Casa Macumba is a 7 bedroom/8 bathroom Hacienda-style villa with a 7 bedroom/8 bathroom additional villa right next door. To rent all 14 bedrooms it is necessary to make two bookings. One for Casa Macumba (listing # 228628) and another for Casa Milagro (listing # 457489). This beautiful property is located only 3.5 miles south of Old Town on the safest white sand swimming beach in Puerto Vallarta. There is no drop off or boulders in front of the villa. This classic hacienda is laid out on one level so its 100% wheel chair accessible and it has a huge lawn, patio and pool only seven steps away from a white sandy beach. It has
breathtakingly spectacular 180 degree views of Banderas Bay, Los Arcos, Punta Mita, Nuevo Vallarta, Marina Vallarta and the Majestic Sierra Madre Mountains. There is a beautiful blue oval swimming pool that's heated so your kids can swim in the morning or night without shivering. This unique U-shaped villa encompasses a beautiful outdoor area so it's ideal for weddings, family reunions, corporate retreats and all kinds of special events. The patio is big enough to seat 150 people for weddings. This property is a hidden treasure situated on 97 meters of prime beach front property with special privacy provided by an adjacent approximately 100,000 square feet of protected rain forest which is part of the Macumba estate. There are no public pathways or roads in front of this villa to hinder the view or privacy.
Can be rented as a 7 bedroom/8 bathroom villa or as a 14 bedroom 16 bathroom villa.
Punta Negra beach is a great for walking (its the longest beach on the south shore) swimming, kayaking and body surfing. There is no drop-off, under tow or dangerous boulders in front of the villas so it's kid friendly.
There is a gentle slope going down to and into the ocean which makes getting in and out very easy. You can walk out quite a ways out and still have the water at waist level. The villa comes with kayaks, boogie boards and snorkel gear so you don't have to go far to have fun. Tour boats can pick you up right on the beach in front of the villa so you don't even have to pay for taxis. Behind the villa is a beautiful valley with waterfalls and river pools. There is also a zip line canopy tour there for a little excitement. If you just want to relax there is a nice jungle restaurant and you can take the tequila tour and learn how they make tequila. For those who like snorkeling, Los Arcos, an under water ecological reserve is very close. One of our guests favorite tours is to have a panga pick them up on the beach in front of the villa and go snorkeling at Los Arcos and exploring beyond
The staff will pamper you. Upon arrival you will be served guacamole, salsa and chips as well as ice cold margaritas and beer and cold water, pop or juice for your children. Dick-Wilson Family Week
Wonderful property, great staff & food was wonderful. However, it is difficult to wait to have lunch at 1:30 earliest & then be hungry for dinner latest at 6:30. If we would do it again, would want sandwiches, hot dogs or hamburgers, something lighter at 12:00 & then the wonderful dinners at 6:30. Just wasn't possible to eat those large meals so close together. Wi-Fi was not great but that could be of all the people wanting to be on at the same time.
Beach was great & having all the equipment available was a big plus. Family enjoyed our time there.
Due to popular request, when guests choose the lunch and dinner option the new meal time options are as follows:
Lunch- 12:00 12:30 1:00 1:30 and 2:00
Dinner- 5:30 6:00 6:30 7:00 and 7:30
The internet provider has notified us that the new fibre optic line will be coming soon so that we will have faster internet service.
Absolutely amazing! Even more beautiful and incredible than the pictures!
We had a group of 15 friends come together for this trip and we had the time of our lives! The property is stunning! The house is beautiful, traditional style and was always clean and fresh. The grounds were beautifully maintained, the pool was perfect and the grassy yard gave us lots of room to play games and hang out. Blair was very professional and accommodating. The staff were fantastic! Everyone was very nice, accommodating and professional. The food was the best I have ever had. There were many food choices and we enjoyed everything we tried! It is only a 10-15 minute trip into downtown either by bus or taxi, which was perfect for us. I spent the whole week trying to figure out how I could get back to Casa Macumba again soon!

Property is very new/well maintained and staff is amazing
The newness/cleanliness of the property and the amazing staff made this trip for our group. Every room has it's own clean/big bathroom, this was awesome.
