About this property
National Forest in Your Backyard! Family + Pet Friendly w/ Spa!
The Woodpecker Lodge is a two-story home sleeps eight guests in three bedrooms.
*In the living room you will find one couch, one loveseat and two "poofs" for seating. The living room TV is equipped with Apple TV and is situated underneath the wood burning fireplace (we do not provide firewood so please bring your own). In the living room you will also find a PacMan sit down arcade machine, a foot/leg massager, plenty of board games for families and a large book shelf packed full of books for adults and kids.
*In the kitchen you will find a Keurig, a regular coffee maker, a kettle, a convection oven and all of the cookware you need for family meals. You can play music on the Alexa or ask her where the nearest store is. The open dining room seats 6 at the table and an additional 2 on the bar top.
Downstairs *The main bedroom has a queen-size bed and access to a private deck with incredible views with views of numerous birds. The second bedroom has a full over twin bunk bed and another twin bed. The third bedroom has a queen bed and private adjoining deck. Each room has a closet and television, two TV's have a Firestick and the kids bunk-room has a TV with assorted VHS.
*The downstairs renovated bathroom is configured with a double vanity and a tub/shower combination. The upstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower.
*Walk out onto the deck of the one of the bedrooms and there is a staircase taking you down to the spa deck and the expansive backyard area, it is not fenced in and 10 feet away is a small sign letting you know that you are now on National Forest property. There are places to sled so bring your sleds with you!You can find a trail that will link up with a protected pebble plain (endangered plants). Walk for miles and explore everything the forest has to offer, just don't forgot to bring your cell phone in case you get lost. On the spa deck you will find a brand new top of the line Soft Spa which seats 4-5 people comfortably. Getting a spa in this spot posed a real challenge so we had a custom deck built and the owner found this very unique spa that we knew our guests would love. There is a porch swing next to the spa, whether you are sitting on it or relaxing in the spa, you will be looking out onto the open forest and you will find peace and quiet. We can almost guarantee that you will see no neighbors or anyone to bother you.
*Wild birds and animals are plentiful in this secluded area of the National Forest. The spacious main deck features incredible forest views and a propane fire pit. Make use of the propane grill for an afternoon cookout. We are a family of four plus a beagle dog so we understand the importance of traveling as a family. A stroller, child-proof gate, and high chair are available for children, as well as a wall of books and games available to guests. A large pet crate is also available for use.
Guest access Our guests have access to the entire cabin except for the storage area underneath the parking pad which is locked. There are also 4 locked cabinets in the downstairs hallway which is used for our housekeepers.
Other things to note There is a non refundable pet fee of $70 per dog, two dogs max. Check in is at 4 pm and check out is at 10 am, but we may be able to give you an extra hour upon request. The soft-tub is a foam hot tub with jets, a filter and motor. Due to the unique property, it is impossible to install a standard hot tub but we loved the idea of relaxing in warm water in the backyard so we improvised and installed a brand new, top of the line Soft-Tub which was able to get down the hill, it is installed on a small deck overlooking the forest.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

We always love staying here, it has all the amenities you would ever want! Very clean and our family always enjoys staying here when we come to big bear!
Our family had a great trip and loved staying at this cabin! They had everything we needed & more and we would love to stay there again in the future! Everything was clean, comfy beds, lovely decorations and the kids loved all the kids stuff they had in their room and the Ms. Pac-Man!
This is a really great property and we truly saw no issues with anything at all. The beds were comfortable, the neighborhood was quiet, the location was a quick drive from everything, the house was in great shape and well kept/cleaned, and the arcade game was a hit! Absolutely perfect for spending the week relaxing in Big Bear with our family. Love it!
Lexy was communicative to our every need and even provided a nice gift bag upon arrival. We spent most of our time on the porch and using the grill. And the kitchen was stocked with plenty of pots and pans to cook with, giving us ample time in the lovely home. Ten minutes from town but remote enough to get your peace and quiet-- Great find!

What makes this property unique
The cabin is uniquely situated along the forest line - so you are secluded deep in the forest unlike other cabins in Big Bear where your neighbors may be on top of you. Miles of hiking start from the back yard. Incredible bird watching and animal spotting from the deck.
