail and have been coming for years. This is a great location and the home came with lots of little extras like bikes and toys and lots of chairs and very well equipped kitchen. Downstairs bedrooms great for sleeping. Great family messy crab dinner at the deck picnic table , Owner extremely helpful.

Great Hosts

Our stay was going great and then we noticed in downstairs ceiling a water leak. It was steadily dripping down to dining area tile. I called host to let them know. They were both so gracious and apologetic for inconvenience on our vacation. Thru face time host was able and to trouble shoot issue. We put some buckets and trash cans over area to collect water until he arrived the next morning to fix. Our family went to beach while host fixed problem. When we came back in afternoon everything was fixed and put back together. They also went above and beyond anything we expected by buying a gift card to a great local restaurant for our entire family of 7 to dine in the last night of our stay. Plus they issued us a small credit back on Vrbo for the inconvenience. I would like to thank them both for the wonderful vacation and how they turned a negative situation into very positive experience.

Everything we needed while on Topsale

We are happy we rented Sound's Great for a week stay in Topsail. House worked great for our family and had everything we needed except for clothes and food. Location is very quiet. Brenda was a great host and openly communicated from booking to checkout. If we ever are looking to return to Topsail, definitely would rent again.