Blair has done an incredible job keeping this property fresh and well maintained and he knows how to hire a great staff. I would also add that Blair himself is extremely reasonable and a very accommodating host/owner/manager.
Ok, so why wasn't this a 5-star review?
1. A number of unexpected (BUT DOCUMENTED) additional costs. Technically all these things were either in the terms of service, rental agreement or 31 page Word doc Blair sent us, but I did not go through all of this content thoroughly enough and missed a few things:
* Additional cost per-person above 14 people: we thought we had rented the entire house and invited 2 extra families to fill up the unused space... we found out later this ended up costing us a few thousand more.
* Trivial additional cost for Sunday service ($175)
* Trivial additional cost for Breakfaster+Dinner ($50)
2. Tipping - the documentation provided suggests 10-15% which would have been an additional 1k-1.5k that we need to put together in cash before our last day and then a protocol of presenting it to at least 3 of the workers so it gets divided evenly with all 5... as guests, this is work I don't want to be doing on my vacation.
3. Beach - it is public, has rocks a short way into the surf and not right out the back door - it's down a flight of stairs and about 20-30 yards away. We couldn't let the kids play out there solo like we thought originally (closer and private was the assumption).
4. Cost of Extra Events - we ended up planning our own outings because the cost we kept getting quoted by Blair were 2x what we expected and ended up paying.
5. Internet - speed and coverage is abysmal.
I would say the #1 thing that ruined the 5-star class of the trip was feeling nickle and dimed after spending a small fortune... $15k for 5 days, but 175 for service when we arrive? $50 extra if the staff makes two meals more than 6hrs apart? Additional $175 for an extra meal here or there? Needing $1500 in cash for tips at the end?
I don't want to think about all this on vacation. This is stressful.
Charging extra $/day and just taking care of all these details without issue would have been amazing. Especially at this price point.
IMPORTANT: Look up "no-see-ums" before you go and buy mosquito spray and USE IT ALWAYS, no matter what.
Amazing experience for our wedding
We had an amazing time! We had our wedding at casa macumba 3/3/18. We rented casa macumba and Milagro and our friends and family didn’t want to leave! We loved all of the people who took care of us and couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We will be back some day!!
Casa Macumba and Casa Milagro Exceeded Expectations!!!
We rented both Casa Macumba and Casa Milagro for a group of 28 people. We had very high expectations going in, but both villas and their staff exceeded these expectations. The bedrooms and common areas in both villas are so nice … they look like what you see in the photos, except that the photos don’t really convey the amazing views of the water from each room. It's also nice to have a bathroom for every bedroom as well as a common area bathroom for each villa. The swimming pools are kept warm, with Milagro's pool having nice jets and pool lights and bench-like seating. Both villas have nice outdoor seating/eating areas, but Macumba in particular offers so many good places to sit, eat, or just hang out and enjoy the spectacular weather and scenery. Other highlights of the outdoor areas include hammocks at Macumba, ping pong tables at both villas, and kayaks available to use. And of course there is the fact that both villas are right on a very nice beach, right outside secure gates for each of them. Playa Punta Negra is a picturesque and swimmable beach that is open to the public, but it’s not overcrowded like the beaches in town. So there is so much to enjoy right there at the villas – but if you want to go into town to explore the city, it is really quite easy to do so. The staff can help with calling taxis, but we used Uber quite a bit for the 10 minute ride into town. There is also a bus stop almost directly across from the villas, with the bus costing about 50 cents to ride into town.
Even with the beautiful accommodations and setting, what really made our experience exceed our expectations was Blair (the owner) and the staff for both houses. Blair helped us to arrange airport pickup/transport to the villas for our large group flying in at various times over 2 days. (Blair can also help you to arrange activities such as zip-lining, dolphin swims, etc.) The head chef, Carmen, prepared delicious meals and tasty desserts. And Daniel and the other staff also seemed to always have margaritas ready for us. The staff also cleaned and picked up around the villas; even doing things like washing our clothes and helping to pull kayaks back up to the villas. And every staff member was personable and friendly.
With the combination of great service and accommodations, I don’t know how you can beat the quality and value of staying at Macumba and Milagro. Thank you Blair, Carmen, Daniel, and all for such a great time! Very highly recommended!
